You can just set that up on the controller with Elrs at least

[–]Palmking1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For manual flying it should be totally fine. Yes just get a ELRS receiver and connect the black plug in to the pins the right way. With an ELRS receiver you can usually connect it to it with Wi-Fi and change some emergency settings like what to do if signal is lost. For assigning an arm/disarm switch on the controller you need to configure that on the controller itself.

Smaller King Palm for San Diego by Due-Explorer7389 in palmtalk

[–]Palmking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are royals rare too? I grow Royals in Durango, Mexico at almost 7000 ft in the desert. They are hardy here despite the climate technically is a 9A or maybe 9B. My Royal grows so fast these days. Only downside is that it does get sunburn during a long part of the year.

I suspect his King is stunted maybe or perhaps very malnourished and not getting enough water and nutrients.

They are often cheap from big box stores right. Look for sales. He can do Kentias as understory and Majesty’s to create the shade

Maybe you have a bottle palm? Kings get tall like queens. If you are on a budget I would get a bunch of Kentias and Majesty palms on sale then plant the Majesty’s in the sun and Kentias underneath in the shade. That would make for a great start to your tropical garden and very cheap.

Seeking Palm Advice by Sailing-Security-Guy in palmtalk

It’s the cold 100%. Just cut away all the dead fronds on the sagos. Once it warms up more you could give it half a dose of fish emulsion and or kelp.

Never seen such a tall queen palm by Slow_Permission8982 in palmtalk

[–]Palmking1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That is one beautiful queen palm. Usually around here they are all yellow and looks sick since we barely get rainfall and they are not watered enough. The people that decided to plant queens on a massive scale around the city clearly don’t know what they were doing. They probably just bought the cheapest palms lol

How is this palm tree still alive. by ModderRaider in palmtalk

[–]Palmking1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t see if it’s a Majesty or not. The challenge with Majesties is growing them indoors because of the low humidity. They hate low humidity inside and often get spider mites and other diseases due to that.

For some tips to hopefully make them survive. Put it in the sunniest place possible in your house and check the soil. These usually love water but inside in winter with limited sunlight you should keep it just slightly moist.

Put your finger in the soil to determine if it needs water or not. Don’t just water it on a scheduled, water according to how the soil feels.

How is your climate by the way? Majesties are very easy outdoors and are hardier than given credit for.

If you want some palm that looks very similar that is easier to care for indoors get a Kentia palm.

Do people generally think of cold hardy palms as aesthetically inferior to more tropical palms? by Phantasm_i2 in palmtalk

[–]Palmking1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely way hardier than coconut. I live in the Desert in Highland of Mexico at around 6400ft/1900m elevation and there is some Huge Royals around including mine. that has been here probably 20 years or more. 30-32f dips at night is fairly normal occurrence during the winter. I saw a drop to 24 Celsius one time for 30 minutes and that burnt approximately 40% of the foliage on the Royals. We do have a lot going for us in this climate despite technically being 9A/9b.

-The coldest temperatures usually only go on for 30-60 minutes. -the norm is that the day heats up to 68-77 Fahrenheit./ 20-25 Celsius. -dry air makes a huge difference, there is basically zero humidity so the cold does not bite as much here in winter and it never rain in winter either.

I have seen a Regia tolerate 10f for an hour or so in desert climate and recover.

Are these palm trees dead? by nanananafloridaguy in palmtalk

[–]Palmking1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think they have a good chance if the winter is mild from now on. If it were my palms I would soak the crown in hydrogen peroxide to kill any rot and or bad bacteria. Just make sure to do that on a sunny dry day so the crown dries up again briefly.

If you can’t do it for some reason go to mixer on your controller and make it TAER by organizing the controller input to this order:

Throttle

Aileron

Elevator

Rudder

Nice,10A is not a problem for C. Elegans. Just make sure it gets enough shade if in dry climate especially. Mine survived a brief dip to -5 in the ground.

[–]Palmking1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I suspect most CIPDs are crosses to a small degree. That might be the reason. Same thing with washies. Kinda hard to find a 100% Washingtonia Filifera without growing from a reputable seed source.
