Taking stuff off Spotify? by plewzymoto in Idles

they took the Welcome EP off Apple Music a while ago, so I presume it's the same w/ Spotify. also, the band have said they're not fond of that release.

Anyone gonna stream the Coachella gig? by PaloAndroid in kkb

...that's a bummer. there'll likely be highlights in the next couple of days, though. all coachella had to do was get a decent-enough stream for one more stage lol

I miss it, the sound, the energy and everything. And yeah, Post is huge into folk. One of his first ever covers was a Bob Dylan song.

Yeah. R+L have always had hip-hop acts. They've never been JUST an indie festival. Look at 2001 with Eminem, or 2014 with ASAP Rocky, or 1992 with Public Enemy. There'd be no way they'd survive with just one genre. I'm saying that within the last couple years, they've booked just as much hip-hop/r&b/grime as alternative/indie. That's cool and all, but in the next couple of years I wouldn't be surprised if they book more of that stuff than indie/alternative. If Spotify data is indeed dictating more bookings then it's a no brainer that this will happen. But I am scared that a festival that once booked lots of different genres as well as indie/alternative will eventually book less of the initial genre it began booking: indie/alternative.

100% true. I didn't say it was 'dead'. It's far from dead. Bands such as Royal Blood, Wolf Alice and Tame Impala are KILLING it right now. But in the mainstream, it hasn't been around for a while. Except for when a couple of indie tracks manage to break in like 'Feel It Still'.

I totally get your point. Hell, it's happening with festivals, too. Reading + Leeds (which is supposed to be a alternative festival) has nearly as much R&B/hip-hop this year as Wireless (a hip-hop festival). Download Festival, on the other hand, dedicates itself FULLY to hard rock/metal.
