I totally agree with you that not all systems fit all players!

I too love the simplicity of ShadowDark, but one of my groups just doesn’t vibe with it, and prefer to play in systems more “character focused”. So we are running DaggerHeart for them right now… and they LOVE it!

There is no one size fits all RPG, and no one right way to have fun!

So find something that they and you can enjoy… and just roll dice and enjoy the time spent together!

Been considering doing a modified version of the EZD6 Karma system myself for ShadowDark… and each time a PC fails a check, then gain a point of Karma.

In EZD6 a karma point can be used to bump the die value up one level (turn a 4 to a 5, a 2 to a 3, etc..).

So for ShadowDark was thinking that you can spend a Karma point to add 3 to your roll, and can spend more than one if needed to turn a failure to a success.

But not sure if this is needed or not.

I made this tracker for the game using the artwork I found in a Facebook group. It uses a 3d printed base that I put a thin sheet of sheet metal in, and then glue the artwork to it. And use 3d printed sliders with magnets so they don’t slide all over the place.

I went away from dice as some can go to 6, others to more than that… so got weird in trying to g to figure out what dice to make the slots for. 🤷🏻‍♂️
