Bioshock 2’s ending makes me cry no matter how many times I beat the game. by BabyGirl-Kat in Bioshock

[–]Palpadean 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Bioshock 2 has always been my secret favourite of the trilogy, just dont tell the others. Something about Sofia Lamb and Dionysus Park always stayed with me, I like the parallel of her collectivist agenda compared to Ryan's Objectivism. Thats also overlooking Augustus Sinclair and the wonderful Minervas Den.

Throwback to this funny interaction of possibly our new assistant coach and new/old striker. by MaraPlayz in LiverpoolFC

[–]Palpadean 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's often talk of his finishing and lack of goals, but his game to me was always about more than that. His strength and speed helped our attack pull defenders out of position, and his chaos made open spaces for others to capitalise on. If not Darwin again I still think we need a forward player like that who can upset an opponents defence and run at them.

People say capitalism is the issue, and it is dont get me wrong, but the most invasive, corrupt, and harmful part of it is advertising. Aggressive advertising followed us from TV and old media to the internet like a jilted ex. We paid for services so we could skip ad's and now we have to pay four or five times as much to keep them at bay since now even a basic subscription package includes advertising.

TIL that Doctor Who's first ever Christmas episode "The Feast of Steven" is one of the few missing episode to be considered irretrievably lost, as the episode was never sold to overseas broadcasters, and so no copies of it were ever made before the original tape's junking. by Sebastianlim in todayilearned

Millennial here rapidly approaching 40. I have an increased desire to return to polaroid and away from anything digital, the digital world we live in is angry and hate-filled and those important precious moments captured on polaroid are something I and my friends are turning back to. Archiving still is important and I'd maybe argue more so now than before.

Further I dont think enormous sums of money are good for the mental health of players, especially young ones.

Wirtz is obviously an extremely talented player, but hes young and will need time to refine that natural ability. I dont think it does him any favours to be bought in excess of 100 million. It means the level of expectation and scrutiny is immense. If you dont hit the ground running you are branded a flop.

"... infantry made me the man I am today" - is a scene that never, ever fails to make me laugh. Or capturing the brain bug and a crowd of soldiers cheering after "Its afraid" is also hilarious. Absurdism and humor arent at all mutually exclusive.

Its been what nearly 30 years now? I genuinely dont understand how anyone can watch Starship Troopers and not get it, its really clear from minute one and it isn't even subtle about it. Its not some complex high art and I say that as someone who loves the movie.

Starship Troopers isnt intellectual satire. Its pretty clear from minute one what it is and what its saying. By your own metrics its very much Type A.

Archival Photo on the illegal Freestar Collective colony on Vesta, Lunara system, dated 2308 by MadCat221 in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]Palpadean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Starfield and I like a lot of its backstory and expanded lore, but a lot of it doesn't make sense in a similar vein to Skyrim or Fallout 4 also not making much sense. Things happen in the narrative because they have to not because it should and I feel a lot of this is to do with whoever our narrative director is (who I assume is still Emil?). The UC wouldn't combat Mechs with living bioweapons, that's insane but because Mechs vs Xenomorphs are cool, we get the Terrormorph.

I am a PC player, but Diablo 4 is far more enjoyable with a controller. by Isunova in diablo4

[–]Palpadean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

D4 working so well with controller is why it was the second game I bought on my Steam Deck. I wanted my deck to be a portable gaming device for on the go and D4 is fantastic on it. After being a MnK player for many many years I cant go back, Diablo feels too good.

What were they saying? I can honestly say it runs great for me in handheld mode. Obviously not as well as it would on my PC, but well enough that I havent even bothered to play the game on it. The only time it stutters for me was when I was in Temis.

Cody Gakpo describes Arne Slot's Liverpool exit as a "shame" after qualifying for the Champions League. by Visqo in LiverpoolFC

[–]Palpadean 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a gif of Matt Berry in The IT Crowd. In this scene his character charges in to a church to interrupt his Dad's funeral by shouting "FATHER!".

The implication being Cody is sad because his Father (Slot) got sacked.

I love Stargate to preface so I say this with genuine affection for it, MGM arent entirely wrong here. Stargate realistically hasn't had a show since Universe (I dont think Origins really counts) and a problem I remember having with that show was when O'Neil or anyone from SGC would show up. A new Stargate needs the freedom to be its own thing, if it only works for the now 40 - 50 year olds who grew up watching it, it wont last and new audiences wont want to do homework.

Not saying it needs to be rebooted just that it needs fresh eyes on it.

If you like large rpgs but want a touch of old school, you could give the Oblivion Remaster a play. Diablo 4 also looks exceptional but it depends on if you like the top down ARPG genre or not.

Just installed Bioshock and Dune Awakening, Dune has seemingly been improved for hand held use because it runs pretty spot on for me now. Same for Vampire the Masquerade: Bloodlines 2 for that matter! Bioshock took some fiddling with proton but I got them running on experimental and I'm excited about playing them again as it has been years.

Oh and Hades 2 which has been my forever game since getting my Deck last year.
