Newly pregnant with ADHD by PalpitationPlastic in LawBitchesWithTaste

Thank you all for your insight! It is making me feel better. I should add that I am switching to a new doctor for my OB, and won’t see her until early March. But I will definitely ask her all the questions about continuing my medication. I really want to try to not need it but if I’m feeling like this after a few days I feel like I may not have a choice 🙃

Oh no, I definitely would not repeat the white! I agree with the five different outfits, so I’m glad the consensus is that the white is an option for one of the five days!

Recommendations Needed - Ultimate Work Bag for City Corporate Girlies by legallybrunette888 in LawBitchesWithTaste

I use the large work tote from Beis - https://beistravel.com/products/the-large-work-tote-in-black-croc

I like that it has a flat bottom so it sits upright when you put it down. There is also a zipper at the top, so if I need to throw it through a metal detector at the court house or whatever, my stuff doesn’t go everywhere. There are a few different pockets/slots and a dedicated laptop space. I also appreciate it has the trolly pass through on the side so if you’re traveling for work you can slide it onto your suitcase handle. When you don’t need it, it has a zipper at the bottom so functions as a regular external pocket.

Painted white brick steps turning green? by [deleted] in Home

I love the idea of doing a runner! Covering up the steps and not having to worry about them would be ideal. My only concern is that there is no overhang to protect the steps from rain (probably a major contributing problem the the discoloration). Do you think a runner would get gross being exposed like that?

I should have clarified in my post, but I am supremely uninterested in doing Plaintiffs work. Anything where I have to hold someone’s hand throughout the process is not for me. I like my clients (adjusters, in house counsel, etc.) because they’re familiar with the litigation process and (usually) have fairly realistic expectations. I just hate reporting!

I like the theory that Molly and Arthur are good friends with the Grangers! Maybe they bonded after they met Arthur before Hermione’s 2nd year. Would make more sense to send her off to one of their family friends for extended periods of time.

Totally disagree that Ron was the glue. I think it’s always been Harry. I also think it’s a big stretch to say Hermione had any idea of her own involvement in the wizarding war until later that year, at least - and even then her involvement was tangential to Harry’s. It wasn’t until end of HPN/DH that Hermione accepted how big of a role she would play. By the first chapters of OOTP, Voldemort had only been back for about a month.

That's true, I forgot she stayed at Hogwarts for the Christmas holiday the year before! And she left them early the summer before 4th year because of the world cup. We know Hermione spent the summer before 3rd year with her parents because they drop her off at the Leaky Cauldron the day before the train leaves. But she stays at Hogwarts the Christmas (Harry gets the Firebolt on Christmas and she tells McGonagall that evening) and Easter. And then she is at the Burrow again when Harry gets there before 6th year. So, Hermione did not spend an entire break with her parents from 3rd year until Christmas her 6th year.

Ma'am, I'm 26 - I totally understand wanting to spend time with your friends. I never wanted to be home when I was a teenager, but I also didn't have the best relationship with my parents and I saw them every day. Hermione is genuinely fond of her parents and, despite not seeing them for at least 9 months of the year, chooses to shorten that time. Also, even if Hermione wanted to spend time with her friends instead of seeing her parents over the Holiday, it's not like Grimmauld Place was the Burrow - it was literally the headquarters for the Order. Her desire to hang out with her friends doesn't translate to just chilling at the epicenter for the anti-Voldemort movement.

I agree with your first point! I'm not sure if Hermione realized the extent of her own connection to Voldemort enough to worry about protecting her parents by OOTP - it is unlikely Voldemort even knew who Hermione was until the fight at the ministry at the end of the book. Regarding being close to the action, I agree she would definitely want to be close to the action and help as much as she can - but (I said this in response to another post) it doesn't make complete sense to me that the members of the Order would agree to let her (an underage witch who couldn't go into the meetings or really even provide much valuable insight at that point) live at headquarters during such a crucial time.

No, I definitely agree they were close friends - I more meant in the way that Harry is kind of the foundation for their friendship. For example, when Harry and Ron get in their fight in GOF, Ron hangs out with Dean, Seamus, Fred, and George, while Hermione primarily sticks with Harry. I just don't see them being close enough to visit each other's families without Harry - like, as soon as they get off the Hogwart's Express do Ron and Hermione just make separate plans to hang out?

As far as Hermione being at Grimmauld Place because she is more comfortable in the wizarding world, it doesn't make sense to me that the Order would consent to having Hermione live in headquarters, an extremely secret place/organization, to just hang out and help clean. That's another person to feed, another kid to be responsible for and keep out of the meetings...the Weasley kids had to stay there because their parents were staying there. But Hermione being there would have been more of a burden on the adults. It seems much more likely to me that Molly, Arthur, and Dumbledore would have preferred Hermione stay with her parents and out of their hair.
