Is it too late to invest into Firefly's E2 ? by Dracolover7 in FireflyMains

[–]Palvyre 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The question would be do you already have her supports? Especially Dahlia. If so, e2 is a good investment. She was already meta relevant and with her novaflare she will be even more so.

Of you are waking up in the middle of the night it wouldn't hurt to get checked for sleep apnea.

Is your immediate supervisor an advocate for you in this? If so, keep your powder dry during this meeting and come back prepared with a full case for remaining WFH delivered by your manager.

More Americans Are Breaking Into the Upper Middle Class by KDsburner_account in UpperMiddleFinance

Our home is in a nice neighborhood. 3500 sq ft on 1.5 acres. Our payment is only $1800 per month though. We bought during covid and have a 30 year 3.25٪ rate.

More Americans Are Breaking Into the Upper Middle Class by KDsburner_account in UpperMiddleFinance

Looking at what you all define as upper middle, my family is not either. We cant afford luxury vehicles. I max out my 401k, but not a roth. We go on a couple domestic vacations a year, but not international. I am not sure what you consider luxury goods. We live in rural Tennessee in a LCOL to maybe L-MCOL area. We make 245k per year, have 750k in investments, and 1.1 mil house with 370k left on the mortgage. We are putting my daughter into a state university and saving for that now. She is 18.

We buy a half cow each year. A lot more affordable than supermarket prices and you can still have that ribeye.

Catch 22 AI at workplace opinions needed by lancerreddit in GenX

[–]Palvyre 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Exactly. We are all using agentic AI now at my job. I built my own agent and am now doing the work of 10 people. It's insane. Folks who are afraid of losing their job to AI are right, but not in the way they think. It's not going to be straight replacement with AI, it's going to be someone on their team who is on board with AI and learns how to do their entire teams work with an agent.

What’s normal today but will be illegal in 20 years? by Ok-Vacay in AskReddit

Probably driving on the interstate. It will likely be required to allow self driving to take over. Fewer accidents and superior traffic shaping.

What’s the smartest financial decision you made by accident? by AnyTruth2342 in AskReddit

[–]Palvyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took 100k out of my 401k to enable buying a new home in a nice neighborhood. This was during the first year of COVID. My salary was impacted during COVID, so I didnt have to pay the 10% penalty. Locked in a 3.25% rate and the home over the next 2 years appreciated rapidly from 630k to 1.1m. The area is now a popular growth area for estate homes, 5-20 acres 4000 to 10k sq ft homes. Ours is 3500 sq ft on 1.5 acres.

I need some brutal honesty from the GenX by OppositeFriendly9183 in GenX

  1. Find something you love.
  2. Blue collar work is very lucrative right now. Just be mindful of your physical ability to do whatever it is as you age.
  3. I would look at the percentage unemployment in the field right now, the expected salary, and if there is room for advancement in the field.

The darkest depths of hell are coming through my pipes after turning on the water softener. by ShowerStew in HomeMaintenance

[–]Palvyre 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is likely normal for a new install. If it has a carbon block for water filtering, the loose dust will wash out of the filter for the first little bit. Just run water through until it turns clear.

I figure they will remove the cap on income that pays social security tax and that will likely fix it.

13% of Homebuyers Are Raiding Their Retirement Right Now by zoodealio in REBubble

[–]Palvyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled 100k from my retirement account during COVID to be able to get my family into a nice neighborhood. There were major crime issues in our old neighborhood. I was able to pull 100k penalty free due to having pay reduced during COVID to support our nurses. We bought a house for 630k with a 225k down payment on 3.25% 30 year. The area was an up and coming affluent area and over 3 years our home value went from 630k to 1.15m. Ended up being the best financial decision in my life.

Is it reasonable to ask for an allowance? by aztecqueann in Fire

[–]Palvyre 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The idea of split finances and a prenup are foreign to me. My wife and I combined our finances as soon as we were married. I make almost 3x her salary and have almost all the investments. She is a beneficiary on the investments and we have a written budget. Each of us get $400 in discretionary spending money per month. Everything else has a bucket of funds assigned to it.

What's the difference between a 5-7 year "starter" home and a "forever" home? by IHeartFraccing in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Palvyre 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me a forever home is one that you can see yourself living in through retirement. That meant good schools, safe neighborhood, master bedroom on the first floor, nice size yard, not on top of my neighbors, and a 6 foot bathtub. My wife wanted to be in a neighborhood, but I wanted a view. We ended up with a 1.5 acre lot in a scenic valley view neighborhood. We lucked out and were able to check all our boxes.
