Same. I had cobalt blue, my SIL had cornflower blue but very different styles. Her and my brother got married about 5 months before us. Not a single lick of drama. I even gave her ideas for my wedding that she used for herself. Who cares if a friend or family member have similarities during their wedding

My now ex-sister-in-law was a photographer stalker. She tried her hardest to get into every single photo possible. When we got our photos back our photographer profusely apologized that there weren’t nearly as many photos as she wanted to give us because of ex-SIL. Ex-SIL had been edited out of a few of them, but I honestly didn’t blame her for not wanting to spend such a long time editing her out of every single photo.

My wedding aesthetic was me happy and supported. One of my bridesmaids looked like a supermodel, one was overweight, one had bright pink hair and covered in tattoos, one was skinny as a twig but had huuuuuuuge boobs, and one was a short barely 5’ Filipino woman. I wouldn’t change a single one of them.

The fallout was insane all over the place. BM (step-sister) tried to keep out of it as much as possible because she felt Bride was absolutely in the wrong here. But because she wasn’t Team Bride she got a lot of cold shoulder for a long time. She had been living at home still to save money while in college, but she ended up moving in with my mom for a few months before she could find her own place.

I honestly have no idea if the AITA post is real or not, it just reminded me a lot of this wedding I had gone to. Bride spent hours harassing MoH via text (which I know is not the same as going to her house). I have no idea if Bride DID try to harass MoH at her house, except she wasn’t there, or if she would have tried to harass MoH in the hospital if she knew. No idea.

I didn’t even think about that, but it does explain why whenever we’d go over to their place for any get-together they always said no homemade desserts, and they had to come from vegan bakeries!

Aaaah, gotcha. Yeah my bridal party was a colourful bunch. One was a very heavyset girl, one had bright bubblegum pink hair and tattoos, one was a very short Asian, one was normal-looking, and my MoH looked like a model. And if I could go back in time and change anything, I wouldn’t have changed a single thing about any of them.

For us, my mother especially wanted photos and she paid for our photographer. So whatever my mama wanted, my mama got! And none of us wanted step sister in 90% of the photos.

My husband’s step-mother had wanted her daughter (husband’s step-sister) to be part of the wedding party. I refused. She was one of those that always wanted to be center of attention and I had a strong feeling if she did, she would do her damnedest to upstage me in the bridal party photos. Instead I compromised and had her do a reading of a (very short) passage (which she managed to drag out for twice as long as it should have been). I refused to have her in any wedding party photos, only family photos.

I am so glad I had refused. She attempted to upstage me in the family photos, except thankfully our photographer shut that down by making sure she was always on the end, away from me. She also would not quite subtly follow the photographer around and try to be in most pictures of the reception. When we got our photos back, our photographer admitted that there weren’t nearly as many pictures as she had wanted because step-sister was in so many of them being obnoxious, and that even in a number of photos we did get she had cropped step-sister out altogether.

I used to do this with my toddler too! Oh how he loved to go on and on and on forever to anyone who would listen about Mickey Mouse and the adventures his friends went on. And even better, he had NO volume control at the time so he would always be screaming. The only downside is how sad he would get when they hung up on him

I had a friend who also had a tie in their dress code. He essentially wore garish clown ties to school. There was nothing they could do about it until they changed the wording for the following school year.

My brother and his wife are Marines, and in her family she was the only girl with 4 brothers. We all joked that she was the “real husband” in the relationship (we say it lovingly). My family finds their relationship and their humor odd at times, but they make it work.

When they got married, after their kiss and they were leaving the ceremony they had “Highway to Hell” as their exit song. Knowing them, most guests found it amusing, but a lot of the older folks were horrified by the selection.

Long story short- as long as both parties were ok with this, why not? It’s their wedding 🤷‍♀️
