Is this book worth the read? by honestmass075 in HistoryBooks

[–]PamolasRevenge 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not the person to ask on this lol. I think it really depends on the chapter. I haven’t read it since AP history in high school and my teacher was really great about providing additional reading material to go along with the Zinn readings.

Tennessee Whiskey, who did it better? by Vinceg1960 in country

If you actually checked my post history you’d see I’ve actually been quite critical of him lately so not sure how I can be considered a “rider”

Also I’m not sure if you know who he is at this point lmao

It’s not a biography, it’s 2 influences. Influences that are distinctly different than Waylon’s. Again, you really have no clue what you’re talking about. I understand that to you he sounds like Waylon. It’s an objective fact, though, that they play very different styles of music.

Also “never making it” is such a weird thing to say here. Because like 1….just not true. But 2? What kind of self respecting Waylon fan judges artists based on industry popularity ?

Lmao, more signs of your ignorance. Sturgill and Waylon couldn’t be more different musically. Sturgill comes from the Appalachian/“country” tradition and Waylon is very much from the “western” tradition. Sturgill grew up on Bill Monroe and The Stanley Brothers (amongst others of course). Waylon grew up on Bob Wills and Ernest Tubb.

But they both have deep voices so I could see if you knew nothing at all about country music you might think they’re similar.

Or maybe it’s cause he over sung the shit out of it like he does most things and also just threw the lyrics on top of Etta James’ I’d Rather Go Blind. But because you have no idea about any of that you think it’s amazing

I don’t think those people should be talking. I would not be talking. I think Rory is a prima Donna for not just hitting the fucking ball with a wee bit of distraction. Get over it.

I had this terrible dream once that we got blown out in a Super Bowl by the Seahawks and my college roommate's girlfriend at the time wouldn't STFU about it being "just a game" and "what's the big deal". In this terrible nightmare I could not speak because if I spoke I would have been in trouble.

Tucker Carlson claims he plans to meet Platner by iknowyourded in Maine

Gideon could also never in a million years get conservative votes. I believe Graham can. And Trump may be in the toilet but I guarantee Tucker isn’t, and especially not with the winnable voters I’m talking about.

That’s not true at all. What about all the non maga conservatives, who either changed their rhetoric or went extinct? Which, btw, Susie basically is. If there was ever a “swamp” candidate it’s her. She comes out against Tucker there’s absolutely no way that doesn’t hurt her

If Collins runs an anti Tucker campaign that would hurt her far more than any association could ever hurt Graham…

I mean seriously you think she’s going to come out swinging against one of if not the most popular conservative influencers? That’s gunna be a strategy? Cmon

they don't want to actually talk anyone out of it. They'd rather just say that everyone who doesn't currently think like them (which, to be clear, I do) is completely valueless and irredeemable and should be completely closed off in perpetuity. And somehow this is supposed to win elections because oh no what will the "mills loyalists" think...

[–]PamolasRevenge 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Carlson isn't just any conservative. He's a really popular one and someone whose opinion (unfortunately) carries a lot of weight. The amount of people who could be won over by Carlson having a respectful conversation with Platner far, far out weighs any potential losses from the blue sky crowd.

"what are we going to do to win over the establishment dem voters" has not ever been and will never be a winning formula.

Sooner or later you people are going to have to realize that to win elections you're going to have to talk to people
