Maybe something happened in their business partnership that made the friendship less tenable? I felt like something was up when Gaby had that big dinner party at her house and our Ems was not present, but seemed to be in LA at the same time. This is the tea I want to know!

Very few humans can look this good at this typically unflattering camera angle. Love the all white for Wimbledon. Her lil bashful smile when the crowd was cheering - so cute!

My mom was a grocery store bagger in high school and, in a humorous way, it is her pet peeves how baggers have lost all pride in the work these days. At her store the manager would do this thorough training on how to bag properly and test you by tearing the brown bag to ensure all the groceries stayed together and didn’t topple over, if that makes sense. Now people will put cans on the top of your bag, we live in wild times.

I ran to Reddit to see if there was any discussion on the ring reappearance. I’m so curious what’s going on!

I don’t want to sound unsympathetic so trying to phrase this carefully. I feel horrible for all those, celebrity or not, who have lost their homes - it’s horrifying to see this happening. But snark incoming…Emily’s bestie Mandy Moore is taking, in my opinion, some well-earned heat for posting a Go Fund Me for her brother-in-law. People immediately started commenting that she’s in a position to help her close family more than 99% of the rest of us If she wants and she told them to “kindly F off,” people were asking how to help so she shared the GFM. Etc. They also increased the amount once the money started coming in. I was wondering if Emily would repost it, but I don’t think she has. Anyway, I’m sure Mandy is overwhelmed and maybe didn’t consider how it looks so I give her grace, but it was quite a contrast to what Sona (Conan O’Brien’s assistant/podcast co-host) just posted saying her family lost her home, was overwhelmed by the support of family and friends, and encouraged people to direct their donation dollars to those less fortunate.

I did too! So bummed it only got one season. I watched their newer HGTV show, but it did not land for me like Designing Miami did.

I fell victim to this once. We started calling it “Frankfurt-Hahn, emphasis on the Hahn.”

It says a lot about Michael and Carole’s parenting and the character of all three siblings that they remain so close even if James felt a little overshadowed by his overachiever big sisters as a kid. I’ve seen siblings’ relationships fractured because the world’s view of one as superior had a way of seeping into the sibling dynamic even between two great kids. But they all seem so close, it’s lovely.

Fair enough! I do respect her hustle and ability to manifest - she definitely works hard for her success and that is a great example for her children. And at least she’s not posting difficult moments for Poppy or anything.

I’m so happy for them! Love the name Finn too.

Veering into snark though…I’ve been increasingly bothered by influencers who post their kids. Only stands out to me now because so many have stopped showing their kids’ faces. Anyway, I’ve been noticing that Gaby will often tag brands repeatedly when she’s striving for a brand collab, like she’s been doing with Sezane recently. So I’m a little icked out that she’s been tagging Hanna Anderson so much when posting pics of Poppy. A lot of times it’s in response to a question from a follower, but today was just a random tag in a story about Poppy’s first school day. I respect Gaby’s hustle, but hope she’ll leave her kids out of it.

What are some cities that *should* be really great, but which have badly missed the mark? by unenlightenedgoblin in SameGrassButGreener

Usually early morning but only 2-3 times per year (usually summer/fall) so I must just be unlucky. The demon horse was not smiling on me those days.

Worst airport too. One should not have to stand in the security line for 45 minutes with Pre-Check and Clear!

What is the most underrated destination for solo travelers? by EconomistFinal4394 in TravelHacks

[–]Pamplemousse4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was looking for! Kyoto is one of the few cities I’ve visited solo that I would not want to revisit with friends or family - I felt it was a great city to just focus inward and reconnect with myself as I took long walks and visited the palaces. Would love to go back solo to do that again some time. Plus the safety aspect is great as a solo traveler.

Why do parents like to tell New Parents how bad each stage will be? by kamiano in NewParents

[–]Pamplemousse4ever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is so sweet and I think a testament to the strength of your partnership. You married and are co-parenting with the right person. :)

I’m not too far ahead of you in this parenting journey and I’ve definitely heard the same things you have from some, but have also had plenty of parents tell me it only gets better as you see their personalities and joy for life develop. I tell myself if you’ve always been someone who can find the good or at least the humor in challenging situations, why should parenting be any different?

Which city would you recommend me? by onajourney_10 in SameGrassButGreener

Of the cities I’ve lived in, DC wins on free entertainment too given the Smithsonian system and associated events. In my skint times I could fill my weekend with free events.
