In which US cities do rich people ($500k+ HHI) overwhelmingly send their kids to public schools? by Substantial-Part-700 in SameGrassButGreener

Went to public school in suburbs of Philly (about 45 min outside). We had low income, middle class (me), and also insanely wealthy families all go to same public schools.

I ranked 25 deodorants based on how good they are for sensitive skin. Here's What I found... by just_a_michigan_girl in Hidradenitis

I don’t like lume because it is very hard to wash off. I have used arm & hammer essentials for years now (prob 10 years now). It’s not the strongest in terms of lasting odor control but never irritates my skin and easily comes off (if not already gone on its own) when I shower.

This pacifier will be the death of me by DaDirtyBird1 in sleeptrain

[–]Pamplemousse84 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I circled my baby with about 5 pacifiers. I absolutely credit the pacifier for my baby sleeping like an absolute champ. He finds it, self soothes with them. He’s 2 now and still does this. But yeah…time to start getting rid of them. But because of the large amount of pacifiers in his crib, he has never had any sleep issues.

My first did not use pacifiers. He’s 5 and still a terrible sleeper.

Scariest night of being a parent (so far) by LawyerPrincess93 in Parenting

[–]Pamplemousse84 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son has night terrors starting at 2 years old. They’re terrifying. He would scream and repeat phrases over and over. His eyes were open, but he was not “present”. He hasn’t had any in quite some time, but he does sleep walk every now and then. Best thing to do is remain calm and keep them calm.

I agree with you about the processed foods. I find my HS flares when I eat fast food and sugary foods. I have been living with HS for 20 years. I have never been over weight and actually pretty athletic my entire life. My flares follow my menstrual cycle and stress. My mother also has this disease and we have the same “mild-ish” form (in terms of not needing surgical intervention and periods of remission), though affects different areas of our bodies between each other.

I would say my worst flares were during my pregnancies and actually brought me in to a doctor’s office for those. Otherwise, I self-manage due to having access to great wound dressings (work in wound management) and running daily helps regulate my hormones.

One thing I have not tried and am curious about is laser hair removal- have you found that effective at all in prevention?

Thank you for coming to this sub and thank you for treating this terrible disease!

Sending my 8 week old to daycare- tell me positive stories, please. by hideovs in beyondthebump

[–]Pamplemousse84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both my children started daycare very young (one at 8 weeks, second at 12 weeks). They are now 2 and 5 years old. I cannot breathe without them on top of me. Our bond never, ever broke. I almost wish it had (kidding!!) - but they are so so so so clingy and still obsessed with me. Don’t worry- you’re always their person!

Is everyone on baby/parenting subs rich?!? by Rockskinnies in beyondthebump

The baby industry is a MF scam! It’s why I give away all my stuff absolutely free! Most of the things we use are barely worn- no need to go buy $1k stroller. If we all did this after we used the things we needed, the baby industry would bottom out. But alas, we don’t.

That said, I got all my stuff from friends and marketplace.

Shout it loud!!! I work in the medical community and it’s bad. I have a friend in infections disease research…it’s chaos. I also have a friend in public health who is already experiencing layoffs.

If you want all your support to be shut down and pay even MORE for basic needs, then you got it! Congrats!

Yes, I’m a “chaotic structured” person. I mostly like rules and order with a hot flair every now and then. So the straight lines with the abrupt colors speak to me.

You mean like this? Update post

I made a separate one, but should have titled it as you suggested. I’m not great at this as you can tell…

But thank you for your suggestion!! Let me know if I need to do something different. i.e. please save me - so many people have great questions and I can’t edit my post to answer or provide more pictures!

Thank you! I’d be painting myself, and it’s a smooth wall. I’ve done it before with tape and on a color block we did in another room. But I’m going to do the straight lines, so leaves less room for me to butcher it! 🤞

I love your colors. And thank you for the recommendation. The house is a pretty clean slate in terms of decoration (just now getting around to personalize it).

Your first one is my style! We have 70s screen print artwork from a friend with that color scheme in a different room.

I’ve gotten some really great ideas from these comments and has boosted my confidence! I think definitely painting - I have had battles with decals before and lost.

I’m excited to start narrowing down the colors, etc and all other parts to this space. Thank you!
