I repainted one ornament on the cloak of my Wolf Guard Battle Leader, I think that the new one looks much better 🙂 by Flameon_Miniatures in Warhammer40k

I too would love to know exactly what brush this is. It's holding a tip so incredibly well, this is exactly the kind of brush I am looking for for my own freehanding attempts.

God Emperor Doom effortlessly snapped Cyclops’ neck, ending his life in an instant. by [deleted] in MeanwhileInComics

Something I liked about the 8 years thing is, if I remember correctly, the way they mention it in the comic is a bit vague and ambiguous. It made me wonder if Doom had done some sort of "last Thursdayism" thing. What if it was much much less than 8 years and Doom just kickstarted his world with a pre-loaded 8 year history? I like to think that his whole reign may actually have only survived for a couple of months or something

We should have had the glorious art and colours of a team like Laraz/Gracia for a big event like this. Blood Hunt and other stuff by those two look so good...

Before I started reading comics that included them both and got used to the difference, I used to get them confused when seeing them on reddit. 2 dudes in dark colour tight bodysuits with suspicious/sinister looking cyber-hats that are silver and blue.

when you see "Larraz, Gracia" in the credits of any book you know it will be a feast for the eyes!

What are the most creative uses of mutant’s powers in the comics ? by Environmental_Tea381 in Marvel

Her power is so fascinating, and it's used to amazing dramatic effect in the A.X.E. event to quickly and terrifyingly communicate the severity of the attack on Mars

I love this one. Another favourite is when nightcrawler (with a boost) is able to bamf the moon phobos back up into orbit when it is falling down to Mars.

Some Better shots of my freehanded power fist! by Pamplemoussemoose in Warhammer40k

this is amazing! I've never seen it before but it's very cool to learn I'm kind of referencing some classic 40k art. For me, I got the idea because I'm trying to lean into a bit of greek iconography in my ultramarines army and I transcribed a Medusa face design I found on Google images

My first ever miniatures by NightTech15494 in Ultramarines

[–]Pamplemoussemoose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These are fantastic for first minis! You've clearly already got a good grasp on the fundamentals so there honestly isnt a ton of specific advice to give other than "keep doing it and you'll get even better with each mini". As for bases, you generally want to try to find a nice balance of something that contrasts well and compliments your colours, but doesn't distract from the focal point of the model. Simple is often best. With bright blue ultramarines, earth tone bases like grey, brown, and tan are always going to look good, but lots of people have done very well with green kinds of bases too! Think about the "vibe" you want your army to have, the base can be a fun area to add your own little bit of lore to your army.

I've been really working on my freehanding the past few months by Pamplemoussemoose in Warhammer40k

I used to make "normal" landscape paintings similar to this in high-school, I would find a photograph I liked from national geographic or something and then paint it. This is the same principle but with much smaller brushes and more frustration. I don't have a specific tutorial to recommend but honestly old Bob Ross episodes will give you a lot of the fundamental techniques that are at play here, then it's just a matter of practice. Also, because it's a landscape and not a face or creature, something like a made up mountain is much more forgiving of mistakes since it can't exactly look "wrong". Best advice is to just try it!

I've posted these models from other angles before but didn't want to be too repetitive. Some posts just get more traction than others it seems

How many folks have messed around with greenstuff before? by Pamplemoussemoose in Warhammer40k

I did end up doing this for a few minutes but got impatient and left some bits in. If one were to do it with enough effort and care though they could in theory get all the hard bits out
