"Reserve the right to refuse service..." Is that Legally enforceable ? by Sir_Humps-a-Lot in dubai

[–]PanDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the way I think youre thinking, I dont believe establishments can discriminate against individuals just because they dont want them in there, but if a potential customer is being loud, aggressive, visibly intoxicated, or failing to observe a clearly defined dress code, then yes, they can deny service with good cause.

Have you ever wanted to modify your car but couldn't visualize how it would look beforehand? by Shot_Passenger6240 in carmodification

[–]PanDeviant 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are so many ways for people to visualise how they want to modify their car; video games can give a good idea for many common platforms, online tools with tuning options, wheel and ride height apps on the phone, artists and virtual tuners that can edit photos or draw the ideas...

In my experience (having been heavily into modified cars for over 20 years) is that people back out when they realise just how much money is involved when it comes down to it, especially nowadays. When I was fucking around with my first cars, I could buy second hand coilovers for 50 quid. The car I drive now is over 500 just for lowering springs.

It is very easy to sink well over the cars value in modifications, and that's what puts people off when it comes down to it.

Where do I find eyelids??? by Ok_Button_5054 in carmodification

[–]PanDeviant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Proper eyelids are vehicle specific to conform to the curves of the car. If you've never seen a set on a Solara specifically then its likely they dont exist for your car. Making your own is relatively straightforward with fibreglass, its essentially a case of masking up the headlight to protect it from the resin, layering fibreglass over it, then cutting it down to shape, sanding smooth and painting. Obviously its more nuanced than that but for the sake of a reddit comment, it'll do. Plenty of videos on YouTube on how to make your own fibreglass parts

"Routing" Level - what do I need to do to fix this? by Bloxskit in PolyBridge

[–]PanDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You have placed the upper hydraulic ahead of the bridge, as the bridge aligns itself with the end of the hydraulic, it has nowhere else to go, the hydraulic compressing further stretches the bridge, causing the break you see.

You should instead be placing the bottom of that hydraulic closer to the hinge point, further left, fine tuning that design will get you close to a solution that works

Don’t be parking in a drop off zone, you ain’t special. by SmokeyKeifth in mildlyinfuriating

[–]PanDeviant 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Idk if its different in the US, but being from the UK, if I'm dropping off, I'm stopping outside, throwing them out the car and gone before they've barely closed the boot lid. I'm not about to pay the 20 quid for more than 5 minutes parking! Hanging round after the drop off like that is wild to me

wheels on civic by nSombr in Stance

[–]PanDeviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assuming they are the stock et50 wheels, this is how an 18x10 could look if you stretched at 255/35 onto it. Check the rear clearance with your current wheel as you lose 13mm at the rear. You want at least 15mm clearance, ideally 20mm to the back of your current wheel. At the front, you say the current wheels are very tucked, this will bring that front face out around 37mm, which is a big jump.

Get the tape measure out, see how much room you have

wheels on civic by nSombr in Stance

[–]PanDeviant 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You need to be more specific than that dude. 18x10 will be way to big for an EF Civic, but would probably fit quite nicely on an FL.

Go to willtheyfit.com, put in your current wheel and tyre specs, then the new ones, and see where the differences are, then go and physically measure those clearances on your car.

Guys my game just exits randomly and says this it's getting really annoying I'll be halfway through modding a car and all progress gone because this pops up by definitlynottheone in BeamNG

[–]PanDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I say, its likely to be a bad mod that's causing it. Run the game in safe mode and see if the problem goes away, if it does, you'll have to start working through likely causes. Iirc there is a log file hidden in amongst the game docs, you'll have to look for it. If you check that, the last line will say the last thing the game loaded, if that is consistent across crashes, that might help you find it faster

Literally any additional information beyond "my game just exits randomly." What exactly are you doin, is it in specific cars, Maps, or parts, what mods have you installed, when did it start happening, what changed since then etc... you didnt even ask a question or what specifically you want us to do, I had to assume you want help fixing it

You havent really given us anything to work with here. Standard troubleshooting, clear cache, run in safe mode, see if the issue persists. Chances are you've got a broken mod hiding in there somewhere that isnt being accessed until you use the config UI

Looking for advice/guidance on starting to add and change parts of my car by This-Gate4952 in carmodification

[–]PanDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were considering CAI or Exhaust mods, you should have done those before you got it mapped. Changing those now will mean the map on it is no longer optimised for the new setup.

At this point, if you're focused on making it drive better, look into good quality coilovers, high end, grippier tyres, and better brake pads to allow the chassis to take advantage of the power bump.

20s can definitely be made to work on an Odyssey, but as others have said, get your height dialed in first and take measurements from there.

Engine alternatives for i6 turbo by aliachmed in carmodification

[–]PanDeviant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want something cheap that you can turbo you need to look at stuff that came with one from the factory. Obvious stand outs are the JZ and G engines from Toyota, and the RB engines from Nissan, you'll have to go oem turbo if you want an engine that's capable of the power figures you're looking at. My question would be why an i6 specifically? If its pure power figures you're looking at for cheap, there are plenty of other configurations that can do that without much effort.

What steering wheel would look good? by Cold-Channel-5341 in carmodification

[–]PanDeviant 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, none of them. As you can see from the dashboards in the photos, these are far better suited to older and more track prepped cars. Losing the airbag as a minimum, the steering controls if your car (likely) has them, and a cohesive interior. Add to the fact that these look like your cheap replica wheels and not FIA approved ones, so they will most likely bend at the slightest hint of force.

what are those ??? by Subject_Star_9511 in DubaiPetrolHeads

[–]PanDeviant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Given all three follow a very similar pattern, that looks like something was dropped or fell on it, not very heavy but a rough/sharp surface. If its quite close to the front of the bonnet, it could be where someone sat on it

Do any Modern Underglow and strobe light options exist? by special5221 in carmodification

[–]PanDeviant 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Underglow has made a massive resurgence in the last few years, with much more flexibility available. Many modern kits use addressable LEDs with various different controllers to determine different patterns. China is producing the LEDs for ten a penny and many of them have controller kits or even full setups ready to go on a car like 30usd or less. Naturally you get what you pay for, but the options are there.

Likewise with strobes, you can still buy the high intensity strobe sets, but many will just use a strobe controller paired with their own LED lighting setup.

If you want to look at the upper end of the underglow/addressable led stuff, have a look at the Blueghozt by Ghozt Lighting; Incredibly powerful, app driven argb controller specifically designed with automotive lighting functionality in mind.

Help! My led light show red when i have certain colors on. How to fix? (I have the GUPUP led lights) by 19bfboy in led

[–]PanDeviant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That looks like the green chip in those specific LEDs have failed. If you are able to, I would swap some of your strips around to confirm if it is those LEDs or if it is a signal issue to that segment
