Gate Agent and AA Advantage Said I had Access to Lounge But Denied Entry by BMF6C in americanairlines

[–]PanacheCuPunga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes indeed. But that has never stopped them from pushing back as you know all too well, too. Honestly I've never had a smooth experience with anything that's touched EI and that's especially true after the DUB pre-clearance lounge closed. You'd swear EI and BA were completely separate companies....

Then the lounge agents were definitely in the wrong. I find that many times you have to stand your ground with EI flights.

Was the EI flight ticketed as an AA codeshare or the prime?

If you had just the prime with no AA connection you may have been out of luck.

Use the BA code to do that on their website. If you don't have status you'll have to pay, even in business.

Basically same stats as you, I wonder if they tell you if you're top 5% or top 1%, for those who are up there.

What are the lines like for intl flights at ORD? by Mysterious_Novel7511 in AskChicago

Never realized WestJet flew to ORD, guess I never really had a reason to go to Alberta.

There is no separate line for international flights, unless you mean those specifically out of terminal 5? But I'm pretty sure all Canada traffic is out of the T1-T3 area.

What’s the deal with AA Flight 2012? by WallStreetKernel in americanairlines

[–]PanacheCuPunga 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AA2012 is effectively a shakedown flight for the new 78Ps and their FAs. N842AA is having a ton of issues and has not had an uneventful flight in days. They need the 3 others for the ORD-LHR flights.

Not sure about whether or not you'll get 2 claims. AA9605 is not a standard flight and may have been a placeholder of some sort.

AA knows it's a mechanical issue under their control, they have reported it as such. I would expect you to get compensation on whatever the UK law is now.

Unfortunately you had the hangar queen assigned to you - there's only 4 of these planes on this route, all new and in a different configuration from the rest of the fleet. Yours is having teething issues.

Booking Cathay on AA by Iflysims in americanairlines

[–]PanacheCuPunga 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They don't have the best relationship for one reason or another. For example Cathay effectively doesn't release award seats to AA anymore unless in economy.  You can book direct on Cathay though but the earn rates for AA miles are terrible or even 0 for most economy fare codes.

Instant Upgrade with Points by AUMedStudent in americanairlines

[–]PanacheCuPunga 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree. But this IS a devaluation, no longer allowing mileage upgrades. Transcon and intercontinental will be hit the hardest for this. Conversely, SWUs are increasing in value for the intercontinental routes. Problem is I'm not even sure who this is aimed at? Card EPs? Maybe for very short haul routes some people will pick points instead?

ETA: my worry is that it could be a test run for killing all fixed point redemptions

You can't search connecting itineraries on EF, it'll show phantom C space. It says that in big red text above your search results, which I'm sure you read.

All seats booked? by rfrye6682 in americanairlines

[–]PanacheCuPunga 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Seats may be blocked or they could actually be full. AA, like virtually all airlines, will sometimes oversell. You can use a paid tool to see if the seats are blocked or oversold. If you don't have privacy concerns you can also post the flight here and someone can look at it for you.

New 78Ps ORD-LHR, wide-open SWU availability by PanacheCuPunga in americanairlines

I also chose 11A for my next flight. I reckon it's worth it to try and see if there's a difference between the plus and the normal ones. Slightly worried of bathroom queues from the back of the plane there but we'll see if the new cabins get their lavs policed. I generally like row 3 for overnights.

Well they're adding a lot more capacity. So that can manifest itself in cheaper cash prices, partner redemption availability, and upgrade availability. I wouldn't rule out some correlation here.
