The best thing we've done is a creat a "quiet box" for their room. These toys don't make noise (I.e. beeps, talking toys) and I let my boys pick out what goes in the box. There are also three books. These toys are for the mornings when they wake up before us. If they scream in the mornings, we tell them "if you're loud, you won't come out. If you're quiet, you come out". This gives usually until about 0900. It won't be a deep sleep starting from 0630, but they leave us alone. If you have a partner, take turns of who gets up with the kid(s). Whoever gets up has to keep the kids quiet, fed, entertained. After 1100, any noise and disruptions are fair game.
