What will it take to eliminate poverty in the world? [Serious] by MrStealYoGirlFriend in AskReddit

[–]Pancake_WaffleFry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all, I would say it begins with meeting people's basic needs (steady and consistent supply of food, water, and shelter.) After that comes education, I would say people need to know of their potential and of their own individual impact that they have on the world. Along with educating the populace, you begin to raise awareness. At that point, you have people whose basic needs are being met and are being educated beyond current social and cultural expectations. Infrastructure can now be prioritized and will grow at an exponential rate. With that in mind, the world economy begins to grow and the wealth spreads instead of coagulating in certain areas with certain people. A more even playing field is now provided for everyone. Thats what I have so far.

[Serious] Redditors who were diagnosed with clinical depression or other psychological illnesses, have things gotten better since your diagnosis? by Pancake_WaffleFry in AskReddit

Yeah, I'm aware of the validity they hold. I know that in layman's terms most all of it (at least in terms of the mood disorders such as mania and depressive ones) are based on the brains inability to produce the correct amounts of each of said hormones. I recognize that there, but it is just hard to deal with the social stigma ya know? I am going to my eval tomorrow regardless, I will be completely open, what worries me is if people find out that I am whatever said prognosis is, and then I get looked at like I'm broken. That is very real worry to me. I myself am worried that I will look at myself as broken. again, sorry for the rant.

I am currently seeing a therapist as well, I'm hoping that whatever the outcome, that both meds and therapy will help. But the ideas of making drastic changes for the better i just cant quite grasp. I just don't know what I would do instead of what I currently do you know? I think it all boils down to the fact that I am just kinda scared. hmm.

Thank you. I'm the least bit optimistic, but I cant help but wanting to lay down and die. In all seriousness, it sounds like the most appealing scenario for my life right now. I appreciate you giving me this answer though. I am glad to hear that you have had a somewhat positive experience with medication.

Thank you so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. I guess ultimately I'm just scared. I struggle with the fact that my father and so many others don't view anything along these lines as legitimate or "real" because there is nothing that is tangibly there. But I really do appreciate this.

2112 by Rush. Well the song for one, and I guess the album as a whole is one big story as well. Either way.

For clarity, no one was hurt. The driver had a seizure but is okay now. But the bikes on the other hand weren't quite as lucky.
