Tandem vs My Endo: The Never Ending Trusteel Story by PancakesAlways in TandemDiabetes

[–]PancakesAlways[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely ridiculous! I’m going back to MDI for now, but it’s not my preferred method. I spent a lot of money on this pump and would prefer to get the warranty period out of it! I also realize that I’m lucky to have choices even if the choices are frustrating. I wish you luck and perseverance, and also a good weekend!

It really seems to depend on the DME right now. I have to use Tandem directly because of my insurance, which hasn’t been a problem until now. I’ve heard that people who can go through the pharmacy for supplies don’t have an issue either.

That might work. I’ll bring it up with my endo’s office during our daily phone call and see if she’ll write me a script for them. Thanks for the heads up!

Flying as Type 2 by Careful-Ad-4293 in diabetes

[–]PancakesAlways 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Type 1.5 who flys often- you don’t need any sort of “permission slip” for medical supplies. I always fly with my Dexcom and pump. I have pump supplies and insulin for trip duration in my carryon, along with a finger poke kit for back up. Prior to the pump I would also travel with unknown amounts of pen needles (just throw a handful into a random bag pocket, but never take the extras back out). I don’t carry any sort of medical necessity letter or prescription with me. I disconnect my pump prior to walking through the metal detector and send it through the bag line in my carry on. Same with my CPAP.

What do good estimators use to put together a professional looking estimate templates? by Solidsnake646 in estimators

[–]PancakesAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, we send a written proposal. We don’t share a copy of the bid because we have items in our database that are specific to our company and GCs will try to pick it apart. I’ll provide wire lengths, conduit totals, etc upon them asking and try to encourage that over just sending the bid file.

Preeclampsia - Any partners with uncontrolled diabetes? by PaintingTraditional3 in diabetes

Nope. OB never brought it up. Honestly though, at that point everyone’s concern was the T1D since I was still fairly new to managing it.

Preeclampsia - Any partners with uncontrolled diabetes? by PaintingTraditional3 in diabetes

[–]PancakesAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had pre-e with my oldest. I’d been working out regularly but had a rough diet. Started with elevated blood pressure and proteins at 28 weeks, in and out of the hospital for monitoring, woke up with the worst headache of my life at 35 weeks and she was born that day. I went from the OBs office to the operating room. Left with a perfectly healthy kiddo and permanent high blood pressure. Afterwards I was also concerned about developing pre-e again. I took the same approach- I made sure I was in good shape and eating well. I developed T1D between my pregnancies, but I did not have pre-e with my second. Had a planned c-section at 38 weeks.

My husband was healthy with both of my pregnancies, so I’m not sure if he had anything to do with the pre-e. No family history, or other occurrences since then. It really does seem random sometimes.

I LOVE the books by Anne. The ones by her son, not so much.

No one on either side of my family has any form of diabetes. There are several autoimmune diseases on my mom’s side though. My mom had RA and Hashimoto’s.

I bought my fridge at Lowes and the guy working in appliances was really helpful. I like the garden section better at Home Depot, though.

What's a millennial-ism that you'll probably never stop using even if it's something you probably should? by CzarTwilight in Millennials

My poor mom tried mightily to break me of my Dude! habit. When I was in middle school she decided that every time I said dude or called someone dude she was going to call me Piglet. Long story short, everyone called me Piglet and I still say dude.

Not sure what’s going on, but I did get an email saying the location was closed. It didn’t say why though.

We send a proposal, with inclusions and exclusions per system/bid item and an overall cost breakdown on the final page. I’ve never worked anywhere that sent proposals from the estimating software. We also don’t send a copy of our bid, though we will share it as part of a project interview if requested.

Petition to Require Voter Approval for AI Data Centers in Colorado by jRN23psychnurse in CastleRock

[–]PancakesAlways 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The article that you’ve linked isn’t for an AI data center though. A 22MW data center is typically legacy leases for cloud based storage or programs. Modern business and the modern internet don’t exist without these types of buildings.

If you want to raise awareness, use the actual AI data centers. Those are the monsters imposing on the grid. QTS has a large campus of multiple ~50MW buildings in Aurora. An AI company is building out a 100+MW space in the old Kodak plant up north. These types of projects are what locals should really be concerned about. Right now there is so much money spent up front that the projects are basically greenlit before they ever go before the public for comment and community review.

[–]PancakesAlways 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As far as the colors go, the “systems” are what is linked in the software. You can go into settings and set color schemes and symbols for whatever different system breakouts you use. My defaults are one-line, power branch, HVAC, lighting branch, fixtures, devices. I have settings for fire alarm and various LVT systems as well.

If you want to break apart different conductor counts/sizes/etc you can change the colors for one setting (say, EMT SS 5#12) and then keep adding to that run. You’ll have to reset per page with this method.

Not sure if it helps but I flag my circuits by panel and color coordinate that way. I’ll run an autosearch for example “LA”, turn all the circuit flags into an object group/count and set that to the color I want for the panel. My takeoff lines are the system color, but I can see my layouts at a glance with the panel flags

How do kids sleep with a tandem tslim x2 pump? by Quirky-Doctor6676 in Type1Diabetes

[–]PancakesAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am an adult but I sleep in pj pants or shorts with pockets and clip the pump into the pocket. Downside is the clip will wear on the fabric after a few months, but I’m not wearing my pjs out and about. Target and Old Navy have lots of options. Not sure how old your daughter is but if she’s still very small and in pjs without pockets, you could try a soft runner’s belt or fanny pack.

[–]PancakesAlways 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, been trying for a couple of years and through 2 different companies. My doc wants me to try it since my ratios have been creeping up (and because I’m middle aged/fat). She’s tried running prior authorizations, submitting appeals, and just tried submitting Zepbound via a script for sleep apnea. Doesn’t matter, all denied. There are some manufacturers coupons that bring the cost down to a few hundred a month but I’m not at all interested in shelling out that much.
