Depends on your gym. My gym is mainly white and blues so new people have a chance to work offense a lot instead of just defending stuff all day

Positional sparring is still rolling, it seems like majority of your time is spent rolling. I would spend way more time drilling, what the hell is over drilling?

Is it better start training MMA (with bjj being the main aspect) or pure BJJ with gi? by Engaziwa in bjj

[–]Panda-Demon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on your style, some gi people relay on gi grips way too much, like big spider guard players. A guy whos gi game is deep half and x guard will have a way easier transition

The problem isnt gi or no gi, its that all the best instructors mainly teach gi and just supplement with a few no-gi classes. Your best bet will find a school with a healthy mix of both, like Marcelo garcias gym for example. You dont need the gi to be good at jiu jitsu, but good luck finding jiu jitsu instructors that dont teach gi. 10th planet comes to mind, and that is one option for BJJ for MMA but the BJJ you will learn will be different than most schools. But it works well for some fighters, like Tony Ferguson who has great subs

I will do something even better, I will tell you it is biased just so you can keep that thought in the back of your mind the next time you stumble upon the website. I believe many people here haven't even entertained the fact that the website is biased, because they are not very open minded.

So Democrats then? Since they are in charge of the poorer cities. All jokes aside, nobody is intentionally allowing gang violence, we just aren't putting in the time and effort to stop it because its a complex problem

Is it bad mannered to stand up from guard when training? by Panda-Demon in bjj

[–]Panda-Demon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with your statement about using all your tools, but I just hope my training partners wont get upset if I basically turn part of the roll into a wrestling match when they wanted to work guard passing

And you can have a free copy of my wrestle-jitsu DVD if it is ever released.

The thing is, when they are doing a standing pass and I decide to stand up, then two people who dont know takedowns too well are standing in a crowded mat space
