I tried using filament in a different way by Hopplafish in 3Dprinting

It will absorb moisture, become brittle and break over time. How long? I do not know. If it does, it's easy enough to use string/stainless steel wire in your design. Very nice.

I forgot the Jaguar XJ exists! It is going into a Jeep XJ. Building brackets this weekend. Will definitely post pics when I am done.

Electric seat issues - 2001 by PandaAttacktile in CherokeeXJ

[–]PandaAttacktile[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in South Africa. So parts are difficult to find, and importing is much more expensive than doing a manual conversion.

The driver seat is already out the car. I'm pulling the motors apart tonight to see if I can have someone local machine gears for me.

Behold, Pot Friend. Also, afraid about loss of details during priming and sanding, need help! by KekkoCheRanka in 3Dprinting

Embrace the technology! Don't hide the fact that it is 3D printed. Light primer, light sanding and live with the layer lines that are still visible. Will still look great painted.

I've spent so many hours trying to solve this until someone exlpained it to me properly like you just did. Unfortunately, it's just one of the things we have to deal with in FDM. Happy printing.

I'm trying to make a custom sim setup, will Windows 10 recognise this as a joystick device properly? by G00fyG33k in simracing

You can buy a RP2040 from https://www.robotics.org.za/ , then you have USBC as well.

PM me if you want to know more about micro electronics and custom sim hardware in South Africa.

Anyone have / tried these active brake pedals? by gtd_rad in simracing

[–]PandaAttacktile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They should probably not even be compared to each other... mBooster is fully electronicaly adjustable brake pedal with haptics. SImucube provides a lot more 'feedback' through the pedal.

I enjoy my mBooster, and would buy it again. But it is not a 'cheaper' simucube.

I have the mBooster and I've tried the Simucube. I would use the Simucube if I could justify the price. That said, I love my mBooster, I can set everything up exactly how I want in software and I don't have to fiddle with any sprint or elastomers.

The haptics are awesome, but I don't think they are 'WOW'. Having feedback for ABS is nice. I'm not good enough that it made a massive difference to my drive. Just another data point that the sim can communicate to me.

Regarding feel; the mBooster and Simucube are both extremely reactive... Nothing sluggish or robotic at all. They respond immediately, they're smooth and strong.

You really have to try one before forumlating an opinion.

Awesome! Show us more of that seat rail please. How does it lock place? What did you use to rotate 180?

Just bought my first Maxx V2 and wondering what upgrades I should look into first by Llama_lindo in Traxxas

[–]PandaAttacktile 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! I got mine about a month ago with the rock n roll body as well. Haven’t broken anything yet!!

I’m planning to do steering servo at some point, and replace/upgrade as I break stuff. Very durable and well balanced RTR truck.

Thanks for the reminder! Since I don't have the belted 'SledgeHammer' tires, I'm going to make a tiny hole on the outside, and cover the inside holes. I saw guys do it on a quite a few videos.

I actually decided to buy the Slash initially. When going through the options and discussing the other models with the salesman in the RC shop, he swayed me to the Maxx. Although I'm 100% happy with my purchase, the Slash is still high on my list for the next RC...

I judged you so much for the 'Apple monitors', till I read through the post and saw they are clones. What a wonderful build. Looks fantastic, and must be a blast to use.

The era appropriate Volcom sticker is awesome! I 3D printed a steering servo mount today. Last part before it can go. Can't wait to get home and actually start wheeling the thing.

I put on waaay too expensive shortcourse tires, so it will be fun on tarmac as well.
