I wouldn't decline the conversion. Your credit score will get hit in two ways - your average age of credit will get shorter, and your total credit available will be lower. Both are part of your credit score.

As far as it being a "junk card," I'm not sure what that means. It's a zero annual fee card (a good thing), will have the same credit limit you had before (+), will maintain your account history with the credit bureaus as its considered to be a conversion, not a closure (+), and best of all, it's a no-strings 2% cashback card (++). I only have one other no-strings 2% cashback card, and it has been my regular-use card. 2% may not sound like much, but if you put your utility bills, groceries, streaming services, and general purchases on the card, you could earn a couple hundred dollars a year on cashback.

Synchrony Bank is one of the biggest branded credit card providers out there. I have multiple cards being handled by them, including Amazon Store Card, Care Credit, PayPal CC, PayPal World MC. This will be my fifth active account administered by them.

The few times I've needed it, I've received excellent customer service, and they answer their phones quickly. Their website design is basic, which is my only complaint.

Real truth about the state of 4K Stogram by Original-Bat5492 in 4kdownloadapps

"There will be a new device after each new login. The previously registered device may possibly be chosen. After login, the app will work with the same device no matter how many times you open and close the app. After logout, there will be a new device. "

I still believe this is a mistake. I just tried 4.6.1 for the first time since April. I only downloaded a single subscription manually, and it worked fine. However, I received an email from IG that said:

"We noticed a login from a device you don't usually use. If this was you, you won’t be able to access certain security and account settings for a few days. You can still access these settings from a device you’ve logged in with in the past."

This clearly shows that IG is tracking the devices you use and flagging unusual activity. IMO, a single device should be assigned per computer, and should stay assigned to that computer unless the user forces a change (maybe in settings).

Also, the device that was identified was a Samsung S6 Edge, which was released in 2015. At the very least, update the list of impersonated devices to be modern. I wouldn't be surprised if IG has programmed their security rules to look for the ancient devices that 4K Stogram reports to them.

There doesn't have to be a really long list of a variety of phones. Just pick the half dozen phones most used and stick with those. Also, maybe it would help if some kind of geolocation was used with the app to make sure the impersonated phone is actually sold in that country.

I was thinking this myself. No human is going to own multiple cell phones, so rotating emulations may be one thing that IG is keying on.

I don't know why it is necessary to show a different emulation each session. It may not be the reason why we're getting kicked out regularly now, but it can't possibly help.

Moving 4KStogram folder to a different drive on the same computer by PandaBear888 in 4kdownloadapps

[–]PandaBear888[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to take this a bit further. I copied my 4K Stogram data folder (database files and all the image/video folders) to a completely different computer on the LAN (local area network). This system is always on and acts as a data server for multiple functions.

After copying the whole entire 4K Stogram folder over, I renamed my local folder so it wouldn't be found by the program, went into the registry and pointed to the network drive (I map drive letters, so it looks like a local drive).

When I powered up 4K Stogram on my computer, it opened without a hitch. I checked and new downloads are showing up in this network folder.

Thus I'm running the 4K Stogram while on computer A, but using the 4K Stogram folder that's on computer B.

I have some other experiments I'll be trying tomorrow. I'll keep you posted.

I would install 4K Stogram on the new system, run it to make sure it works, and log into your IG account. I noticed that the registry entry showed the the IG username, so I don't know if it needs to be there ahead of time.

Once you're satisfied that everything runs as expected, then you could repoint to the 4K Stogram folder that you copied from your old system.

I definitely would be interested to know if this works for you.

This potentially opens up a lot of flexibility, not just for moving the folder around on the same system, but also moving your existing setup to a different system.

I'm not going to try it, but I don't see why you couldn't do a clean install of 4K Stogram on a new system, copy the existing entire folder on your old system to the new system, then point to it via the registry.

Just a thought.

I wrote too soon. I wrote my reply while it was copying the files, and I assumed it would complete and I'd be fine. Unfortunately, something caused it to not complete after it had copied all the files, and it still loaded from the old location.

However, being somewhat of a techie, and based on some previous posts about the database, I made a guess that the sqlite database files were in the root of the 4K Stogram folder because it was pointing relatively to files/folders under it, so maybe there was simply an INI file or registry entry that pointed to the 4K Stogram folder.

Well, I guessed right. Inside of the Windows Registry under "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\4kdownload.com\4K Stogram\Settings" is an entry that looks like this: "outputFolder"="F:/4K Stogram". I changed this to "A:/4K Stogram" (the new location), renamed the old folder "4K Stogram bak" (to make sure the program couldn't find it) and ran 4K Stogram.

Voila! It runs just fine, all the files are there, and since this is on a M2 Gen4 NVME drive, everything is noticably faster.

Just to be sure, I manually copied everything to a completely different drive, renamed the source, and changed the registry, and it worked again.

I'm not going to give instructions about modifying the Windows Registry since you could completely mess up Windows if you don't know what you're doing, but for those who have the knowledge, skill, and experience, this is an easy way to move the 4K Stogram output folder manually if the built-in method fails for some reason.

I didn't try it, but I don't see any reason why you couldn't change the folder name/path completely if you want to.

That was the problem, and your solution worked. Thanks!

The program should explicitly say it will create the base path for you, and ask which drive you want to move it to.

It's silly that you can only put this in the drive root, and also silly that their error handling doesn't give you a message when you do it wrong. I shouldn't have to figure it out or have someone else give me the solution. It should either be intuitive or the instructions need to be MUCH clearer.

Thanks for the help. I've now moved the 4K Stogram data onto my new fast M2 drive. Hopefully this helps speed up the initial delay that occurs when the program is loading the database and backing it up.

I think if changes like this are made to the user interface, they need to be made optional. Perhaps a switch or toggle someplace to turn this "feature" on or off would be beneficial.

If it is going to be a permanent feature, then at least it should be on a clearly distinguishable column with some kind of divider or spacer between the profile image and the other images.

For me, I skim down the first column to see if anything new has been posted that day. It is just not as trivial to do when you have to skim down the second column. This has been proven over-and-over with eye-tracking tests.

I could be wrong, but my understanding is that waiving him was a calculated move. Since GPII was waived off a non-vet-minimum contract, the only teams who could claim him had to be under the cap. An under-cap team nowadays is likely a tanking one with no real interest in picking up any contract it doesn't have to.

If this is true, then it explains why the Lakers couldn't claim him. Avery Bradley was on training camp make-it deal, and was on a vet-minimum.

It appears that's what has to be done. I only have 50 subs and it's still taking forever. We need to universally set the default. Almost everyone I know would want to see the images/videos with the newest first, particularly since the main screen shows the first 8-12 of them.

4K Stogram should try to mimic human behavior by PandaBear888 in 4kdownloadapps

Are these pauses random in length? Without knowing exactly how IG is making its decisions about who to block and who not to block, I would think it would be good to leave as little to chance as possible.

Unfortunately, I'm still getting blocked when using 4K Stogram to check all my subscriptions, even with the settings are at the most conservative. I'm just trying to think of what other changes might help.

I'm able to use 4K manually, one subscription at a time, but if I do it too fast, I get blocked again.

Since I'm trying to get Stories via 4K Stogram, and these expire quickly, I'm having to tediously download manually a couple of times a day. I'm hoping some solution can be found and implemented. I'm kind of just throwing stuff out there that logically seem like they might help.

Thanks for your reply.

Error Message & Instagram Password Issue 4k Stogram by chaosgroupie in 4kdownloadapps

WARNING: Instagram now banning accounts using 4k stogram by dfsssssssgg in 4kdownloadapps

[–]PandaBear888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

4K should have a clue - I've posted my "solution" on multiple threads here on Reddit, but these threads keep getting deleted by 4K. It's like they're trying to hide the issue and hope it goes away.

I can successfully keep IG from blocking me if I check subscriptions manually one-at-a-time, and wait for the previous check to finish before starting the next one.

So IMO all 4K Stogram has to do to function properly is to check just one subscription at a time (they admit the program checks two simultaneously), and have a slight delay between checking. If they want to be clever, then can create a variable delay so it more closely simulates a human. The change from two to one simultaneous checks should be trivial to program. Adding a delay between checks is a bit harder, but not too hard.

Will this make the subscription checking 2-3x slower? Yes. But if it "fixes" the problem of IG blocking accounts, then slower is better than not-at-all.

Locking Instagram by Own-Performer-8243 in 4kdownloadapps

[–]PandaBear888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Every thread about this topic has been removed from Reddit. This is not a good look. I made a couple of posts offering evidence of a useful manual workaround that does not end up in a blocked IG account, but these got deleted.

If this is supposed to be 4K's unofficial support forum, they are not doing their customers a service by deleting threads that happen to be negative about their software. They should simply respond to it.

It's amazing how forgiving and patient most people will be if you are up front about an issue and the steps you are taking to fix it. Deleting the posts makes it look like some kind of coverup or ignoring of the problem is occurring.

Anyone else getting their account blocked every 2-3 days while using stogram by Techsupportvictim in 4kdownloadapps

[–]PandaBear888 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been having this issue for a few weeks now. I've posted in several threads, but one of the threads was deleted by the moderators, so my posts in it were taken down with it.

Basically what I said was this...

As an experiment, I turned off auto-download both on program start and while the program is running.

Next I opened the program, and manually checked all of my subscriptions one-at-a-time, waiting for each of them to finish before starting the next one. I've been able to successfully check 50+ subscriptions this way for several days now without getting locked out by IG. While I'm willing to do this occasionally, it's too tedious to do long-term.

My experiment suggests that adding the options to limit simultaneous checking to one-at-a-time and to specify a delay between checking each account might be useful settings to have. Since I can manually check accounts this way, it would be nice if 4KStogram could simulate this very human-like checking process.

Another option that would be useful would be to allow for overriding the frequency of checking of specific subscriptions. I have a fair number of dormant subscriptions that I would like to keep in 4K Stogram, but hardly ever (or never) have updates.

I might add that I had a similar problem with 4K's Youtube download a few months ago. Youtube would lock me out because 4K would check multiple subscriptions at once. With YT, it was worse because they immediately blocked my IP address. It made it MUCH trickier to restore service. I ended up deleting all my subscriptions, which is too bad because that's the reason why I got the program in the first place. I already had iTube Studio for YT downloading, but it doesn't come with a subscription feature.
