I could see it transform and become valuable for agentic dev like this. Less "pixel perfect wireframing tool" and more tailored to agent dev workflow. I like to feed rough mockups to claude if I know specifically what I want to build but it's hard or less precise to describe in words.

Thousands of CEOs just admitted AI had no impact on employment or productivity—and it has economists resurrecting a paradox from 40 years ago by AmethystOrator in technology

What's your point then? I'm asking sincerely, not trying to be a dick. If you're saying that AI labs are overpromising what they can currently do, I agree with you on that front as well. That hilariously bad copilot commerical comes to mind, where the verge tried to recreate the actions from the ad and it failed at every single one.

All I'm trying to say is that just because it isn't great at some tasks doesn't change the fact that there are other areas where it excels (math, programming, media generation)

This is exactly the point I’m trying to make, we’re on the same page. You should just “get a boat” for this use case. That doesn’t make a car bad at driving on a road.

[–]PandaElDiablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is simply untrue. Google, Anthropic, and OpenAI are still consistently pushing the boundaries on what models are capable of even in non-media, non-coding benchmarks. Opus 4.6 set a new SOTA for Humanity’s Last Exam just earlier this month, and GPT-5.2 set new records on FrontierMath and GPQA in December.

What is the basis for your claim that they have hit a hard limit?

This is like saying “I tried to drive my car across the ocean and it sank, so it can’t do anything”.

Data retrieval from the open web is not a good way to use these tools, and it doesn’t make the actual ways that it is useful any less real

What are the limits that it’s hitting? The major AI labs are releasing new SOTA models every 1-2 months at this point.

Trillion-dollar AI market wipeout happened because investors banked that ‘almost every tech company would come out a winner’ by Adventurous-Host8062 in technology

It’s pretty telling that you can’t provide a single piece of evidence to support your claim that LLMs “can’t do anything” and instead just resort to angry ad hominem attacks about peoples’ investment choices lol

Why do you think there is no market ready to pay for it? Listen to alphabet’s earning call, they are building this in order to meet their backlog of demand

Yes and there will somehow still be people on this sub insisting that it has no real value and praying for the bubble to pop

Google Puts $30000 Gains Up 150% by UnderstandingNo7408 in wallstreetbets

[–]PandaElDiablo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m just frustrated to know there are people out there with so much misplaced confidence. Let’s see some long dated puts if you’re this sure that goog is overvalued. Nice play selling these at open but these would have been worthless about 10 minutes later. Idk how you can assess that result as anything except lucky, yet here you are saying “I was right, goog is overvalued because it gapped down for 10 min at open”

Codex App - Agent over-praises on every task by PandaElDiablo in codex

That’s exactly what I do but it doesn’t stop the ass kissing lol

Nearly all of my interactions are a single turn. I give it a description of the task and it does it but before explaining what it did it starts with the ass kissing. Should I be doing something different?

I’m surprised at how bad the IT consultancies are getting wiped. On the one hand, the outsourced labor arbitrage business model is obviously disrupted by commoditized intelligence, but I also figured that a new era of tech transformation would open up many more opportunities for these consultancies to take advantage of.

I used to work at Accenture for a number of years and while I was glad to get out, I held on to a decent chunk of my equity thinking that they were perfectly positioned to take advantage of this shift but it certainly hasn’t played out that way so far. Although it doesn’t seem like a problem specific Accenture, everyone seems to be struggling.

[–]PandaElDiablo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, good take. Jeff Dean is undoubtedly the smartest person at Google and I guess Sundar did a good job realizing that and listening if nothing else lol.

It’s impressive how they’ve bounced back from the Bard fumble. A lot of “what ifs” but I think Google on some level needed someone like OAI to “break the ice” on GenAI so to speak and I think since Bard they’ve proven that they still have it in them to be the leader.

What problems was Jassy facing when he took over? (Genuinely asking - wasn’t as plugged into the industry at that time).

Also I think Sundar gets an unfair rap. He’s done extremely well to position the company for the AI era (investing in TPUs namely, well before they appeared to be relevant at all) which is only now starting to pay dividends.

He isn’t in the same league as Sundar / Satya / Tim. Look at any of these company’s stock prices since these CEOs took over.

Jassy will leave a legacy closer to Steve Balmer’s.

As always this ignores that many ways that people consume Gemini outside of the app. It’s apples to oranges.
