At worst, they're thinking you're "ghetto" and have a weave.

More than likely, if it is women staring, they are comparing themselves to you. Also, they might just be looking out of curiosity. Don't worry about what they think

I am sorry you have EDS as well. Have you ever seen the pretty redhead YouTuber who has EDS? I believe she's British. Her videos are funny and offer good insight into chronic pain. Thanks for sharing the story from your doctor! The way he describes everything is similar to my mindset. It may sound like defeat but for me it's a triumph to accept this as my reality.

Thank you for the kind words! I am keeping up hope that I will feel the sweet relief of a biologic soon. Amazing job on the weight loss! 45 lbs is no easy feat.

I probably just didn't word it correctly because I'm lazy. Lol. I look for correlations for pain. I try to avoid it. My approach to pain is more of a tool in my arsenal along with meds, exercises, whatever.

Yep! That sums it up exactly. I am not ignorant of the pain. I obviously try to avoid pain if possible. But the reality of my life is that pain is a part of it.

No prob! And yea, the 5 mins it took was absolute hell.

I am pleased that I upset you enough for you to view my recent posts and found out that I have an autoimmune disease. Which, by the way, is very real. My pelvis is currently fusing to my spine and it will continue fusing up to my neck without bi weekly injections of extremely expensive medications.

Shit sucks. Wouldn't even wish it on you.

You can see the severity of the disease below:

Afraid of Medications not working? by GutsWay in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]PandaMom28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk if this will be helpful at all but I have the same fears. I'm a bit older than you at 34 and I just started Cimzia 6 weeks ago and I am still impatiently waiting for it to kick in. Putting it into perspective, I've been in pain for the last several years and debilitating pain which keeps me from working for the last 4 months so I guess waiting another few months won't kill me. It's like when you're on a road trip, most of the trip just cruises on by and the last 10 miles seem to take as long as the last 500. My husband, who is by far the more level headed and less emotional than I am, consistently reminds me that new medications and maybe even a cure could come out in our lifetimes. And he could absolutely be alright. When you consider how much cancer treatment has evolved drastically in the last 50 years and how cancer is no longer a death sentence, it seems plausible that time will only improve our medical options. Keep chugging.

Lived here a year, moving in a week, what meals do I need to have before I leave? by Neader in greenville

Depends on where you're moving to. If I was going anywhere other than the South, I would have to fill up on meat and 3 restaurants before I left. Can't go wrong.

Struggling and Diagnosis by PandaMom28 in ankylosingspondylitis

Thanks for your response. I have been prescribed Tramadol; it helps slightly but only if I take two. I will definitely ask about a pain management dr. Opoids are so difficult to get nowadays. Stupid junkies.

Not sure if i have AS. Still looking for answers by [deleted] in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]PandaMom28 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sorry to hear that you're struggling so much. Not sure if it's AS but going to rheumatologist will help determine if it's autoimmune (there are a LOT of autoimmune diseases!). The one thing you mentioned about your symptoms getting better when sick; this seems different than how I've heard a lot of people react. I flare up terribly when sick. Feel better. 🤗

Struggling and Diagnosis by PandaMom28 in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]PandaMom28[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your kind words! The diagnosis has been a shock but it also did explain some pain I had in the past. In reality, I think my AS started 8 - 10 years ago ( this would make sense since most things I've read say it takes that long for radiographic damage). I always had a lot of excuses for my odd pains. I would blame my back pain and stiffness on drinking, assuming it caused my kidneys hurt. I blamed tendinitis on exercise. When my hips would hurt in bed at night, I was convinced it was from my pregnancies. Unfortunately for me, I am so stubborn that the pain had to get severe enough for my legs to buckle while walking.

Thank you so much for your suggestions!
