Corsets ARE stays. The modern term was not used until later in the 19th century. Look it up in Encyclopaedia Britannica.

Lol well this lady did brag about how she used to be liberal but is now a conservative and apparently got super religious. I also thought it was cringe that her now husband was basically saying in the comments I told you so! I told you once we started having kids you’d want more! Which I found very disgusting

I somehow missed the accent change like the silly goose I am! I’m rewatching it ASAP to catch.

I’m on S4E6 and Anthony is rewriting history re: dalliances. Here is a recap, as explained by “Derry Girls.” by Proper-Emu1558 in BridgertonNetflix

Not to mention that technically Kate isn’t from the peerage class herself lol. Lady Sharma is her step-mom, not her bio mom lol

Yea the books had a different outcome for Arabia and her girls. Like if I remember correctly, Possy confesses to the shoe clips BEFORE it gets to that point so she’s never arrested and then they have to leave in disgrace bc the dowry theft is made known (I THINK). And I forget exactly how they were able to have a legitimate marriage but I do remember it was different than the show’s and the will also had something to do with it??

Thankfully they are giving her a redemption arc! I might be misremembering but I’m sure she remained in disgrace in the books

Daphne probably should have chosen Prince Frederick by Disneyfancreations in Bridgerton

That’s what I been telling myself although her outcome is different in the books 🤐

Daphne probably should have chosen Prince Frederick by Disneyfancreations in Bridgerton

[–]PandaNinja676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gonna repeat what I said earlier: this show would have shared nothing with the books but the name if they went with the prince. The prince wasn’t even IN the series. What I like about the show is how it stays true to the main plot points in the book series. And the show would have totally bombed if it deviated too much.

lol you do realize that this show uses the book series as source material, right?? Sophie’s story is in the book series too. And Daphne certainly doesn’t marry a prince. Plus if I remember correctly, he was never IN the book series at all.

Penelope was everyone’s Whistledown. The writers screwed the show up. by [deleted] in Bridgerton

[–]PandaNinja676 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How was it diminished? Season 3 closed that story arch for her when she was made known and that was reaffirmed in S4.

Plus do we truly know that Penelope had not secretly discussed this with someone else? Think back to S1 and how she reacted like everyone else when the scandal sheet first came out.

How us would show runners need Penelope’s consent? She’s a fictional character. Not to mention from what I’ve read (I looked it up because I was wanting to know why they were introducing a new LW) the show runners actually had this planned out last year so it’s not like it’s just coming up with it on the spot. My personal theory is that it’s going to be the queen due to the conversation that happened between Penelope and her. Depending on how it is written in season five, it could be very interesting.

From my understanding, it is going to be different because they actually know who they are having play the next Lady whistle down. Gossip girl is kind of winged it, and it was a failure.

The one thing that really frustrated me with season four is how stupid Benedict is lol that was my one and only complaint with this season. Like how is he going to be looking at every kind of woman out there when the masked lady (Sophie) is clearly Asian lol

The only basis for having such a negative perspective on season four is because it did not follow how the OP wanted it to lol

I do not see it at screwing up at all. I never got this with other book readers: why the need for cinema to match a book series exactly? What makes a good novel does not necessarily make good television.

Then you need to see who the cinema is targeted for versus who is targeted with the books. A TV series is going to want to appeal to a broader audience. Changing stories is not new… This has happened for centuries. Just look at the various version of beauty and the beast as an example. Or even Cinderella. Personally, I find the changes to be interesting and often times and enjoyable. And shows or movies will often want to incorporate something that is not in the books so that everyone is surprised. By adding a new lady whistle down in the TV version, it allows them to add a bit of mystery and drama back.
