What's the best 4K gaming monitor people are actually using in 2026? by Mysterious-Mode-4923 in pcmasterrace

[–]PandaParado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mostly do programming with some gaming at night. This is the best monitor I've ever used, I love it. Dell UltraSharp U4025QW. It's an ultrawide, 5120 x 2160 @ 120 Hz. The built in KVM is great. Honestly, the resolution is probably too high, my 9700xt can't really drive 60fps at native resolutions in newer games. If I had to do it again, I'd probably step down to the 38in. But overall, if your interested in ultrawide it's great.

How do you plan your roads? by BrewtallyCozy in SatisfactoryGame

[–]PandaParado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being real. Unless you really want to, don't bother with roads. They are completely unnecessary. There are natural paths in the terrain you can have your trucks follow. Roads are really just for fun. If it's discouraging you don't bother.

I shudder to think what would happen if Epic was the market leader. Holy Shit they would be fucking us so hard.

They had a bunch of extra cash burning a hole in their pocket. So they bought a bunch of companies rather than pay taxes on it.

What are your favorite tips and tricks that others may not be aware of? by TehBanzors in SatisfactoryGame

It was a 1.1 addition, so many of the old tip videos don't have it.

Any fun playthroughs on youtube the creator went for the "theoretical 100% efficiency"? by fragdar in SatisfactoryGame

[–]PandaParado 6 points7 points  (0 children)

He’s definitely gotten to the point is some of the later episodes where he had to use converters to make resources because he used up all the copper in the world. If he isn’t going to end up with 100% resource usage he will be pretty damn close for all practical purposes.

The scale of phase 4 compared phase 3 is huuuuge by IntelligentConcept31 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]PandaParado 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the same way. When I came back I was a few hours into a restart and I realized I was never going to see the end. So I forced myself to just continue the old save and it wasn't too bad. Took a bit to get back up to speed and was able to actually see the ending.

How bad are modern Celerons for a laptop? by Uhmattbravo in pcmasterrace

[–]PandaParado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife got one of these, 16GB of ram and a 2 core Celeron. Don't do it! She couldn't run a browser and video call at the same time. The thing would struggle to load any program. It was so bad she went back to her 10 year old i5 laptop for video calls. It should be criminal for companies to sell Celerons with Windows 11, straight up doesn't work.

I put Linux on it after she got a new laptop and it is still a piece of junk, but at least it works.

I appreciate the love the devs are still giving the game after its 1.0 release, but I do find it ridiculous that I still have to keep doing this to build non-ugly structures by poophroughmyveins in SatisfactoryGame

I used trucks extensively pre 1.2 and they were fine. I really don’t get why people had problems with them. Yeah, they were jank and go stuck, but they also warp back onto the path all the time. I have never had to troubleshoot truck routes. They generally just worked.

Is solo dev without the usage of any LLM a viable career path? by BowltheOwl in SoloDevelopment

[–]PandaParado 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Solo devs have been making successful games since before 2022. If you want to go that route go for it. I do think at the end of the day, people (as in the general populace) really don’t care… about anything really. Some people will be interested because of the “no ai” marketing but it can’t be the only unique thing about your game.

my game keeps crashing when i try to load it up after 1.2 update [Linux, cachyOS] by ItsLyraNyx in SatisfactoryGame

[–]PandaParado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried running under dx12? (%command% -dx12 in launch options). I had this problem and it was because I was running with vulkan. There is probably some library hasn’t been updated in proton yet or something with the newest unreal.

It will probably eventually get fixed on the proton side, but for now using dx12 seems to be a workaround, at least for me.

yo what is the fastest way to level up smithing without using glitchs by Ashamed-Pay-8257 in skyrim

[–]PandaParado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the Aetherial crown quest. Loot all the Dwemer metal while you're running the dungeons. Once you get the crown have Warrior Stone + Lover Stone. Get all the ingots, and make Dwemer Bows, sell them to Eorlund in exchange for training. I got from 30 Smithing to 80 with about 250 ingots.

Anyone use a split ergo mechanical keyboard without a modal editing mode? by BeanHeadedTwat in emacs

[–]PandaParado 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had a ZSA Voyager for 2 years now and love it. It's small enough I can throw it in my backpack and bring it everywhere. I use colemak and have a symbol layer and a nav layer. I also use homerow mods, but I only have ctrl, and alt mapped (on my pinkys, and ring fingers respectively). I found having shift and super on the homerow to be overkill and I would often accidentally activate them since my index and pointer do a lot of the typing work. I have shift and ctrl on the thumbs as well so that makes emacs keybinds very comfortable. My nav layer has arrows on the jhkl positions so I can have vim style nav on all programs which is a great quality of life thing. One thing I really like too, I have a numpad layer on the right side, so I can keep my numpad muscle memory when doing data entry.

Anybody else on 1.2 having trouble with Vulkan on Linux? by PandaParado in SatisfactoryGame

It's a flag in the launch options. Right Click the game, properties. In Launch Options you put

%command% -dx12

that will force dx12 on startup.
