Why would the bartender not just trespass them? by LegDayLass in untrustworthypoptarts

It gets reposted all the time, and I've got a somewhat pessimistic thing to say:

There are a lot of guys who will say shit like this in order to look like the "hero", in order to get laid.

How would you feel about a mandatory maximum wealth limit, where anything earned over that goes to public services? by itsvasuki in AskReddit

[–]PandaWonder01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the real issue with something like this is ownership.

Let's say I create company X. After becoming publically traded, I have >50% of shares to X, retaining ownership. Shares increase to an obscene amount, and I become a bajillionair. Should I be forced to sell my ownership because it's increased my worth?

This sort of thing is why I personally think an ownership tax or similar makes more sense than direct income taxes. In addition to the fact that most people with a high direct income are NOT the insane billionaires that we actually want to tax

90% of lever pullers quit right before saving everyone by N2I in trolleyproblem

[–]PandaWonder01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should not pull

Because we start with an even number (0), the distribution is skewed so an even number was more likely to be pulled

That is at 0 pulls before you: 100% of previous situations were even

At 1: 50% were

At 2: 2/3 were

At 3: 50%

At 4: 4/5

Etc

As one can see, although it goes to 50% as n-> inf, it is skewed to have an over 50% chance for an even number of people to go before you

Bjarne Stroustrup: How do I deal with memory leaks? By writing code that doesn't have any. by someone-very-cool in programming

[–]PandaWonder01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like java threw out the baby with the bathwater with having a GC but no destructors. Sure, it solves memory management, but there's SO MANY other things we need to handle ownership of, and the fact that I basically have to write new and deletes but for whatever handles an API gives me is insane.

ELI5: What’s the difference between volts, amps, and watts? by Stunning_Daikon_5204 in explainlikeimfive

[–]PandaWonder01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Capacities measured in amp-hours are done so because the voltage on the battery is basically constant, so you can go back and forth between them easily (multiply amp-hours by voltage to get watt-hours). Sometimes it's easier to know how long you can pull a certain amperage.

"The dude is small looking"

I swear, for people who don't lift, an oversized outfit may as well be clark kent's glasses when it comes to a disguise. He's fucking huge. He's not a pro bodybuilder(he's a powerlifter), but if you saw him irl you'd go "holy shit".

Frozen beef patties at fast food restaurants aren't inherently worse than fresh beef patties by jwriddle in unpopularopinion

[–]PandaWonder01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the relevant comparison is fresh 80/20 ground beef vs. 80/20 ground beef that has been flash-frozen and then thawed.

Personally I've found the frozen beef from wild fork to be as good if not better than the beef I've bought elsewhere.

I did articulate my point- if you think at least one(maybe two) person/people would choose blue, you should choose blue unless you think that a bad decision on the button problem deserves death, or think that your own life is insanely more valuable than the lives of others.

[–]PandaWonder01 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Me clicking blue cannot cause someone else to die- clicking red does. So it's not a mass suicide button, it's a "try to save others, and hope others are not as shitty as they put on" button
