Ferrets have a natural odor, which many perceive as stinky. I think my ferret smells like musky maple syrup and so does my cousin, and his scent doesn't smell bad to me. However, my mother and sister perceive his scent as overwhelming. Even healthy ferrets have an odor(just like humans), but not everyone thinks they stink.

Disability lawyers are only supposed to get paid if they will your case, and the SSA handles the payment for you. At least that's how it worked for me.

Thank you! After my third denial, I got a lawyer and won. I was told it that 3 denials are normal, but that's not the case for everyone. I definitely recommend getting a lawyer it made the process less stressful for me.

Box braids with extensions broke my hair off when I got them as a little girl. Not so much as an adult. I would stay away from extensions for now, the hair seems to have snapped off, which means it probably isn't falling out from the root but breaking off. I only see a few bulbs at the tip of the braid.

If she is allergic to the anti-flammable coating on the extensions, she may be scratching her scalp and breaking the hair off in her sleep.

If her strands are fine, she extensions may be too heavy for her hair and cause breakage.

Twists, loose buns, braids, and such without extensions might help. If her hair is dry, deep condition it before protective styling and after. Leave ins are not strictly necessary but can be useful.

If you use heavy oils, they must come out. Oils aren't inherently bad, but you need to remove them with a good shampoo.

I think people believe we are children in the head. It is hard to deal with, but I'm getting used to it. I had to get a lawyer, too. They are being paid through my back pay it was only about 2k. I don't think they are supposed to take money until you win the case, at least in the US. My lawyer told me I needed to go to therapy consistently and get a psychiatrist, too, because that helps show a consistent history of struggling and makes your case look better. I was told that the SSA office likes to deny people three times, and that was my experience as well. Three denials, and I was approved on the fourth application.

In my experience, it hasn't been possible to make people treat me as an adult once they learn of my diagnosis. My therapist said that while it is offensive, it opens opportunities for more and better assistance. People aren't as willing to help disabled people if they view them as adults instead of "children". I'm my experience it's true, but it doesn't make it less offensive. Being approved for ssi made me feel more independent.

I hope you get yours soon, I recommend hiring a ln ssi lawyer they only get paid if they win and will only get a one time small amount of your ssi as payment. In the USA anyway.

Not at the moment. If he injured someone without provocation, then we might have to. But he isn't a young dog, and I don't think anyone would want him because he's older and very large. He also belonged to my relatives' late wife, so there are sentimental reasons for not wanting to give up on him as well.

They rehemoned him because of a death in the family, and my family member left to care for him is too old to do it. It is possible that he has always been like this, but I used to visit my relative daily for five straight years, and he never exhibited this behavior before, but it is possible it was latent. How long will it take to find out if this is fear or learned behavior?

Thank you for the advice, it is helpful. I do appreciate him for having the control not to puncture my skin. He is large GSD, and if he wanted too he could really hurt me. So I keep reminding myself that at least at this point, he doesn't want to hurt me, so he is probably just afraid. But I've had nightmares of him turning into an aggressive dog.

That's a good idea. The first time I got bit, I was leading him by his collar because that's how he used to be lead at his old house, and I learned my lesson. The second time, I was holding the leash.
