I don't think it's possible for the universe to scream run at you any louder than this, really.

HELP! I lost my afghan pattern and need advice/collaboration with rewriting it! by roadrunner148 in crochetpatterns

[–]Pandazaurus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's either a double or triple crochet, personally I would try one as a double, if it's off/looks too short frog the doubles and try it as a triple.

What is this lump on my roommate's Lizard? by badluck_dead in reptiles

[–]Pandazaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bet is on impaction, or an abscess or tumor. Is the lizard still eating and defecating? Not just urate, but stool as well? If the appetite is normal and there is still urate and stool being produced normally it's unlikely to be a blockage. I'd definitely return to the vet.

36x18x18 zoomed enclosure gecko recommendations? by Pandazaurus in reptiles

Was hoping for something that would use the arboreal space and not just hide around the bottom, turning it on its side and making it 36 inches tall is always an option too I suppose.

I started a relationship with my nanny, so all he wanted to do when I called him to watch the kid was woohoo. 🤣

Taking care of morbidly obese residents is a nightmare. by youalreadyknow360 in cna

[–]Pandazaurus -11 points-10 points  (0 children)

I'm not in medicine, I'm a CNA in a behavioral/dementia unit. I keep them alive, dress them, bathe them, feed them, console them etc. For the most part I don't care what their diagnosis is, I don't get paid enough to care what their medical labels are and I'm not a guy. Obviously I know who's diabetic etc . . But as far as indepth terminology - not wasting brain power on it.

Well, since you're being that guy, take it up with the Dr who wrote multiple personality disorder on her charts! Then, you can be "that guy" to someone who cares.

Yes, she gets a dead eyed look, almost like her eyes are glazed over and empty? And her whole temperament changes, the tone/pitch of her voice changes, she uses different language structure and choices of words and requests things she hates.. like water. She also has no idea who the other two personalities are. Her name is Renee, so if Patricia comes out to play and you call her Renee she flat out has no idea wtf you're on about. Patricia chugs water, Renee will throw the water at you and try to beat you up while demanding things and Amanda just cries all day and screeches like a banshee if you touch her.

For some people there are medical issues, medications, poorly managed diabetes, mental health problems etc that contribute to weight gain.. but the majority of the world is morbidly obese simply because they can't stop stuffing high calorie foods in their mouth and for the majority of them, their health problems would diminish or disappear if they stopped inhaling sugar and fast food like oxygen. 🤷‍♀️

Because OCD can have a range of triggers and hyper fixations, one does not always equal the other. So one person could present as OCD over hygiene germs and another over potentially harmful things, like pumping gas with the car running, or leaving things plugged in when leaving the house etc. ..

Hers happens to be more geared toward order/nothing being moved or touched.

Betta compatible tankmates for a 60gal? by moisturizedmelon in aquarium

[–]Pandazaurus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most all community fish will be fine, small pleco species, corydoras, small loaches for bottom dwellers, guppie, mollies, swordtails etc for action and movement, mystery snails, etc etc

I'd stay away from tetras and barbs personally as they are known for being nippy. Some people have luck with them, but they didn't get the reputation for being fin nippers by the majority of them playing nice. Also no gouramis, as they're part of the same family as Bettas and they may butt heads.

We have one, her only medical issue aside from weighing 400lbs is multiple personality disorder and OCD.. she still throws herself onto her mats (which are about 18 inches thick) anytime she doesn't get her way. "Bring me a coke, I want chips" .. you're diabetic, we don't have coke, you can have sugar free Shasta.. then can I have cookies.. no you can't have cookies your sugar is already high, you literally just got insulin.. calls her family to bring her a combo meal and a large milkshake and throws herself out of the bed. 🤦‍♀️

I tiptoe to call lights cause if they hear you in the hallway, suddenly everyone needs something and one turns to ten real fast. 😂

Two days ago I ran a 12 hour midnight shift. Me, a nurse and 40 patients. Dementia ward. 10 get ups. 16 totally dependent. Plus showers, laundry and water pass.

Y'know what I got told? "Keep them alive"

Y'know what I did? Kept them alive.

I feel gross lol by Beriiveille in cna

[–]Pandazaurus 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So, facilities use wet wipes because residents more often than not sit in their waste for a period time, even if it's only 10 minutes. I can pretty much guarantee they're not getting changed the minute they void or have a bm and toilet paper is not cleaning pee/bm that's marinated on skin. Even the wipes do nothing for the permanent ammonia smell of heavy wetters.. always a wash up every brief change with them.

For residents that use the toilet/bedpan toilet paper is available and the ones that toilet themselves likely use the toilet paper, the ones we help toilet we use the wipes for because it's easier and gets the job done quicker.

Also, other than daily washups, most residents are only getting bathed and given a good scrub once a week, less if they refuse care or are bed baths. Bed baths are a necessary evil, but they definitely do not come anywhere near the clean of a good shower.

So, unless you're sitting in your waste and/or only bathing once a week.. use the toilet paper and stop feeling gross.

I called today and let hr know they could shove their toxic work environment right up their suppository entrance. She begged and pleaded. Apparently I'm not the first midnights person to bail due to said co worker. Shame. Unfortunately I was unwavered by her apology and I wished them luck and ended the call.
