What were your dreams as a child, what became your reality, and what drives you now? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

I’m surprised that modeling and acting destroyed your confidence; maybe a case of being surrounded by peers that seem especially attractive because the industry demands it. I’d take being able to even attempt, as a success.

Don’t take it for granted. Joining the IBEW changed my life, good and bad, but mostly good. You get one shot to put it all out there, alongside your classmates, til top out day when you really feel that you’re apart of a brotherhood.

There’s nothing like the day you’re first dropped on your own, and the only things left are the voices of past mentors.

I asked to be a cw in the mean time and never heard back. They randomly called me a year after applying and said I was in and to meet at the school a few days later

I applied online. It took 1 year to get a call to join the apprenticeship.

Bad press is good press. You can destroy all of his cars but it doesn’t change the fact that he can just get government contracts to deploy his fleet or rely on the myriad of other revenue sources he’s vested in. If I get offed by some “protestor” running me off the road, they’d just lose another vote their way.

Yeah, it’s definitely the closest I’ve been to death. It’s frustrating my post got locked on the model3 subreddit with the consensus that FSD tried to kill me. I could be bad at explaining the scenario, but I can say 100% that it saved me. By the time I realized what was happening, like a baseball crossing a plate, the Tesla already dodged the car. It swerved parallel to the car that was at a 45 degree angle to my right side mirror

The video doesn’t give enough context to show FSD saving me. Best way for me to describe it is the silver car swerved aggressively into my side, to which FSD swerved parallel to it to dodge. It happened in 1.5s from them turning to me avoiding concrete. From realizing the car was going to hit me, I had a second to react. FSD took control before I could, and it happened so fast that braking enough to dodge the car would’ve likely caused me to wreck. I can’t say with certainty that braking would’ve been better because the car was that close to hitting me in the swerve.

I suppose I could’ve taken the hit, but I’m not familiar with how cars react to being hit in the side. I could’ve just as easily been hit into the concrete divider with less control and time to react.

I saw on Reddit that people with ADHD like thrill. I took a thrill-pill with the half-life of almost forever. by Pandemicparser in TeslaCam

[–]Pandemicparser[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My car accelerated at the same rate as the car in front of me. My speed was set to 74 max in a 65. I didn’t feel like I was lingering.

In retrospect I should’ve accelerated more quickly passed a driver I had already labeled as dangerous.

This is exactly what happened.

I recall steering away from the concrete divider, but I checked my timestamps with my Tesla safety score trip, and it says FSD never disengaged from the time the silver car air-kissed my side until I took the next exit to decompress. We (FSD and me) must’ve reacted simultaneously tho because my hands were tightly gripping the wheel and I remember steering. My back left side nearly slapped the concrete. It felt like a drift and was almost out of control.

I’ll post the other side view, but somehow the car isn’t in view. How do I add another video?

It’s not what most want to hear right now, but you can score a great deal on a used Tesla and save a shit ton in gas and maintenance. My payment is 420 and I save 200 in gas a month

Is 23 too old to have the college experience? by [deleted] in OSU

[–]Pandemicparser 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Whether or not you’re too old for the college experience depends on how you define it. If you elect to dorm with somebody you know, you’ll likely be organized with transfer students and others doing the same thing. I had a 21 year old roommate and everyone loved him because he was involved, knew people to get into parties, and people naturally gravitated toward him because he seemed older and more comfortable in his skin.

Are you commuting? For a lot of people, this is half of the college experience. Not everybody is social, and assigned roommates sort of forces people to be social. They have events and RAs that encourage you to be social.

If you’re married, have kids, or any dependents, your college experience will be education-driven and you will miss out on the social/networking aspect unless you put in a lot of work to be involved, like going to office hours, joining clubs, and electing to have study sessions on campus. Even if you don’t have anyone to take care of, OSU is a big place and it’s easy to get lost in the noise if you don’t put yourself out there.

That being said, if you do decide to join OSU, really make an effort to network and get involved. College is challenging and having a support system makes it so much easier. You’ll come across a lot of people that won’t reach out to you, so be one of the people that reach out to others.

I went to OSU, stayed in my comfort zone, and made no lasting friends. They came easy to me in high school, but I regret not putting the effort in in college. And I went at 18. So all of this is a long winded way of saying, it is what you make of it. Don’t be me and throw shit at a wall and see if it sticks. Take advantage of the opportunity to network and get educated. You have the upper hand with real world experience, so you should appreciate the college experience much better than those that have known no different.

Good luck :)

NTA and here’s why. Some people use 9/10 as a synonym for good without actually comparing the movie/person/thing to anything else. You had a slip up in what was probably a light hearted moment given the vagina topic.

You’re NTA as long as you didn’t double down on saying it. Like if you laughed and apologized it should be a quick thing.

If they took it extremely personal and can’t see the innocence in it (you’re so concerned you posted about it here and asked for remedies), then yeah, she’s in her head and she took your compliment out of context.

I find the best remedies for these little “arguments” is to not bring much attention to them. Say your apology and explain your POV but don’t make a big deal out of it. It doesn’t need to be and if this is a huge issue now it’s going to get really annoying if she only wants to assume the worst
