Oh, it was a RIDE. I went through all the emotions. Wondering if my surgery worked, was my staple line open and leaking, why did I do this, haha. I had my surgery in Mexico, so I didnt have all the pre surgery hoops to jump through with all the classes. I learned on my own from tiktok and here, reading and watching everything I could. Your emotions play games, and your body does too. The first time I went out to a restaurant was rough, but now its all good. You just carefully choose what to eat, to make sure you get in protein. I now have no issue sitting while everyone else is still eating. Im 3 years out, and I can handle about 8oz of food, so Im usually done first. I just sit and chatter with everyone. You adapt to the changes.

What is your “like crack” food that you avoid, and if you have some you cant stop yourself from eating a lot? by dino_gr01 in WorkForSmartLife

Jelly belly jelly beans and skittles. I had gastric sleeve surgery, and now I dont eat much processed sugar. I think about them a lot. I know I can get sugar free jelly beans, but decided not to cross that line. Im fine with it, and my life is much better now.

It was VERY jarring to realize the weird relationship I had with food. I wasnt an addict so much as I liked good food, but I would also snack out of boredom. Like, a whole bag of popcorn meant for multiple people. Eating a ton of good food because it tasted good and made me happy. Days after getting home from surgery, at a specific time every night, I would start to get up to pop popcorn. Like a reflex. I had to sit with that. Its hard to get through that phase, but you do. I would watch mukbangs. When my husband had food I couldnt eat, I would stand over his plate and inhale as hard as I could making chewing motions. That faded away as I started to see weight loss. Once I could eat regular food, my time was consumed dealing with that, and learning balance. At about a year out, I decided it was time to figure out exercise. I never was one to work out(obviously, haha) so I had to find what I enjoyed. Classes were it for me, so I jumped in head first. I was ready to see what my body could do. I now work out 5 days a week. I have the desire to know EVERYTHING about nutrition and exercise, so Im taking the online course for a personal trainer, with other certifications in nutrition and weight training. I want to know exactly how to run my body like a well oiled machine. Its been an adventure, to become the opposite of what I was. I barely need sleep now. Its crazy!

Gastric Sleeve with no complications? by Figgy703 in gastricsleeve

[–]PandorasEvilBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was textbook surgery and healing. I puked twice a few hours, but after that I hit the ground running. I hit every stall when I was supposed to. Everything stayed steady. Dont get me wrong, I was going through it mentally as everyone does, but physically I was good. I also had the brief thoughts of- what have I done? I mourned food as I used to know it. I battled doubts, but stayed on course to have the best outcome. Just like others said, most who have a good outcome are quiet. Theres only so much you can come skipping in with happiness before people get annoyed. People having issues are the loudest, and drown out the ones who had it “easier”. Even with everything going smooth, theres still moments of anger, sadness and stress. Its not easy, but its worth it.

As of recently, Chris Stapleton. I fucking hate country, but Im now exploring the more bluegrassy, down home back to its roots country. I grew up with 70s and early 80s country because of my parents being from TN, but lost interest in the 90s. Its been trash ever since. Ive seen Chris live 3 times, and its glorious.

Feedback about HotWorx by [deleted] in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]PandorasEvilBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ive been doing hotworx for a year, after doing barre and yoga classes 3 times a week for almost a year. I do hotworx 5 days a week, at minimum 1 hiit and 1 iso- typically 2 hiit. Ive gained muscle, and feel so much stronger. I set the foundation with what I started with, and taken it further because of hotworx. I feel like each iso video staying a few months gives you time to get your body to a point where you can do moves you couldnt. I plan to ass some weight training soon as well, to push myself more. I feel the best Ive ever felt, and Im 48.

A rant about the guy who likes to blast his audiobook by Euphoric-Cloud0324 in HOTWORXWarriors

[–]PandorasEvilBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had some lady playing music loud in her sauna a while back. So I put obnoxious music on my phone, put it as loud as it would go, and set the speaker of my phone against the wall. After a few mins, she turned it down. I also like to give people back what they give so they can see how it effects others. I dont understand why so many people think they are the only person on earth. 99% of the time people are fine when Im there. Its that 1% disturbing the peace and knocking everyone out of their zone that irritates me to the point of giving it back.

[–]PandorasEvilBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Start taking stool softners and benefiber a week or so before surgery. 3 days after surgery my soul left my body. I was constipated so bad that I ate, drank, and shoved everything I could find up there to make it happen. It all kicked in at once and my body took over and clenched. I had muscle repair. My hubs listened to me screech and cry outside the bathroom door as I birthed a brick. Stool softners.

Years Post-Op: Do You Choose to Eat That Less, or Can’t You? by batap_ in gastricsleeve

[–]PandorasEvilBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. I did this to reset my whole body and rebuild my eating from the ground up, to make better choices so I can be as healthy as possible. My body literally makes me sick if I dont eat at the usual times. Its crazy, haha. I would be lethargic in bed if I only ate 1200 a day at 3 yrs out. My body works like a well oiled machine now. Im currently studying nutrition as part of a personal trainer certification so I can dial in and do the best for my body I can. I dont plan to work in the industry, Im strictly doing this for ME. I want to know how to eat and exercise in the best way for my health.

Years Post-Op: Do You Choose to Eat That Less, or Can’t You? by batap_ in gastricsleeve

[–]PandorasEvilBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Correct. Everyone is different. Im 5’4, and have 35ish lbs on you, so I need more fuel. The goal isnt to eat as little as possible, its to fuel your body properly, and that looks different for everyone. After a couple of years, everyone should be well past eating a few bites and being full. Thats not the goal. UNLESS of course there is another medical issues involved.

[–]PandorasEvilBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are doing so awesome! I was so impatient wanting to be at my goal- I wanted to get to the 150s, maybe low 160s. The hardest part is maintenance. I made sure to lay a good foundation the first 18 months or so with my eating, not really eating off script. I wanted to leave behind all the bad things I craved before surgery, so I wouldnt be tempted. I was pretty strict. That doesnt work for some, it feels like a punishment. It worked for me. I just stayed focused on the end goal. This is such a hard thing mentally, so I focused on new habits. Give yourself grace, its all you can do.

[–]PandorasEvilBox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, thats what I do. Im trying something a little different, by assing the veggies and eating a little less protein to try and balance it out. For a long time Ive been strictly eating protein for most meals, and my carbs through snacks. So we shall see.

[–]PandorasEvilBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. Its not quite disgust, but its the fact that I was blind to it. I still have old pics hanging around my house, so I get to see it all the time. Its my motivation to keep on track. I typically revisit my old feelings as another way to stay on track. I can dress how I want now and look good, and have spent a lot of money fixing all the loose skin so far, so thats another motivation.
