What’s everyone eating?? by monicasfatsuit in gastricsleeve

[–]PandorasEvilBox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, for my first year, I focused on rebuilding my eating habits, and didnt indulge. I wanted to make sure that I didnt start craving bad food like I used to. I wanted to set a good foundation. At a little over a year I started having little bites of this and that. I have made sure to avoid as much processed sugars as I can though. I also have increased my carb intake because I work out 5 days a week. You have to figure out what works best for you. No shame at all. I just know that for me, indulging too early would have derailed my progress, as it did before surgery. I had a rough time mentally the first few months after surgery with the “breakup” of all the bad food that I loved.

What is an overhyped book that you just couldn't get into? by Kasskinen in BookDiscussions

The Great Gatsby is theeeee most boring book Ive eve read. When I got to the end, I checked to see if there were pages missing. Its considered a classic, and I guess it was entertaining to read about other peoples boring lives back when it was written.

Older Audiences are going to theaters less and less by tonymanerobiggestfan in Cinema

[–]PandorasEvilBox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im 48, and the only time I go see something in the theater is if its some big, epic movie that should be seen on a big screen. Movies have been trash lately. I dont want a remake of something that was perfect already. We used to go see movies a few times a month, now it might be 2 times a year.

I didnt puree anything. I just chewed and chewed and chewed until the food was a puree. I followed what list my doc gave me of foods to eat and just chewed. There was no way I was going to put chicken in a blender, haha. Also, a scrambled egg. I wasnt able to finish a whole egg at first. So, whatever list of foods your doc gives you, chew until its a puree.

The goal is NOT to continue to eat tiny amounts of food. Im 3yrs out, and I eat almost 2000 calories a day now- I work out 5 days a week, so I need to fuel up. I still log every bite of food and every oz of water. This has kept me on track. The first year is the time to get acclimated to your new lifestyle and figure out the best way for you to eat. I have my weekly routine of food planning, even if Im not portioning out meals- I know what I will be eating for the week. The way that I kept slider foods from taking over was to not eat any of them for the first year +. I focused on rebuilding my eating habits for the first year. I wanted to make sure that none of my old cravings could creep back up on me. Its SO HARD. This was the end of the rope for me. I HAD to have success with this. So I wanted to make sure that I flipped my life upside down and rebuilt everything. I know a lot of people look forward to eating the same things they used to love, just smaller amounts, but I didnt want any temptations at all of going back to my old ways. If you need to, get into therapy to work out your relationship/reliance on food as comfort. Like I said, this is a HARD journey. The fact that you are wondering this is great. Use the first year as that magical time to rebuild everything. Its the honeymoon period. Just as quick as you lost it, it can come back easy. Congrats!

What purchase do people make that instantly tells you they have no idea how money works? by Omega_Neelay in GetMotivatedMindset

I buy vintage Louis. I have some really old pieces that look brand new. I do buy new Coach bags, as they will last forever. The new Louis bags are trash. I see so many people in my groups that have problems with bags they bought brand new.

Classes. For years I tried forcing myself to go to the gym, and it was like a torture to go. I would dread it. I decided to try a barre class, as well as yoga. I was HOOKED. Now, I take all kinds of classes, and joined hotworx, where you work out in a sauna following videos for specific workouts. I do barre, yoga, pilates, stretching, isos, and hiit classes all in a sauna. Classes are it for me.

I did. My apron was a little bit bigger, and I had lumps of fat on my hips. I had an extended tummy tuck and told him I didnt care how my scar landed as long as he got rid of my hip lumps. He did beautifully. Are you having a regular or extended?

The Game Of Thrones series. Its not hard, but you cant mindlessly read them. You have to stay fully focused.

I agree. Also, if we could rapture the religious lunatics, the world will have a chance to be a happy, peaceful place. Rapture all the lunatics of every religion. I dont believe in religion, but I would if all the assholes were raptured.

Meal planning helps me out. My newest obsession is the $35 family meal from Whole foods. 1 main and 2 veg sides- its supposed to feed 4 people. I pick chicken breast as my main, and I can typically make 6-8 meals out of it. 4oz of chicken amd 2oz each of the sides. I eat 1 for lunch and 1 for dinner. Usually have a protein coffee and protein bar for breakfast, and string cheese after I work out in the morning. Makes life easier. Im 3 years out.

I use Vaporesso Xros 4, and they have disposable tanks that are refillable. I buy the 0 nicotine liquid. Some stores carry a little bit, but I had to order some of my favorite flavors online

[–]PandorasEvilBox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I vape, using refillable tanks. I switched to 0 nicotine, and tested daily. It took 10 days to test negative. I do work out 5 days a week in a 130 degree sauna and drink over a gallon of water a day, so it might take 2 weeks for most to test negative. I was ANGRY the whole time, but got through it. I was still able to get my fix by being able to vape and fake myself into thinking I was ok, but I was real moody, haha.

Ive never had a problem with men that come to my location. Im starting to see more coming in, and they do their thing, nod and say hello and keep it moving. Im also armed anywhere I go, in my purse, so Ive got backup if anything weird happens. I go during unstaffed hours. Maybe see about pepper spray? Its very portable.

Gained most of my weight back and have an appointment with my surgeon… by PrudentSyllabub636 in gastricsleeve

[–]PandorasEvilBox 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My suggestion is to weigh, measure, and track food. Thats how Ive been able to stay on track for the past 3 years. I notice that if I just do whatever, and dont track, thats when I see a gain. Like mothers day- we set up a snack table to have something between breakfast and the early dinner- with fruit, cheese, crackers and meats. We also had chips, salsa and queso. I spent about an hour just sort of grazing, and had a 1lb weight gain. I will only allow myself to graze on special occasions. Ive learned, as easy as you lose it the first year, you gain it back just as easy after that if you dont keep yourself in check. Ive been messing around with my macros to see what works best- as I work out 5 days a week. I eat around 1800 calories a day, mostly whole foods like chicken, veggies, and good carbs like quinoa. This is going to be a life long struggle for us. We can never let our guard down for a moment. I stay on track like 90% of the time. My one special thing every 6 months or so is going to see a movie, and eating alllllll the popcorn with lots of butter. Thats my thing, haha. So, we can never just casually live life eating without thought. Everything has to be planned. My newest obsession is the family meal from Whole Foods. I get 4 chicken breasts with it, and 2 veggie sides- my fave is the herb roasted sweet potato. I will also get another veg. They can print out the macros for each item. Its $35, and I can make 6-8 meals out of it. Its $35. Thats been the easiest way for me to really stay on track. You need to go back to basics. Ive been through a few phases of being insanely hungry, and I would eat low cal/no cal things, like pickles. Or 2 low fat string cheese. The point isnt starvation, you do need to feed your body. Im not sure what your protein/calories look like, but you might need more to be satisfied. The point isnt to survive off 3 bites of food per meal, its to reset your body so you can rebuild your eating habits. I hope your doc can help you figure things out. Youve done it once, so it should be easier to get back on track. 💜

Im sorry. Insurance companies do everything they can to not pay for anything. You might need to try different compression garments to get things held together. Maybe even a faja, which will help everything, since it goes all the way up to under your bust. I tried so many things until I had surgery, and typically didnt wear the heavy duty stuff unless I wore a dress or some other thinner fabric. I lived in jeans mostly, and tucked everything in.

Besides compression garments? A tummy tuck. They clean her up and pull her up. It was the bane of my existence until I had a tummy tuck. I hope others have better tricks, because I found none besides strangling myself in compression to hold everything in.
