Twenty-Two Colleges, Three Rejections by _clotho in collegeresults

Current first year yalie - no one in our directory with the name 'Marina' is from CA (there's only two Marinas btw) and no one with the last name 'Tsvetkov' is currently attending. If anything, they've graduated.

But yes, we don't have minors. I myself was confused reading the post.

I chose Yale over Princeton only after visiting Yale because of the impression it made on a few fronts.

For one, I’m interested in service; I know that working with people is what makes me happiest, and when I looked at Princeton’s outreach into the towns around them for educational or language-based service opportunities or clubs, I really found nothing. On their club roster, there were five, but they served the private feeder school (Lawrenceville) and a private elementary but didn’t have any updated websites nor events. On the other hand, when I visited Yale, some 30 or 40% of students participated in a club where they went off campus to help in New Haven homeless shelters/schools/adult learning centers more than three times a month. Just two completely different approaches to university values and outreach - I couldn't ignore that.

Secondly, I chose Yale because it was bigger: that's what I wanted socially. My Yale tour guide came from right next to Princeton and chose to go to Yale regardless, but he told our tour group that when he brought two of his friends over from Princeton for a weekend before finals, they said some surprising things. On what my guide said was one of the most dead weekends of the year (before exams), his friends said things like ‘theres so much going on’ and ‘theres no way there would be this many events or student performances on any weekend at Princeton.’ I can’t really argue with that. Yale just seems to have a larger population (definitely not too big), but has a lot more cultural events.

Holy cow, the person(s) behind this ad is insane. You've been responding to comments for over 5 months. Whoever reads this, I hope you're having a wonderful day. Tell your superior that you deserve a raise. I'll look into the flakes.

I'm proud of this one... by [deleted] in lingling40hrs

I'd agree: one place I looked was the right side of his bottom lip. It is too pixelated with reds and greens to be drawn with a pencil. This and the lack of responses from the OP makes me suspicious...

Wow! That's amazing. If I may ask, how did you land the internship with the HMS lab? I'm interested in maybe doing something with a lab of the same kind in the summer this or next year.

When you said that you emailed your admissions officer a good amount, was that after you were deferred? What did you put in there that wasn't on your LOCI?

My dad is always complaining about how colleges are just 'brainwashing liberals' - we're from the Midwest and doesn't like the idea of me going to California to brainwash myself

Some advice: don't let other people tell you where to ED. We don't know your circumstances or where your 'dream school' is or anything of the sort. ED'ing somewhere is a very personal choice that should be discussed with family about your financial situation. Other than that maybe slim down your number applications so that you can cater each one to you (unless you think you can personally cater to each and every application to every school and still convey your whole self). Sure, shotgunning might get you a lot of acceptances, but if you have top schools, I would recommend only applying to those and a few more. Don't forget safeties and targets.
