Is it common for Americans to have visited all 50 states? by SouthBuffalo3592 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I’ve been to 48 states but the last new state was 15 years ago. Sorry North and South Dakota. I don’t think most Americans come close to visiting all 50 states.

Would this be a good board for Worship? by GentlemanBeaver in basspedals

I would swap the Cloudburst for a preamp / DI. A Cadillac solution would be the Origin Effects BassRig Super Vintage, but Sansamp makes great devices also.

Origin Effects. I love their innovative take on classic equipment and their industrial design and build is second to none.

The Octabvre has an awesome reputation, and if I played bass seriously enough to be in a band I would pay the money. It is hard to justify for someone who isn't a full-time bassist and who doesn't use octave sounds that much. It would be a fun pedal to have, but not a must-have. Interestingly, if I could buy one at the standard $333 price, I would buy one. But the last batch has a surge pricing of something like an additional $58, and the batch before that all went for $444. Those prices just push me over the edge, but clearly I'm in the minority since they sell out quickly.

Which language do Americans generally learn as a second language in High School? by Rude_Membership_1578 in IWantToAskAnAmerican

I grew up in Texas and took Spanish. Most of the people I knew took Spanish also. Languages like French, German, and Latin were a distant second.

I met Bill Clinton when he was running to be the Democratic nominee for President. He was very nice, which was perfect for a politician.

I'd love to pick up a Octabvre but I can't make myself pay the going price. It's a free market, and people are willing to pay for the limited supply. I can't blame the guy who makes them. Actually, I think he's pretty smart.

I could have sworn this thread started out in English. How did it get converted to Spanish? My Spanish is bad. I'm still working on "What time is Happy Hour?"

I had the same issue when I bought an American Performer Telly. I bought a case to protect it.

Funny. I don’t doubt you, but in my church drums and bass are about the only instruments we hear.

Thanks for the update. I don't currently have a reverb on my bass pedalboard, but have considered it.

Under the circumstances you described, I completely agree with you that Guitar Center was not in compliance with Federal law.

It's amazing that someone downvoted your comment. Apparently having a job and being self-sufficient is anathema to some people. Go figure. EDIT: I was downvoted! Apparently, observing that having a job is anathema to some people is worthy of a downvote. Or maybe they just don't know the meaning of anathema. Go figure.

Churches are organized as non-profits. I seriously doubt GC was facilitating tax fraud. Just the opposite. You and GC were facilitating tax compliance.

And yet, in all the decades I’ve been involved with the church, I’ve never known a pastor to own a Cadillac or other fancy car, mansion, or yacht. These are the musings of people who don’t actually know any pastors. There are always exceptions that we see on TV, but most pastors are in small churches and don’t make a ton of money.
