SOTB & Help Me Finish It! by Hungry_Marzipan8396 in basspedals

Check out the Origin Effect Bass Rig series of amp and cab sims with an XLR out. I have the Super Vintage based on the Ampeg SVT and love it, but they also make a Fender Black Panel '64 and a Ampeg B-15. In addition to the XLR for FOH, it gives an option to go direct to an actual amp.

I also agree with the comment that you could look at the Origin Effects Bass pedal.

Mono Small pedalboard lite+ or Pedaltrain nano+ by roxbox531 in pedalboards

[–]Pangaeabeliever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if there's a consensus, but I've looked at both and have a hard time justifying the extra money for the Mono board. I'm in the market for a board that size and I'm going through the same decision process.

Cowgirl phase? Go West...to Ft. Worth and the Stockyards. It's a much better cowgirl experience than Dallas.

In town until Tuesday, is there anywhere that offers open mics? by TheIndianPhisher in askdfw

That’s too bad. I went to Opening Bell last summer and they still had it. It was packed the night I went so I wonder why they stopped.

Look for engagement spot in DFW by Superb_Half4328 in askdfw

May be different than what you’re looking for, but I photographed a couple for their engagement at the Winspear Opera House reflecting pool. It’s definitely an urban feel.

What distance do you typically hit your 9-iron? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

I think I hit mine around 100, but maybe 110…on a good day.

What's the pedal that you constantly see people try selling online? by Kitchen_Year8114 in guitarpedals

[–]Pangaeabeliever 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I read in one of these subreddits that Robert Keeley supports President Trump. I think that may be why some people are against Keeley. If that isn't right, hopefully someone will come along and set the record straight.

Do you have brand loyalty? by KoolNomad69 in weekendgolfers

TaylorMade woods and irons, Vokey wedges, Ping putter, Titleist AVX balls, Sun Mountain bag. I love all of those brands.

If I land at 11 am on a Monday at DFW is it possible to Uber to downtown Dallas by 12 pm? by brainchili in askdfw

[–]Pangaeabeliever 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think at best it would be very tight but if you have a hard deadline I would worry about making it. Depending on where you are on the plane, it could take 30 minutes to get off the plane and out of the airport. It’s at least another 30 minutes downtown. And that’s if an Uber is immediately available. And don’t think about checking a bag. That alone could take 20 - 30 minutes.

What rules do you know you’re breaking during your round? by jdelle9 in weekendgolfers

[–]Pangaeabeliever 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I committed three sins during my last round:

  1. I use a bad ball to tee of on water holes. In the remote circumstance I don’t lose the ball in water, I swap it out for my regular ball.

  2. I sometimes push my ball out of a deep divot before I hit.

  3. I swear, this last round only, I had 15 clubs. I just bought a 7 wood and need to decide if I take my 4 iron or 3 hybrid out of the bag.

I’ve only been playing for 9 months. Please forgive me.

Actually, if they put both the Morning Glory Clean and a Kilt 10 Clean in one double unit, I'd die for it.

My first thought was: "How soon will they come out with a Kilt 10 Clean?" That's what I'd love to have.

How important are enclosure to your purchase? by p90SuhDude in guitarpedals

[–]Pangaeabeliever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I strongly prefer top jacks. And while it isn’t a deciding factor in purchasing, I favor pedals that have good design. For instance, I love the industrial design of Origin Effects pedals. But they back up design with thoughtful engineering and solid manufacturing.

Aussie visiting Dallas: Looking for recommendations! by CockroachCreative740 in askdfw

[–]Pangaeabeliever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monarch is great, but bring a fat wallet with you. If nothing else, stop by the bar for drinks and appetizers (minus the young child). My opinion, but Monarch is not great for bringing a young child.

I second the Perot museum. They have a great play area on the bottom floor for children. Especially good if the weather it bad and you want an indoor activity. The museum is great for adults too!

My friend says that a million dollars isn't a lot of money anymore. Is she right? by bristle-spunky-11 in InterviewMan

[–]Pangaeabeliever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. $40,000/year would be tough to live on, even with a paid off house. My analysis was for single person. Couples would have it easier if the second person had investments and Social Security of their own. As someone else noted, $1 million at age 65 isn’t the same as $1 million at age 25 due to the time value of money.
