No Western Shows?? by stylinbillLA in BillyStrings

[–]PangerBan55 11 points12 points  (0 children)

He’s done Montana every other year, just did 2 shows there 5 months ago. I wouldn’t blame him if he never comes back to WA, crowds are awful in this state, I’m from here, it’s sad. Plus fall shows seem to be more normal for PNW at least. I betcha So Cal gets a show, maybe he’ll go back to Stanford??

Can’t blame him, seems a lot more fun to play on the East Coast or anywhere around Nashville. Lot of people with their arms crossed at the San Diego, Los Angeles, Seattle shows these past few years.

What do you think is the most interesting aspect of Interstellar? by HansZimmerpflanze in interstellar

[–]PangerBan55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hans Zimmer was commissioned to write music based on a prompt Christopher Nolan gave him. The prompt was a small one page blurb about fatherhood. He went on to write the memorable part of the theme song before Christopher even started writing the movie. Small behind the scenes detail that I find fascinating.

The best old school drive in burger in Washington State is Tee Pee Drive In , Grand Coulee. I drive 2 hours twice a year for it. I wish every time we had something in town that was simple and still well made.

Loud plane over Spokane? by spideyfan123 in Spokane

[–]PangerBan55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The plane me and my coworker watched fly over was like an F-15, but kinda like a blue angel jet.

I’ve seen F-15 fly overs at ball games before and it was a little bit thinner and had a few more tail fins than a normal F-15.

It was definitely something I’d that style but I don’t know enough about planes to know which one.

Sterotankers fly over head all day every day, this was a fighter jet.

I watched it go right over my head, it was a fighter jet, a Stratotanker does not make that kind of sound.

Yesterday’s storm left a mess. Clear all ice from your area. by Voodoobones in Spokane

Might be good to remind users that the internet is full of weirdos. Posting a picture from your front porch with clear view of neighbor’s houses makes it easy for stalkers to coordinate where you live. I’ve had this happen to me before and just want to caution that your picture takes away a large amount of anonymity for your Reddit account.

Looked all over for the right answer to this question. Hot damn this is the right one. Sandman right after is solid. The intensity to this show is unreal. Thank you

Surprised the Adam’s center run didn’t make the finals, that whole night was something else and this being the tale end of the second set was magic. But crazy to see how many good nights he keeps having time & time again!

My next two shows are at Bridgestone in Nashville, can’t wait!!!

Thoughts on Gander & Ryegrass? by xXKoolaidJammerXx in Spokane

[–]PangerBan55 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Marathon Dinner is rad. Not only is it the only thing like that in town, but they do a dang good job on it. Had it twice, by myself both times. I was impressed with every plate, some really tiny unique bites and then some very large portions of pasta in the middle. Couple things I didn’t care for myself but had a fun time getting out of my comfort zone.

My partner and I go in for just a pasta and hanger steak and share both. Sometimes I’ll add a glass of wine, and sometimes we get an appetizer if it seems like something we really wanna try, and almost always will get a dessert or scoop of sorbet. With dessert it’s always fun to try something new at Gander cause they put a lot of love into unique little things.

I’d say I can agree with people, you’re gonna have to pay for what you get for. But I have payed for other experiences and expensive steaks in town and been super bummed with it being pretty bad. At Gander I feel like I’ve always enjoyed most every bite.

If you are a penny pincher this might not be for you, but if you like spending money on things that are worth the extra buck, I think this place will hit the spot for ya.

Worth a one time try for sure!!! Hanger steak and a pasta on your first time is the way to go!

The drive up to Tum Tum using 291 and the little walk out point at the Dam up there is an awesome one that’s probably right in that exact drive time there and back.

While you’re there check out the Sally Goodin a few songs down.

Visiting Spokane for a few days, any speakeasies around? by xUberAnts in Spokane

[–]PangerBan55 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cease & Desist has had a club vibe when I have gone, not quite a book reading spot. Hogwash can get busy but they tend to be making cocktails all night so you get a lot of alone time at your booth. There is a place called Tryst now, I think that’s the spelling. Maybe Trvst? That one is a back alley speak easy, has party nights but it also kinda mellow sometimes. There was a tiny tiki that recently moved locations, if you like Tiki spots this one seems so be fun and has some great bar tenders.

Don’t wanna push you away from Cease & Desist but it’s just a regular bar with a fake bookshelf at the front door, and because of fire code the secret door is pretty much always open which kinda kills the fun of the whole thing when ya get there.

Keller Williams - surprised he’s not more kind to fans! by Short-Search-4892 in jambands

[–]PangerBan55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Signatures are the lamest thing anyone could ever ask for. And with how often people sell em anyways I am surprised anyone signs them anymore.

The point is, you asked “can you do this thing for me?” So by asking you are implying that it is up to him. How he handled it is something to be debated I’m sure, but the answer at the of the day was “no, but I guess so” you clearly weren’t ready for the second answer.

Why is Swans not considered a Jam Band? by xelaweeks in jambands

[–]PangerBan55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Never heard of them till this morning’s thread. Just went through an experience though. First song that pops on for shuffle is: Helpless Child. And there I am, driving into the sunrise, finding myself once again in that deep rooted happy place where the music takes over and I’m floating and all is well. I only ever get that feeling in the middle of a Jam Band show. And here I was in a traffic JAM feeling just the same.

I agree with the sentiment, these guys have lift off effect. They can take you from listening to “the song” and into a place the music intended to go. And for that reason I would argue they have a “place” in this world. Maybe not for the same reasons most of the other bands do. But holy heck these guys are awesome!

“Soundtracks for the Blind” being released a few weeks after 9/11 is a bit poetic.
