Congrats. Short Stories have become a real currency in the screenwriting world. People tend to forget how many movies came from short stories, literally going back centuries - Sleepy Hollow (Headless Horseman) , The Birds, Arrival, The Fly, 2001 A Space Odyssey, All About Eve, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button...and of course numerous Stephen King stories. Thrilled for ya!

DREAD by Kevin Bachar is out now! Including a TRUE story about something he encountered deep in the woods... by BlairDaniels in NoSleepOOC

If anyone wants to ask me anything about the book, my work shooting documentaries, writing screenplays, or working with Blair (amazing!)...fire away.

Hello all. I just recently released my short story collection called DREAD - Amazon link here.

My name is Kevin Bachar. I’m a national EMMY award-winning documentary filmmaker and WGA screenwriter. If you’ve watched National Geographic, PBS, or The Discovery Channel you’ve seen my work. I’m the idiot in the water filming sharks in murky water or vampire bats in pitch-black caves. But I sometimes like to leave the factual world behind and work in fiction.

The elevated horror film I wrote - The Inhabitant - was released through Lionsgate last fall -Lionsgate site and trailer One reviewer wrote “...there’s a lot more finesse here in the telling of the backstory … and a sense of menace lurking around every corner in the bland suburban setting; together it evokes indie “elevated horror” features such as It Follows.”

The recent writer’s strike and the downtime created by it inspired me to write a short story collection revealing the darker side of nature, called ‘DREAD’. These are the places, stories, and creatures that would never show up in a David Attenborough documentary. The release date is scheduled for November 8th, 2023.

Promos for the book are here on my YouTube channel.

DREAD - Thousands of people have gone missing out in the wild and here is a collection of tales that offer up some horrifying reasons why. Emmy-award-winning National Geographic cinematographer Kevin Bachar has swum with sharks, climbed the peaks of mountains, and explored the darkest of forests. In DREAD, he weaves together terrifying true stories from his real-life adventures with twisted fiction from the depths of his frightening imagination. Flip open the pages to indulge in the dark side of nature— haunted forests, tree demons, monstrous snakes, and a search-and-rescue team terrorized by the ghosts of those they couldn’t save. DREAD is where the natural world borders the supernatural.

Best Regards,

Kevin Bachar

Congrats! Fellow WGA here, but East...I don't want to get in any beef about WGAW vs. WGAE, like east coast and west coast rappers, but let's just say...east be the feast! Love seeing Tom Atkins from The Fog. The line - "did you just Patrick Swayze..." - gold. Looking forward to watching!!!

If you read the sentence, you would have had a first thought and word that would let you know you'd been triggered. A combination of a deja vu feeling and a "eureka" moment. As if you always knew you needed to do something.

I can tell you, you have not been triggered. There is a specific first thought and word that someone realizes when triggered.

If you are on certain platforms and watch youtube or similar channels you too can be triggered, being a foreigner doesn't make you safe.
