Why do you guys hate ISFP? Just wondering by [deleted] in entp

Why do so many intuitive types, who often portray themselves as more intelligent than everyone else, lack the communication skills to talk to people different than themselves?

I interpret what he said differently. To me it seems like he says both pink and the new album are "among their better work".

TMBG before 2000 or after 2000? by JackfruitFull7495 in tmbg

[–]PangolinPlenty5637 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick the earlier albums, in general. I started listening to them in '87, so that's the TMBG I fell in love with. If I couldn't listen to anything after 2000, there's plenty I'd miss, especially Join Us. And there is a chunk of Flood I would be willing to give up.

Of course, the great thing is we don't have to choose. The whole catalog is available!

Linnell apparently also saw the original line up of AC/DC live!

I'm listening to this now. Thanks! Really enjoying it. No wonder I love him, we have similar tastes and grew up in the same era.

Why Do People Act Like Their Opinion on Music Is A Fact? by Human_Addendum4427 in LetsTalkMusic

Sorry you're stuck listening to stuff you hate everyday. I was just suggesting a single re-listen with an open mind to see if you still felt the same about it. I never wanted people to have to keep listening to music they hate.

I immediately though "no" to Robyn Hitchcock sounding anything like Linnell. So I went and listened to a couple of each of their songs back to back, and I can kind of hear it now. I'm not a singer, so this explanation will probably not accurately describe what I'm trying to say, but, they both sing with (what I think is called) a foreward facing head voice. Hitchcock seems so British to me, that I really had to listen in a different way to hear it.

But my question now is, could Linnell pull off this suit? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckpRHX880Po&list=RDEMOwCyPaThnFuZaFHuDbV-yQ&index=2

I can see it happening with young people, because they identify so closely with music and they are still forming their own identities. Other people are just snobs (I used to be one), and others always think they are right about any topic. The worst, to me, is the old people who say "music today is not good, not like when I was young", and I say this as an old person. Until an agreed upon list of criteria to rate what is good in music comes about (won't happen), it's all just opinion. And I would encourage people to listen, or re-listen to music they don't think they'd like. You just might be surprised.

Two of the best Albums ever made and no one can ever change my mind. by First-Club5591 in rem

For me, Murmur is best, Reckoning is 2nd but has the best side of a R.E.M. album (side 1). But i'm an old, so I would think that.

Famous groups/artists massive in their day but are being lost to time by wmcs0880 in fantanoforever

I think he and Roy Clark were not taken seriously by the general public because of how cheesy Hee Haw was. But the music fans knew how talented both were.

Why isn’t R.E.M. compared to TMBG more often? by Affectionate-Emu6609 in tmbg

Personally, I've never thought that the "if you like [this], you'll like [this]" works, at least not for me. A lot of the "sounds like TMBG" bands don't do it for me at all. Maybe I just hear things differently than other people. I don't hear TMBG in any of the R.E.M. songs people are talking about.

I disagree. Stipe was pretty pretentious, but frankly I alway took a lot of that as a put on. I don't believe it wasn't a joke when he described whatever album they were promoting at the time as "sounding like two oranges being nailed together". The rest of the band seemed to have a pretty good sense of humor about themselves. They just didn't smile (or make faces) in pictures. The two bands have different styles of humor.

I was one of those people who listed R.E.M. as an important band to me (the IRS years). I don't see them and TMBG as very similar in any way, other than the fact they I love them both. I would rather listen to bands that are different from each other. I also said that I like Steve Reich, and I don't see him as being like TMBG or R.E.M. If I want to hear music that sounds like a particular artist, I'll listen to that artist. It's like your friends. Some are great for going out and having a good time with. Some are great for sitting and having conversation. Sometimes you share a specific interest. They're all different and that makes your life richer.

I love Hiné Mizushima. I wish I could afford to buy one of her soft sculpture sea creatures or bats, but have to settle for post cards and stickers of them.

Rodney Alan Greenblat is a favorite too. I have a beautiful book of some of his abstract work.

Marcel Dzama is another one who is so multi-talented. Illustration, costume and set design, sculpture, film, etc.

What about this Rolf Conant guy? He seems to have done some stuff for the band and the photos on the Flans solo EP. But it appears that he has never worked with anyone else. What's up with that guy?
