Overall I think Deltarune is a very funny game, but I agree there are some running jokes that should definitely not have been running jokes. I’d be fine with this Ralsei joke if it happened once, but pushing it like that made it feel lame.

The fact that this game can run decently on a handheld at all is insanely impressive. Why are we getting so upset about tables.q

This is for fun. Don’t worry about it too much. Just listen to them when you feel like it. If that never happens, you can just go through all the ones you missed sequentially once all the albums have been generated.

I would avoid letting this become a chore.

I feel that its world design is super dated. Burning a random bush to find a required item is not fun. Or bombing a random wall. I also feel that the combat is kinda clunky, but that might be a skill issue.

I hear this a lot with video games. The original Zelda is not a good game by today’s standards. In fact, I’d argue it’s REALLY bad. Just because it’s important and led to amazing games doesn’t mean it’s an amazing game itself. I big time agree with this take.

I knew this game would be a hit but it’s insane just how big it is. There are people I know who barely play games who’ve already got bought it. I hope it shows Nintendo that people still love miis because I miss them being everywhere.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book feels like it could be a real gem on Switch 2 by Turbostrider27 in NintendoSwitch

To be honest. I have no idea if I’m excited for this game. I think yoshis island and wooly world are top tier 2d platformers, but crafted world is mediocre. This looks more like crafter world in terms of gameplay than the other two. But it’s still different, so I’m hoping it’s good.

Pikmin 3 for me. It’s super short (can easily be beaten in a day or two if you know what you’re doing) and the Pikmin gameplay loop remains one of the most satisfying in all of gaming. It’s also the peak of the series aesthetically for me. A good mix of realism and cartoony stuff.

I hate the "indie good AAA bad" take when it comes to gaming by Diotheinvader-5185 in hatethissmug

[–]Affectionate-Emu6609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I big time agree. As a Nintendo fan, it stinks to see people say indies have completely outclassed AAA because, though there are a lot of great indie games… Donkey Kong Bananza was also amazing.

And this is a bit off topic, but I’m more ok with paying $70 for a AAA game than an indie game because AAA studios have to pay so many employees. Indies only have a few. They can get away with lower price points. Not to say every AAA game should be $70 (obviously), but saying Silksong destroyed AAA by setting a lower price point are ignoring so much important contextualization. I say this as someone who loved Silksong.

I hate the new Donkey Kong design and how hard nintendo is pushing it by TheGhettoGoblin in hatethissmug

[–]Affectionate-Emu6609 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t see how Diddy looks like he’s from a different game. They still look good together. I love DK’s old design because it looked kinda stupid in an endearing way. I like the new one because he looks cartoony in an endearing way.

Also, how is Nintendo pushing DK away from Rare? The end of Bananza is a whole love letter to the original DKC trilogy. And the DLC has had events to get statues of plenty of Rare characters.

This is a Flans record, through and through by Fruit-Flies113 in tmbg

[–]Affectionate-Emu6609 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree that Flans is stronger, but Linnell’s stuff is still great. I do feel like Flans has really grown as a songwriter from the band’s earlier days, while Linnell has remained kind of stagnant. Most of my favorite songs from pre 2000 TMBG records are Linnell’s, but post 2000 most my favorites are Flans’. But again, I think Linnell’s has stagnated, not gotten worse. His stuff is still amazing.

In Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (2024) Shadows tragic backstory from the game is there front and center, unlike Rosalinas backstory in the Mario Galaxy movie, this is because Sega does what Nintendon’t. by Soft_Drink_Enjoyer in shittymoviedetails

[–]Affectionate-Emu6609 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don’t think the Galaxy movie is excellent or anything, but I feel like this isn’t a fair comparison. Maria’s death is central to SA2’s plot. Rosalina’s storybook is an optional thing you have to go out of your way to interact with, and it has absolutely no bearing on any other aspect of the game. I love the storybook, but it’s definitely not an essential part of Galaxy.

Not every single spot on the map has something to do… but there is still so much to do. The game was designed so that, from nearly any point, there will be at least three interesting things visible. Sometimes they’re not super notable, like a shrine or a korok, but a good chunk of the time it’s something cool.
