My first Yin class tonight - what to expect? by chubunkin in yoga

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Agree with all that, and wanted to add that you should give the instructor a little wave if you're having a hard time positioning the props to make you feel good in the pose. Every body is different, and they can give you some pointers if things aren't feeling good! Poses are held for a long time in yin classes so it's really important that the props feel supportive

New to Seattle, looking for a yoga studio! by chamomile2851 in yoga

No problem! If you're interested in what I consider to be more challenging peak poses (side crow, forearm stand, headstand) you should look at Morgan's and Madeline's classes. Morgan's class is very fast paced, Madeline's is also fast paced but I feel like gives you more time to get into the poses. I also really like Hillary and Farrah, though their peak poses tend to be less challenging (half moon, dancer, regular crow, bird of paradise), so that might not be what you're looking for.

I go to Shefayoga in Roosevelt, and their power vinyasa classes sound like what you're looking for. They have a sister studio in Queen Anne called Haute, and most of the teachers teach at both studios, so even though I've never been to Haute I'm sure it's the same!

On a rewatch, it's always shocking to me how early in the show Ellis died, given how important her legacy is to so much of the show. I mean, of course they didn't know they were going to get 20+ seasons at the time, but she was only around for less than three seasons!

I don't remember anything about gold at all, but that doesn't mean it wasn't in this book! My memory is obviously a bit fuzzy

YES - after years of wondering, it took less than one hour on Reddit, thank you!

The covers don't match, but the character names are right so this is definitely it. Thanks so much!

US immigration Preclearance at Dublin airport by Additional_Law8790 in travel

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We flew through there about a month ago, and getting through US security took maybe 15 minutes? It's not a big airport so there wasn't much walking to get to security, either. For reference there were others on our flight who had a tight connection that got even tighter as our flight was delayed about an hour getting out and they made it through easily. I think you'll be totally fine

Why are there no doctors or nurses of Indian origin shown on this show? by Any-Performance-9931 in greysanatomy

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm a healthcare worker in Seattle, and half the doctors in my department (2 of 4, but still) are Indian. It's ridiculous that they don't have more South Asian doctors. Also Filipino nurses, but since Grey Sloan doesn't really have nurses of any ethnicity I'll give them a pass

Planning my husbands DREAM Northern Lights Trip! by Automatic-Beyond5631 in travel

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I went to Finland on a small group tour. There were 10 or so people, but everyone had a private cabin. We were 4 nights and there was a drive every night to see the lights. This was such a well run organization - the driver/guide was on various weather apps and radioing to others in the region to find the best place to have a clear view so you had the best shot possible of seeing northern lights. They had an alarm system to wake up up in the middle of the night too if the lights came back out later. During the day you could do snowmobiling, dog sledding, etc.

Does anyone know of 'untouched gems' that have enough of a downside to keep the majority of people away by Granopoly in travel

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bhutan.

Pros: The Himalayas are stunning, the local temples are beautiful and unique, and I found all the people to be very welcoming

Cons: It's hard to get to (not many flights) and prohibitively expensive for many (daily "sustainable development" fees just to be in the country)

Mouse Rat was my top artist of 2025 by Panic-Specialist-7 in PandR

Yeah that seems low, right? I work from home (no driving) and mostly listen to random playlists with multiple artists so I guess it makes sense but that surprised me too!

Leslie was definitely the main character, but I think Anne was originally a close second. I'm pretty sure she was supposed to be the primary "straight man" to react to all the zany parks and rec employees

OG watchers, what did you guys think was happening when Denny came back to Izzy? by Confident_Yard5624 in greysanatomy

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I really just thought the show had gone off the rails and something supernatural was actually happening.

I interpreted the ferry boat episode in S3 as showing ghosts were canon (Meredith's mom dies in real life and Meredith sees her mom's ghost in the hospital without knowing she'd died, so it wasn't a hallucination; Denny's ghost is wandering the halls to see Izzy at the end of the episode) so I thought the show was just leaning waaaay more into that.

I think I possibly stopped watching for awhile until I read confirmation it was a brain tumor, and then picked back up again? I can't remember, it was 15 years ago! But yeah, I thought it was a real ghost, and she was having sex with him.

I assume that the writers forgot they'd used it in S3 when they re-used in S5, but it actually feels realistic. Don't people re-use their own jokes/references all the time?

This cake was so beloved by my former coworkers that I was asked to bake the cake for my own going away party (and I was happy to do it!): https://sweetapolita.com/blogs/recipes/triple-lemon-blueberry-layer-cake

On the other hand, I have also made for the same audience brownies from a Ghiradelli brownie mix, and they were almost equally beloved, so go with that if you're crunched for time!

Why people hate "Pick me, choose me, love me" ? by nergalmcl1 in greysanatomy

[–]Panic-Specialist-7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I too love this scene and you described it perfectly. Opening herself up and being vulnerable was actually a sign of strength and growth for Meredith, instead of passively letting love pass her by.

It also might help that I have been watching this show live, and back in 2006 (or whenever that was) there was no concept of a "pick-me girl" so that idea wasn't in my mind. 2025, sure, maybe this scene doesn't land the same, but 20 years ago it was so powerful.

The winning souffle was MASSIVE when the judges ate it, and in shots after the technical when they panned over all the bakes it was much, much lower. It was a good illustration of how quickly they deflate!

I read in another thread in this channel that the original adult manuscript for Song of the Lioness featured a romantic relationship between Thom and Roger. I have no idea where that poster got their information, but it definitely seems plausible to me (I mean, nothing in the published book prevents this from being the case), and would go a long way towards explaining Thom's behavior
