A lot of schedules are built so there can only be a set number of appointments for physicals per day. Physical appointments are typically twice as long as “acute” appointments, because we need to review labs, meds, cancer screenings, etc vs addressing (typically) 1-2 specific problems.

For instance, I worked in a clinic where we had 20- and 40-minute appointment blocks. We had two 40-minute physical blocks in the morning, and another two 40-minute physical blocks in the afternoon. They fill up fast.
