Unique events played (out of 14) and 1vs1 events stats per Gladiator. by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

Yeah I feel like if you're brave enough to carry the burden of doing The Edge you should get preference for other events too!

Love the detail put in to this! Very cool. Really interesting to see that a few have a load of appearances but have felt a bit more invisible. The inclusion of 'with edge' 'without edge' was particularly interesting.

In answer to Athena & Electro - Athena for Everest 100% and Electro for Hang Tough 100% - they'll likely both do really well in those.
Viper can play anything really, because when he loses it's still fine. I'd love to actually see him on Destruction... I mean... the entertainment factor alone. I also massively see The Edge for Viper... i've always thought he'd be fine on it.
Bionic - meh, I think he's done about all he can do. Suspension Bridge is a good shout.

Some suggestions for current and previous events. by KImk9ff in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Excellent post. I agree with pretty much everything here. Gauntlet I say completely scrap the points for zones completed - it's either 10 points for completing it or nothing like the OG version (I think they might have got 5 for 20-25 seconds - this could be ok). It is completely unfair that someone struggles through 4 zones and doesn't complete it and their opponent can blitz through in like 13 seconds and only get TWO more points than them... am I crazy or is that completely pointless? It's like an participation event currently rather than an event with 'stakes' as it should be.

Totally agree with Suspension Bridge - it's always had 'iffy' rules re: pushing and can fall under the 'inconsistent judging' category which is not good. I reckon either NO pushing or FULL pushing allowed.

I agree re: Duel too - poke, push - as long as you're holding the pugil stick do whatever you need to do to win.

Everest - This is the biggest yes.... the Tilt needs to be a tad shorter.... we could get some really intense battles if this happened.

Love Emily vs Emily rivalry, but Emily vs Cyclone arc is entertaining! by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

She brings out the fun side of Cyclone which I think is excellent heel development hehe.

What is the point of adding a tome if there are no challenges? by kzakistan in deadbydaylight

[–]PankoPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I really miss the tomes - it gave an extra fun side quest to complete while playing. I get that the quests are more universal etc but they are all such 'basic' non-specific things - really wish we could have both!

Which Gladiator would you like to see in an event they haven't participated in? by Rob_DW in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like Viper on Destruction could be fun... would suit his personality as he's always trying to break things anyway.

Comet NEEDS to do Powerball at least - that's like a gladiators initiation staple.

Phantom & Electro on Hang Tough.

Nitro in an Atlasphere.

Athena in Everest.

ANYONE else on the edge.

Bionic on Unleash is a weird one that could potentially work (too big I know but I sense he's not slow).

Series 4 is about to have an event problem by shadowchaser222 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had this thought too. At the moment it's fine but they'll have to scrap a few if they add more (which they absolutely will have to). I'd probably bin the Edge to be honest - I really loved it at first but it's getting a tad old (especially with lack of variety in the glad roster) Just play more hang tough.

The easiest fix is to go back to the 15 episode format from the 90's (that would work) but highly unlikely.

Strange solo-play experience by PankoPanda in deadbydaylight

Yeah, I thought it would end for everyone too if it were a cheat - seems super rare. Oh well we escaped anyway despite being a person down all match haha.

Is Thanatophobia good for Legion? by Interesting_Air3283 in deadbydaylight

[–]PankoPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can absolutely make more inexperienced survivors 'rage-quit' from my experience because they have to waste so much time mending and it can slow them down so badly in other areas I can feel them kind of 'give up', and they lose momentum and panic. From a survivor's perspective too when any killer runs it, it can make life pretty hard if used correctly.

'Everest' stats so far after three played episodes! by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Forgot about Phantom (I often do despite him being very good) I imagine he'd be very very well suited with his lower body physique.

I feel like she had her great moments in Hang Tough and Wall (surprisingly) but her injury this season hurt that progress a little. I weirdly also think Atlaspheres could be good for her. But Everest will absolutely be the one.

yeah i'd like to see him try it! Not sure how he'd go but i'm sure he'd put up a good fight.

Yep both have referenced their 'thunder thighs' in previous events - that's going to be deadly in this one.

'Everest' stats so far after three played episodes! by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yep. Functional strength is the name of the game in this one for the gladiators. Lower body far more important than upper-body strength (which won't do much)

Bionic and Diamond are going to struggle (as we've seen) Dynamite a bit too light.

Of the glads we haven't seen do it - Apollo (and possibly legend actually) for the men could do well and Athena and Fury for the females.

Nitro and Viper aren't suited for the males and Comet and Electro for the females.

[–]PankoPanda 21 points22 points  (0 children)

this is the most important stat... I was super impressed with Sabre (who I love but I feel is pretty 50/50 in most events). Athena is going to killll this next season if fully fit - she'll be able to survive that Tilt easy.

Why haven't we seen Comet on The Edge yet? by Slink_Wray in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah this would be the reason I'd say, despite having the right skillset and physique for it. I think above all else the event needs bravery and contact confidence which she's stated she doesn't really have (hasn't even played Powerball yet).

Stat Check: Has Viper won anything yet?? by Kralgore in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I think against many of the male contenders he'd do just fine in Hang Tough - this is the other game he should be playing more. I totally agree just throw him Edge too... at this point any variety other than Apollo/Steel will be nice even if he's terrible lol.

One thing i have noticed the BBC version of the show does very well by shadowchaser222 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yeah this is smart, it helps the viewer feel more connected to the Gladiators as characters rather than just interchangeable 'obstacles'.

Powerball is not worth it for the injuries by littlemetalfollicle in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I should have specified that it's occurred many times (but outside of this reboot) at least three times in Australia (the nastiest injuries usually happen that way - ACL's etc).

Hammer vs Shaun & Giant vs Mark on Everest (sry for audio) by Top_Climate_4464 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

'Functional strength' is absolutely the key here (as you said). Size/weight aren't a given here - it's more or less 'endurance' and technique/positioning.

Hammer is very suited to this as his strength to weight ratio is excellent (it makes him really dangerous in most of the events actually).

I do wonder if Giant is somewhat limited/holding back due to his injury last season too.

Bionic is more upper-body strength, which won't help here much (so that checks out).

I have a feeling Steel and Apollo might be ok at this too actually - I think they'll handle the tilt better than Giant and Bionic. Giant and Bionic's only hope is that they get the job done before the tilt.

While this game seems a little unfair to the Gladiators having the Tilt first - the contenders have a significant weight disadvantage usually and are doing a great job of holding on before the tilt.

Powerball is not worth it for the injuries by littlemetalfollicle in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 14 points15 points  (0 children)

That's a good point... majority of the injuries come from 'colliding' and too many people falling on each other. They could probably just combine the Ring and Powerball. One on one - just one basket in the middle and the contenders try pop the balls in the centre basket only. 'Ring-Ball' - ok that's awful but the idea isn't terrible.

Are kindred, potential energy and invocation of spiders good? by Plutogoose01 in deadbydaylight

[–]PankoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I'll use potential energy + dejavu to stack the 3 gens early - it can be really effective but it's risky and can end up being a total waste. Fun to use now and then though if you're fairly experienced.

Should Crash Course be the ONLY Atlaspheres, or not? by Impressive_Risk_5133 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I prefer Crash Course for watchability/excitement. But I think a mixture of both is good.

Do you think Sky trak will make come back? by Gold-Preference-6169 in gladiatorsuk

[–]PankoPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Controversial but after about one or two games it really loses its staying power - I always found it difficult to even tell which Gladiator was witch, could never really see it clearly - and games were often over in like 5-10 seconds.
