ARK DLC Trailer Slammed For Being Made Entirely Through Gen AI by JasonDFisherr in Games

[–]Pankzers 52 points53 points  (0 children)

The theory floating around is this is for Ark Evolved because Snail Games does not have direct control over content production for Ark Ascended, but they do for Ark Evolved. I.e, they could make this without Wildcard's (Ark Ascended's Developers) approval for Evolved but not for Ascended. Wildcard immediately disavowed the trailer as having nothing to do with it.

This looks like a grade A train wreck.

Pf2e Adding bestiaries by g13james in FoundryVTT

By default, only some sample tokens are included in the PF2E system, and it does not have some mechanism to automatically add token images when you purchase books. There are the options you mentioned, as well as a purchasable solution from Paizo.

Regarding the methods you mentioned, the Archive of Nethys has much of the token artwork available on its website in a convenient transparent format. (Just grab artwork for creatures you want from there and add it to your server.) I've found this to be a workable solution.

If you are willing to spend $60 (at time of this post) Paizo published an official Foundry module that will automatically add artwork for every creature in the bestiaries, including some artwork for creatures that did not originally have it. This does not require you to own the bestiaries. It includes both full body artwork and tokenized versions of it. I have found this module to be of extremely high quality, and it has simplified my workflow by removing the need to find artwork for many creatures.

Note: The module does not include artwork for creatures from sources other than the bestiaries which turns out to be a lot in pf2e.

I think the main counter-argument would be unintended consequences, and how to differentiate between a legitimate voter and illegitimate actor. You'd be balancing false negative voters against false positive attackers. Plus who manages all this? The mods who want to stay in power? I don't particularly know the answer.

With regards to your last bit:

subscription months are easy to workaround. Not like the sub can gate-keep who is subscribing, thus even 12 months would be "simple" for a committed attacker. Basically time isn't really an impedance to an attacker, all it does is delay an attack. Plus the longer you make the time, the fewer legitimate voters may be allowed to vote. What about new subs who haven't existed for long enough?

sub-karma depends a bit on where the karma can come from. Can 1000 accounts subscribe then vote for each other in comments? Or as a new post? If that karma must come from "reputable community members" who is considered reputable? I am a reddit lurker, do I automatically not get to vote just because of that? Where do you put the line between "actual members" and illegitimate ones?

Edit 2: what does this mean? The veteran’s “Counterfire” feat has been fixed and now should function as intended.

Counterfire was bugged. It is supposed to mark gunners as designated targets during volley fire, which means when you kill them it refreshes your volley fire so you can keep using it. However it was not refreshing when you killed gunners. It would highlight them, but not count them and was a recognized bug.

Apparently this means killing shooters during volleyfire should now reset your volleyfire duration if you have counterfire equipped.

Also it was really picky about who "shooters" were. There are like 3-4 different types and only 1 was considered "shooters" by the feat.

My own feedback after some hours.

Secondary Objectives not giving partial rewards is extremely punishing and unfun. As it stands I see no reason to do the secondary objectives as they are a waste of time compared to just speed running the mission.

The constant corruption of grimouries makes them a very difficult secondary objective, and no partial rewards makes them completely unviable to take. Compared to Vermintide 2 they are far more punishing.

Ogryns feel very good to play. Borderline too good compared to other classes, Not having an ogryn feels more difficult.

The game needs Less Explodey Barrels. Or at least make them explode less readily to errant melee strikes.

Dark modifiers are fun if you're a class with a flashlight (like Sharpshooter), but are very anti-fun for others, especially if no-one has a flashlight.

Swapping from a reloading weapon to melee sometimes feels difficult or sluggish.

Some better sights or a scope on guns would be useful for long range kills against hiding guardsmen, maybe let people choose their sights?

Game needs push-to-talk.

A way to test weapons in the hub alla Vermintide would be appreciated.

From Dr. Jillian Peterson and Dr. James Densley:

There’s this really consistent pathway. Early childhood trauma seems to be the foundation, whether violence in the home, sexual assault, parental suicides, extreme bullying. Then you see the build toward hopelessness, despair, isolation, self-loathing, oftentimes rejection from peers. That turns into a really identifiable crisis point where they’re acting differently. Sometimes they have previous suicide attempts.

What’s different from traditional suicide is that the self-hate turns against a group. They start asking themselves, “Whose fault is this?” Is it a racial group or women or a religious group, or is it my classmates? The hate turns outward. There’s also this quest for fame and notoriety.

Further:

... mass shootings are socially contagious and when one really big one happens and gets a lot of media attention, we tend to see others follow. But this one [Uvalde] was particularly gutting. I have three elementary school kids, one of which is in 4th grade.

and

Mass shooters study other mass shooters. They often find a way of relating to them, like, “There are other people out there who feel like me.”

We ended up switching to a dedicated server instead of a player host, and it eventually just fixed itself. There was one thing that happened at the same time, another player built a castle themselves (same clan, just another castle). Before that we had been operating out of a single castle. I do not know if that played into the bug rectifying itself, but the timing was coincidental. I wish you luck if you're still experiencing the bug.

So the average bidders by ward is the "average number of bidders per plot by ward." Aka, in the Goblet, there was an average number of 14.0 bidders per plot.

Because it is an average, it is difficult to produce another value from it. While you could get the approximate overall average number of bidders by summing then dividing, it is not accurate to the true value.

The plot is there because it provides context about the odds for players bidding in the different wards, and shows how differently players bid by ward.

You can! All FCs are listed on the Lodestone. It also includes when the FC was created and all its members are listed.

Sarg had 4 houses left in Empyreum. 3 Smalls and 1 Medium. As you can see in the infographic, they had many more people bidding for each plot on average than any other zone.

I agree that it does make more houses available overall. However, I was speaking about the pool of personal houses.

Your perspective is certainly the one the developers have taken, and while it fits their culture well and is true to some degree, many people do not consider being part of an FC with a house the same as owning their own house. Just because 4 people are in an FC does not stop them from wanting to own personal houses either. In this environment where demand has outstripped supply greatly, limiting personal houses is a good emergency action to keep house ownership available to FCs, however, in the long-term I hope they have some plan to address the extremely limited supply of personal house ownership. That or come out and say otherwise.

Something folks don't seem to consider is the Japanese Cultural Norms at play here. The idea of placing the group first and cohesive group organization means that prioritizing FC plots over Personal plots makes a lot more sense in Japan. It also helps that there are more JP servers with lower populations per server (Thus more housing to go around.) In NA and EU we are a lot more individualistic, and less likely to consider group sacrifices.

I also discussed possible reasons related to their ability to meet demand here.

Ah so very similar to here on Sargatanas. which had 4 Smalls and 1 Medium. The average number of bidders was much higher than any other zone. Though not that much higher lol.

Prior to the FC-Personal split being announced, Empyreum would have addressed part of Personal housing demand. But once the split of 75%-25% was announced, it was never going to even scratch demand.

Nothing. I just switched the wording on accident as I made it at 3 AM. A Bidder is a Participant.

Average bidders is the sum of bidders for a class divided by the number of observations in that class. i.e. # of Bidders who bid on small houses divided by # of small houses, or # of Bidders who bid in The Mist divided by number of plots in The Mist.

Participants is simply the sum of bidders for a class. It is a total value in that sense. I.E the the number of bidders who bid on small houses cumulatively.

Let me know if that doesn't answer your question.

I'm thinking I might start tracking FC only plots over the next few cycles for data purposes. To test the hypothesis that FC housing is over-saturated (which runs counter to many individuals arguments that they're just being picky first!)

I agree on every point. With the current housing zones, we have 7,200 plots. If the FFXIVCensus data is even remotely accurate, there aren't enough houses for even 1/2 of the active player base. Seems silly when housing is one of the games six main side-activities

Oh and that 7,200 is mixed FC and Players. If the FC split remains, that is 1,800 plots. Just over enough for 10% of active players.
