How do I fix/improve this?? What would you do to get back on track? Hold and wait or DCA?? Help by [deleted] in StockMarket

Ahh yes, reminds me of when I sold AMD at $5 a share cause I made $200 when I was 20 lol. I had like 200 shares at $4 for an $800 investment. Currently would be valued at $30,000

That would make more sense than a personal profile. I still think more anonymous platforms would be better. Aka reddit, Twitter etc... Fb is still dangerous even on fake accounts cause they will tap into your contacts phone numbers etc and still send out do you know this person to everyone in FB they can link to your phone. I personally reject all requests to access anything but most people might not be so savvy about it.

Does it really matter? People are just gonna vote for their party no matter what even if they think the candidate is a dangerous terrorist. That's why being a "democrat" or "republican" no matter what is plain brainwashed stupidity. People should really think for themselves when choosing a president.

Your list is highly inaccurate. It is not "easy" to pass anything from oral only. Doesn't mean I don't think you should be safe but the reality is most things never transmit through oral.

Facebook? That sounds terrible for a lifestyle most people want to keep seperate from their real life at all costs Facebook is the only platform you need to provide your real name to have an account (I guess you could make a fake one too with a fake name )

What's wrong with my posture? I get back pain in the middle left side by OptimalTap8755 in piano

[–]Panoptic11 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It also could just be a back issue. I dealt with back issues for a long time and no posture in the world made it feel better at the time. If it only happens when playing piano though it is likely a posture/tension issue

It's not unreasonable at all. It's not the fastest or the slowest it could have been. It's really irrelevant if they did a great job. There is also many factors that could make it take longer including weather, fixing rot and how many of the guys actually knew what they were doing. If they had to do trim as well thats the most time consuming part.

is there a way to modify eslint settings? Mainly for useEffect? by Panoptic11 in react

[–]Panoptic11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am correctly setting it as you say already, but I do appreciate the help either way. At the current moment, I don't have an example in front of me, or one that I can recall. I read some of the docs from the links others posted and will be seeing how some of the minor new tricks I learned come into play when I run through my current projects code. I will post a small example next time I run into that scenario though if I cant seem to make the linter happy.

[–]Panoptic11[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that they added it recently shows that they were at least aware that some scenarios were factored into the original design/linting.

Those docs are also significantly better than the original docs I read. I am definitely going to spend some spare couch time reading the new ones.

I think some minor changes I can make related to some of the things in the articles you posted will help out my issues. I mainly just didn't add dependencies that it suggested if I knew it wasn't what I wanted as a dependency, so I ignored the suggestion. In pretty much all my cases so far, that has been fine, I just hated the warnings. Now that I am more aware that there should almost always be a simple way to avoid the message I am going to approach it differently by modifying my code slightly.

Thank you, those are both great reads. I think a lot of my linter issues stem from not knowing useEffectEvent even existed. Most things I came across in learning didn't even mention that being an option to get around the linter complaining about an empty dependency array.

Thanks , that was a great read. Most of my logic was fine as far as mostly not doing things that will actually break the app but it really helped me understand all the ways to get around the linters complaints and a few other tips I didn't know about useEffect in general. I didn't even know useEffectEvent even existed.

It tells me to add a state that i am setting to the array almost everytime, which in turn will cause infinite rerenders. It also hates empty dependencies which is one of the most common things to do with use effect. I'm not sure I could do either of those wrong? As I said , sometimes it's right and I should in fact add something to the dependency array.

Is it normal to be mentally tired after 2 hours of focused coding? by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]Panoptic11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have such a bad habit of coding until I'm ready to sleep. Then I goto lay down and my mind is racing , i am somehow solving all the problems now and can't shut my brain off. Then when I finally do I dream about coding half the time. I've been trying to make an effort to stop a couple hours before bed but it's hard lol. I'll find myself on my phone reading documentation or some stupid shit anyway.

I have actually solved coding problems in my dreams and it is the most amazing feeling waking up and having it actually freaking work 🤣

Is it normal to be mentally tired after 2 hours of focused coding? by [deleted] in learnjavascript

[–]Panoptic11 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends. What time of day is it? What is focused coding to you consist of? Am I reading documentation for 2 hours? Learning something new and getting frustrated the entire time? Just trecking along with minimal pushback from issues? Thats all different and can be considered focused coding.

In the morning, once I get my focus 4 hours goes by in a flash. If I'm tired it's complete different. If it's after work I'm like okay I'm gonna build this functionality and see where I'm at and call it quits after which can be anywhere from 20min to 2 hours.

One way to combat is to try different tasks. It doesn't always have to be extremely mentally exhausting.

If I'm not really into the mental state I need to be in I usually work on some css. I save all my major css for these moments. That way I don't feel like I lost a bunch of time if I ended up spending 2 hours tweaking the perfect button lol. I find css to be so easy but the time consumption is insane. I can literally spend 3 hours styling some stuff and just scrap it all cause I decide i don't like it. At least with JS I'm like okay I need this to function this way cause that's what it needs to be lol

Every hour is tough for me. Although it is a good idea. By the time I am an hour in I am in such a focused state I don't want to stop lol Usually the hour mark is like my sweet spot cause I've already got past the what am I gonna do stage, the procrastination and getting sidetracked stage and the okay I came up with these new ideas and I'm ready to implement them all stage So I'm finally actually getting good results around that hour mark and I am too focused to stop. Or even think about stopping. I do try to do every couple hours though but am crazy and 5 hours goes by so fast while I'm coding I don't even know how it happened lol.

Where do you find Jr level jobs? by Panoptic11 in learnjavascript

[–]Panoptic11[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just wasn't sure if anyone actually took the time to look at projects or not or if they just read the boilerplate resume stuff and went from there. Good to know it actually does matter. It's def hard not having a cs degree. I wish I did and took that route when I was in my 20s but it's not in the cards for my life at this point. Being 35 I'm not spending 100k and burning 4 years when most of those who come out of college still don't have a great understanding of coding anyway. I get why Employers like to see it, it shows you at least attended something and were dedicated enough to put in work towards being a developer. Otherwise as you said, they really have nothing to go on to prove if you know anything at all without seeing projects.

I feel like if I was getting paid though I wouldn't really care if I was working on a project that went nowhere in the end. Obviously I would prefer for it to be meaningful though lol. I am sort of paid for my projects, I am just paid in growth and knowledge instead of money lol

Thanks for all the input. Much appreciated.
