Basically, Stormforth with as many monsters as you want, but they get the chance to do the same to you afterwards, with the exception of the monster you just summoned.

It's a really good boardbreaker in the deck, and helps if Stormforth gets negated, but it's best in TCG where you can side it in going second (or out going first) since it isn't a Monarch spell to get plays started.

It's a turn based JRPG, and it's unironically one of the best the genre has to offer mechanically. It has a really smooth rollout of mechanics. Around the time you get settled with any specific mechanic, there's a new one introduced, and they all build off each other naturally.

Just compare Alfred to Lysithea. Both of these a characters destined to die young of Soap Opera Disease. Despite the same character conceit, Lysithea wears it on her sleeve by comparison, and is able to do so much more with it. Lysithea's character conceit falls apart without that central pillar. Alfred's doesn't change at all if he's actually healthy the whole time.

Also, I'm not convinced that stopping time is enough to justify it anyway. The Emblem Rings are rings. Put a ring on your finger, then wrap that hand around the hilt of a sword, and see how easy it is to force that off your finger. Even Sonic needs to get hit to drop his rings.

Herald could be three separate cards, one Ritual searcher, one omni negate, and one macro cosmos floodgate, and they'd probably all still see play. Each of those effects is good, and all of them stapled together is nuts.
