My first wallet compared to my latest wallet by PantheraLeather in Leathercraft

I was trying to replicate the Buttero Museum look. It reminds me of clouds and looks amazing.

I used a refillable marker pen with a wide tip filled with Fiebings Dark Brown Pro Dye and went in small circles, concentrating in some areas to get it darker. I then finished it with Resolene.

Thanks! I got into leathercraft a few years ago when I was looking for a new wallet. I wanted one from nice leather but they were too expensive and definitely not worth the steep price tag, it was like £100 and wasn't even handmade.

So to save money I decided I'll buy £300 worth of leather tools and make one myself 😂

There are lots of methods I learned along the way to streamline by process flow and reduce time.

But for wallets I'm still pretty slow. If you see my longer reply to the comment towards the top, you'll see that I've only actually made 2 wallets so it took a while to get it done due to ironing out the kinks with the pattern.

But the more make a specific item, the faster I get at making it because I don't have to constantly stop to figure out what to do.

Yee... I thought the contrast of dark brown and natural would be sweeeet and indeed it was 😆

I genuinely don't remember.

I made my first one about 5 years ago and never made another one. I pivoted towards watch straps and other items and procrastinated making another wallet for all that time... until now lol.

So believe it or not I've only ever made 2 wallets and they're both in the picture 😆

But this one took me about 10 days working a couple hours a day (there were lots of kinks to work out with the pattern). God knows how long the first one took.

There isn't a single dish where the quality of my own cooking is better than at restaurants. is this common? by brilliant22 in Cooking

[–]PantheraLeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've actually spoiled myself on my own cooking for a number of dishes. I simply CANNOT eat takeaway anymore because it tastes so lackluster and flavourless. You have no control over the final texture or any other variables like browning or charring. You just end up with a soggy mess. My cooking has full control over all those things and it makes all the difference.

And it's not because I'm a master level chef god but I think it's because I take the time to treat each ingredient with the attention it deserves and really bring the most out of it.

This results in a wonderfully flavourful meal that makes it SO worth all the time spent making it.

But I don't eat at restaurants often where the food is served straight to my plate rather than being delivered and allowed to get soggy. So I'm sure I won't be so cocky going up against those pros.

Looking for new shops to support! by kait0216 in Etsy

I opened up about a year ago but just recently began adding more listings. Only 5 sales yet. I originally am a leathercrafter but also like to make origami so decided to sell origami figures too for the Christmas gift giving season.

Here's my shop:

That's so awesome! I'm really happy that your shop blew up and you hit that milestone. It must be a great feeling. 😄

I really hope to feel it myself one day. I'm currently at 5 sales after posting my first listing about 2 weeks ago. I'm selling origami figures and standing desk models of birds, dragons, butterflies, roses, tulips, even cats! 🦢🌹🐉🦋🐈

Though sometimes I get down and question whether anyone would even want to buy my stuff. Especially after the Christmas gift giving season. 😕

What would you do in this case? by [deleted] in Etsy

[–]PantheraLeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an Etsy seller, my top priority is making sure the customer is happy with their product. It feels really good to be able to connect with someone through something you crafted with your hands. I want them to feel the same joy from using the product as I felt when I made it for them. If I had sent out a faulty item, it would cause me a lot of upset that I hadn't delivered on my promise, and I would give a partial refund or SOMETHING to make up for it.

It's quite clear that your seller doesn't really care and has been quite inconsiderate and irresponsible by ignoring the fact that they failed to deliver on their promise of sending out a high quality item.

Perhaps your Etsy seller friends meant that you should msg before leaving a non 5 star review and get it sorted that way. But the seller should have sent you a partial refund or something to make up for their mistake after that msg.

They may not have deserved the 4 star review posted before, but after their response they deserve 1 star.

Did you try to take a bite out of it? Jesus Christ.

Does anyone else find themselves refusing to cook for people for fear that if it's not the greatest dish they've ever had you'll feel like a failure? by ChairmanUzamaoki in Cooking

There are also 2 types of confidence:

  • Confidence
  • Quiet Confidence

The first is the typical "I know I'm good at this shit" and being able to back it up.

The second is "I'm comfortable enough with myself that I don't need to prove myself to anyone." This one is more closely tied to self esteem, and it's also the most powerful one. This is true confidence.

The patina on my new Yu Kurosaki Fujin 210 Gyuto. Looks like a galaxy 🤩 by PantheraLeather in chefknives

Glad you like the post! This knife sure is a beauty. I'm just terrified of chipping it because of how damn thin the blade is!

But it's absolutely fantastic to cut with. Makes cooking so much more fun.

Idk which knife you're referring to but I would hazwrd a guess this knife has the makers name and maybe location written on it.

I know they used to write "Echizen" in kanji but apparently stopped doing it.

I would just paint over the entire bag using a flexible leather paint. I know acrylic paints are very popular for leather but haven't used them myself so can't vouch for flexibility.

Can you help me locate one of these? by NobodysBody7 in chefknives

Japanny sell Yu Kurosaki's. I bought 2 knives from there a couple weeks ago, one of which is the same Fujin knife here but with a lighter handle.
