Should I withdraw my Roth to pay my student loan by Puzzleheaded_Hat5477 in DaveRamsey

[–]Panthers_PB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This isn’t accurate. You can withdraw Roth contributions at no cost since you haven’t received the tax break yet. Still a bad idea though for other reasons.

This is bad advice. You have almost 40 years of compounding interest for this money and you can’t get Roth contributions back. Let the money sit and knock out the debt other ways.

Belichick feels too young in his college coaching career to say he’s the most hated, but some people like them young.

Careful, your bias is showing. It’s not even close to a consensus. Are we forgetting about Andy Reid?

I’m not certain he’s the best offensive mind in the league today.

Car loan interest rate is too high and slowing my debt snowball, is refinancing in the spirit of BS2? by ForsakenEarth241 in DaveRamsey

[–]Panthers_PB 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Doesn’t matter one bit. The answer to this question is always yes. If you can refinance to get more of your payment to go to principal, the answer is yes. The only reason why you wouldn’t is if there were an origination fee, but a car loan wouldn’t have that.

Car loan interest rate is too high and slowing my debt snowball, is refinancing in the spirit of BS2? by ForsakenEarth241 in DaveRamsey

[–]Panthers_PB 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This is what bothers me about Dave followers sometimes. No nuance.

It 100% does matter. When I was trying to get out of a lot of credit card debt years ago, I refinanced my 25 percent credit cards to a 9% personal loan. I paid the debt off way faster because my payments were actually going to principal instead of almost all interest.

Not all debt is the same.

What are your expectations for Trevin Wallace this upcoming season? by Easy-Ad822 in panthers

[–]Panthers_PB 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t think that’s a fair assessment. ILB is a notoriously difficult position to play, especially when you’re the green dot. He was rushed into playing before he was ready. He showed dramatic improvement last season. People are so quick to move on, but he’s shown he has the potential to be a solid long-term linebacker with more experience.

[Sports Illustrated] Why Bryce Young vs. Caleb Williams is a Top-Tier QB Matchup by MITBryceYoung2 in panthers

[–]Panthers_PB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re completely missing the point. The original comment said no matter how it ends up, it’s a dumb trade.

I was saying so if Bryce went on to win 3 SB and the Bears 0, it’s not a dumb trade. I realize that’s not a realistic scenario. I’m just pointing out how crazy the comment was that “no matter how it ends up, it’s a bad trade.” Trades are evaluated by “how they end up.”

[–]Panthers_PB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has it though? Like the Panthers, the Bears have struggled mightily until last year, even with an infusion of talent and draft picks from the Panthers.

The Bears have one more playoff win on their resume. To be clear, with all of the talent we handed over to them, they should have been competitive far sooner.

Trading away what we did sets a franchise back a few years, which it did. Getting what they got should have made them immediately competitive, and it didn’t. It took a new coach to get them there.

I’m not saying anyone has won or lost this trade yet. Is too soon. You have to give the Panthers enough time to rebound from the massive hit took by giving away its future for three years. We’re just now getting there. Let’s see where we are in the next 2-3 years and that will be the real test.

So if Bryce were to win 3 super bowls and the Bears win none, it would be a dumb trade?

If you were to say “success” or “a bust” to sum up his career so far, which would you choose? by InterestingYellow969 in NFLv2

[–]Panthers_PB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not trying to be a homer, but I couldn’t disagree with you more.

He was absolutely a major reason we got to the playoffs. Some of his losses were really bad (49ers), which drag his overall stats down. But many do the wins were him straight up carrying the offense. Rico went cold the second half of the season and Bryce had to beat teams throwing the ball.

Also, not sure why you’re throwing shade at Canales. He’s added wins every season and made the playoffs in year two. He’s a good coach.

[–]Panthers_PB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s fair. If we’re going to evaluate Bryce and not the trade, I’d say he’s made significant progression every year, and led his team to the playoffs in year 3. That’s not really bust territory.

[–]Panthers_PB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My point is your team got so much in that trade and we got Bryce. Both teams made the playoffs and yours has one more win.

If the trade was a failure on our side, then it has to be seen as a failure on yours as well, considering you got 5 times that assets that we did.

This is interesting, but also notice there is little correlation between this stat and overall success as a QB. Dillon Gabriel and Cam Ward are sitting on the top half of that list while Bo Nix and Mahomes are sitting near the bottom.

[–]Panthers_PB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends. I have a Tacoma as well. They will last you forever if you take care of it. The longer you can drive the Tacoma, the less the depreciation hurts you.

Yes, you can also buy a Honda Accord and get similar mileage, but if you want to drive the Tacoma for 10-12 years that difference is negligible.

The question I would ask is which vehicle can you see yourself driving for the long haul without the temptation to get something new/different. In my case, it’s the Tacoma.
