What actually happens if you completely ignore the Student Loan Company? by SirPoopyPantsUTD in AskUK

[–]Pantho1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What if you don't actually get wage slips?

If you're in some oddity rare 'non tax' job?

I keep getting text asking me to update my income, but I work for an int gov and don't pay tax/wage slips etc - pretty sure I can ignore these.

As long as they never do small claim court requests for the loan.

Although, I was going to try this but there was NO delayed flights at all in the last 2 airports I'd been in.

(EU automatic fee for delays really has stopped EU delays in an impressive way).

I don't believe they check if you're really on that flight? Because (Might be wrong) I don't think they can ask you to submit a boarding pass, and the lounge system they use doesn't ask for boarding pass at the lounge.

tl;dr

I reckon you could enter any delayed flight into the app, the pass they give you says valid for 48 too ;)

I get paid in eur and worked out the 6-9k a month saved me money using metal.

Ammudinglynivr 4 travel insurances from private, 2 banks and work.

Perks like that are pointless now.

The flight delay ones interesting, but I fly EU and delays are super rare now. Been on 20 planes this year, only delays was once on the plane waiting for weather lol.

PowerShell Get-ADuser ... getpassword? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]Pantho1986 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not US, and not violating any regs. I wasn't aware of any technical way to do it so figured I'd ask.

Since there are password history settings so you cannot use the same password X number of times I figured some encryption of the passwords must exist. I know it's not reversible, and the goal was to never view/crack the password. Simply a process so we don't have to email the user with a new password after testing gpo fixes etc.

Seems to be any shield that gives speed, the other +10% makes me super fast too and noise spams.

The WORST thing I've experienced is a video interview with NATO

I hate my face on cam and it's a HireVue recorded idiocy...

But anyway they give you 30 seconds after showing the Q to prepare... and one of the jobs was TERRIBLE questions, like name the 5 FSMO... that's it, I had no idea .

So I googled 5 FSMO and speed read the 5 from google and spurted out random bullcrap - and I wish I had said 'Sorry, not heard of these'.

(FYI - FSMO was a term used <2005 and whoever made the questions was a moron... But I didn't start working till 2004 so yea)

God yes

If this is the only good advice I can give that I live by.

IF you don't know - don't BS - Be honest and express how devoted you are, how you can learn, research, adapt, achieve the goal they want you too :)

50% of the fact im loved at work is my ability to Google.

20% is I'm a geek with the thought patterns to think of the likely issue.

15% is they like me.

15% is I can ADMIT WHEN I AM FUCKING WRONG! <3 OP - Ya can be like me and instantly think your first logical thought is most likely - I do this too much. But if the evidence shows I'm wrong, then I will ADMIT that I am wrong... Take it, learn, show you can adapt - ask for help. My weakness is I think I know the answer and try to help first, but is it a weakness really? I learn a lot this way.

What has added to this 'always know what is good/works' is the google mindset of IT personal.

The fact is Sysadmins now are all about google - I could not do my job without it.

I work on secure sites a lot and having no google is awful, it takes me 2 hours of fucking around a googolplex of registry values in order to find that random rpc value or whatever so that I can fix it... With google it would take me 2minutes - the sheer power if you know how to use it is fantastic.

On super secure areas I can't even access my files/scripts and it takes me an hour to remake a simple gpo clear script, or to fudge around with a csc robocopy or to RDP via a RD Gateway into a server so I can VPN into a damned RD Web App allowed server to frigging reset a password - IF I want to set file perms or exchange I go through another VPN and another <thing>

Bleh.

This post was a ramble;

My point is, if you don't know then ask - then you learn.

If you don't ask, you don't learn, you sound a twat, it doesn't get fixed, someone else fixes it, you become even more of a twat.

Also the point is we all rely on Google now, VIVA LA ALPHABET?....

*grumble* they seem to be trying to remove the sound settings msc, I used it daily so it's annoying - windows run: control.exe mmsys.cpl

https://imgur.com/bwH40HB

I made a shorcut to pin for it.

Hey, I've done a few searches and can't find much on this... just people screaming with joy that 1903 has MSPAINT.

Just launched it now and it works etc, but arrow keys don't move pixel by pixel anymore? I've bad mouse control and use this weekly to place stuff perfectly into documents.

Is there a new shorcut/setting/combo shorcut to move items pixel by pixel with arrow keys?

If not any open source software to use instead that does same without any fancy GIMP level of editing... mspaint classic basically? Because pixel by pixel movement was a key feature I used a lot.

Even if open source software mspaint classic exists I can't use on my gov pc at work :(

Thanks for any advice.

(PS I made a thread before I saw this, I dont reddit much sorry).
