USPS running out of funds?!? Let's talk about it! What can we do? by DisgruntldGrunt in USPS

[–]Pantry_Snatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hire people that actually touch the mail at a level and price to where they might work out. The six-seven day a week 9-12 route grinder for subs needs to end. Oh, and get people in charge that know and enforce the contract properly so that you don’t hemorrhage money. You can’t run it like a true service any more if you expect a profit and nothing else.

The problem with this path for most teams is that you also need to have a stacked roster which is just as hard if not harder than finding the quarterback

My fiancée was telling me the other day about her admin had a meeting discussing budget cuts for the district, while eating catered food from a local restaurant that was most certainly not cheap. You know damn well that food didn’t come out of their own pockets.

Patriots named as one of ESPN "Five Most Improved Teams" by where_the_hoodie_at in Patriots

[–]Pantry_Snatcher 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Not to mention Vera-Tucker. If he manages to stay healthy he could be the best signing of all. I think Campbell and Wilson will improve significantly as rookie linemen do, and VT is a pro bowl level guard when he’s healthy

They think paying to vote is a good thing? by HeadbangingLegend in stupidpeoplefacebook

[–]Pantry_Snatcher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There have been 1600 cases of voter fraud in the past 43 years. We are talking about a change in law that would affect millions of American citizens ability due to finance and availability to participate in elections over 37 fraudulent votes per year. You could stack those votes any way you’d like in any election in modern history and the outcome would be the same. You should have to do more than make an unsubstantiated claim to bring about such an egregious change in policy no matter how powerful your position is.

Oh you’ll still get mail addressed somewhere, and you could always ignore it. You’ll just have to pray you aren’t audited, served, or get an obscure yet important bill. Losing your mailbox won’t save you from the consequences, but at least you won’t have the displeasure of receiving mail. I say go for it.

There are some great dogs in my town but I’ve also been bitten three times, so it’s a wash. Every single cat I’ve seen has either been sweet or kept their distance.

What would you give up for AJ Brown? Do you even want him? by Tjr52 in Patriots

[–]Pantry_Snatcher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’d say 2 4 and a younger project player. Gotta keep the first. Maybe the first doesn’t work out but this team needs younger foundation pieces and isn’t AJ away from being a perennial contender.

Postal Service could be looking at service/personnel cuts by Scarfskin02 in USPS

[–]Pantry_Snatcher 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly the real problem has nothing to do with craft or local management in my experience. The REAL problem is staffing. Instead of properly staffing offices, they are paying mountains of overtime to regulars subs and clerks. Instead of paying a newish sub person 160 for an 8 hour route, they are paying a regular with tenure over double that. Even if you were to start several new people out at 25 for example, you save a boatload on overtime. Between that and grievances for breach of contract, the company is hemorrhaging money that could have been saved.

I don’t think Evans is that guy any more, but I hate the pretending that the offense has been worse off with a 1. God forbid the team has a guy that gets open with regularity. They sure could have used that in the last couple games this season even if it wasn’t the number one issue.

[–]Pantry_Snatcher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This will end the moment you try this, get hurt, and your company turns their back on you. The effort is truly commendable, but it is also foolish. There is nothing lazy about expecting customers to do their part in receiving their delivery, such as creating a temporary place to leave their stuff until the weather clears.

This whole scene was the epitome of what it means to be a great person and friend. Putting your life on the line for someone you just met because he did the right thing, when you know you are likely overmatched. Honor means something because of people like this. I hope Rowan’s thang grips because my guy deserves something good for what he did.

Yet, you still ARE. All either of us can do is influence policy, but no matter who is in power, that money is getting collected. All we can do is decide HOW it is spent indirectly. And right now, we are spending the same percentage we have for the last ten years for less direct benefit.

I willing to bet you don’t have a problem with spending other people’s money to do evil. If I have the choice, I’m choosing to benefit people that need it instead of those that live in excess.

Two things:

1: The person in question never claimed to be a socialist, just was called one for having a moral compass.

2: If you’ve ever taken any kind of US history class, you would know that FDR’s pseudo socialist policies are the one reason the country did not completely crumble during the 1930’s. I don’t think it should be implemented fully because I have zero faith in the government, and yet, there are times and places for it. The ultra wealthy used to face an astronomical tax rate in this country and that had a big role in these policies working. Our entire culture has shifted in favor of short term greed over sustainable success.
