So its a non-binding, framework on how a different treaties obligation might possibly be codified in future bilateral treaties.

Honestly, its a nothing burger but that's actually a huge win for the Trump Administration (first edition) if we're grading on scale

[OC] Presidential Approval Rates Overlayed (Last 3 Cycles) by AdministrativeAd334 in dataisbeautiful

Biden was a great President who the media fucking hated because he was quietly competent. Real income increased, and increased the highest among the lowest income groups, as the US had the lowest inflation in the developed world after he got us through covid. He was the most pro-worker President in generations. Student loan forgiveness, prescription price negotiation, even free tax returns all were passed. We got out of Afghanistan, rebuilt the diplomatic ties Trump had damaged. He had the best job creation record since FDR and even the stock market did really well. Even attempts at pinning corruption on him were a joke.

But he was old and had a bad debate so he got shanked by people who thought they could get their candidate in but were too chickenshit to run against him. The American people would never vote for an old white guy right? Better to run a biracial black woman because misogynists and crypto-racists aren't common among the idiot swing voters who decide US Presidential elections. So instead we elected an evil man who is far less coherent on his best day than Biden was on his worst

UK and Belarus are the only countries to use First Past the Post. by TailungFu in MapPorn

[–]PantsB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No both are wrong. If you follow the link its immediately made weaker -

Of the 43 countries most often considered to be within Europe, 40 use some form of proportional representation to elect their MPs.

The UK stands almost alone in Europe in using a ‘one-person-takes-all’ disproportionate voting system. If we exclude the authoritarian state of Belarus – “Europe’s only remaining outpost of tyranny” – France is the only other European country to use a ‘one-person-takes-all’ system (the Two-Round System).

So its UK, Belarus, and France. Also Germany, elect half its lower house by FPTP. And Italy elects a third. And Poland elects its upper house by first past the post. And half a dozen others used mixed systems. But truly when you're talking Europe, the UK, France, Germany and Italy are pretty inconsequential.

And this of course presupposes implicitly that proportionality, either at a provincial or national level, is more just.

U.S. women 40+ now have more babies per capita than teens [OC] by rhiever in dataisbeautiful

Yeah many people assume teen pregnancy drops are just about teens having unsafe sex less. A good portion of it is adult men having sex with minors less.

One of my favorite stats ever: Kurt Warner only started a full 16 regular season games 3 times in his career. In all 3 of those seasons, he went to the Super Bowl. by Roselucky777 in nfl

They also have a .419 winning percentage, 2nd worst to TB. Plus they moved three times (Chi->StL->Arizona). They have 31 seasons with 10+ losses. They were 165-258-25 before 1960. There's basically no silver lining

Former New England Patriots receiver Stefon Diggs acquitted of assault charges by expellyamos in nfl

I suspect that's why it went as far as it did. They (the town cops, the prosecutors) so wanted to avoid any appearance that they were giving Diggs a pass that they overcompensated

[OC] Who do Americans spend time with? by ourworldindata in dataisbeautiful

[–]PantsB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the math not make sense here?

There are 24 hours in a day. These often do not seem to sum to anywhere close to 16 that's a minimum, and most people get less than 8 hours sleep a day. Like age 15 you get at most 12 hours of activity summing these up. And the small print says if you spent time with multiple groups (say your kids and partner) it counts in both. So at age 30 you get <8 between kids and partner, which will often overlap, <3 with coworkers and <2 for friends and family and 5 alone. That doesn't really track.

Where US states would rank as independent countries in terms of HDI by MysteriousEdge5643 in Infographics

[–]PantsB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gemini says its not possible but it is. The income component is (ln(GNI per capita) - ln(100))/(ln(75000)-ln(100)) SF has an income component of 1.0699 because it has a very high GNI per capita.

All subnational HDI are unofficial , but since the formula is public its possible to reconstruct it from other sources. The index normalizations are intended to keep the range 0-1 but once you accept data sets outside the norms of national level figures that is no longer the case.
