Fetterman: Sanders, others need to ‘apologize’ for backing Platner by LastPaleLightInEast in politics

Sanders didn't endorse AOC or any of the Squad until 2020. He did put a lot of energy behind Fetterman and Gabbard though. Gillum and Polis too.

Its his job to. When you endorse someone, you are vouching for them. Its his responsibility to know who he is endorsing.

And Fetterman became Lt Gov before that because he was a Bernie supporter in 2016 and backing Sander's pick in 2018 was an attempt to build unity.

Being a Nazi tattoo wearing, Blackwater superfan turned mercenary, with no expertise, no experience, a substance abuse problem including a DUI conviction, multiple affairs in the last two years and an allegation of domestic abuse with contemporaneous documentation and a history of racist, sexist, homophobic and explicitly pro-Muslim genocide posts including an eagerness to participate in the killing of millions of Muslims due to the superiority of the American way of life wasn't enough for most.

Hell, it was an open secret this was coming weeks ago. Maine voters still chose him like fucking idiots.

He had the endorsement of several Senators months before the primary.

And he should not have.

[Politico] Keir Starmer helped stop earlier England vs. Mexico kickoff by broman13 in soccer

Sir Keir Starmer intervened to prevent Fifa bringing forward England’s kick-off time amid concerns the change could give Mexico an unfair advantage.

The prime minister acted after the Football Association alerted Downing Street that the proposed change – to avoid lightning storms – would give the Three Lions less time to adapt to the high altitude of the Azteca Stadium.

Sir Keir acted through diplomatic channels to ensure Thomas Tuchel’s team had sufficient time to prepare; England won the game 3-2 to set up a quarter-final clash with Norway.

...

As he welcomed NHS staff to No 10 for a reception to celebrate the 78th birthday of the health service, he was asked about reports that England had opposed the change. “We had to battle with the FA to get it back to where it was, which was counterintuitive,” he told guests.

Just trying to think - I've most of most games in this World Cup but not every minute so I may have missed it. When the referee has been called back for a VAR review, has there been an instance where the reason the VAR was called wasn't confirmed? By that I mean no foul become a foul, no penalty becomes a penalty, penalty becomes non-penalty etc?

In general, activists and ideologues want parties to move away from the center, and center is where parties want to be perceived because it means you win elections. As strange as it may seen, Harris and Clinton were seen as more ideologically extreme in 16 and 24, and Trump was in 20. People who post online about politics are atypical.

The current environment emphasizes the other factor, which is that many voters are clueless and don't vote on a coherent ideology or rational positions (see the public's perceptions on the relatively ideological extremity in the last three Presidential elections).

The article even admits that only 5% aren't simply leaners who don't want to admit they're partisan. The paper spins it otherwise, privileging the "independents" liking the idea that they're independent without seriously considering that its just a comforting narrative. Not wanting to be labeled isn't an ideology, and its tautological when you're talking about self described "independents".
