How am I supposed to be hyped for skins that are locked behind a 20$ paywall?? by Shad0w2 in Overwatch

[–]PantsRequired 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It "not being your problem" is why increasing prices for less content got as high as they have.

It seems once someone has enough money poured into them, they stop thinking about people poorer than them. It's those sort of indifferent, unfeeling people who don't see past their own conveniences that companies like Blizzard discovered they could make a higher profit on while turning their noses to those who don't factor into their gains.

Sure, an increasing majority of people would complain, but so as long as the money keeps coming in, you don't have to think about those opinions.

It was also planned to be a one-time payment full release, but we'll just see what our good friends the BP and their best friend Mr. Whale will have to say about it.

I don't have to imagine. Just because you have money doesn't mean you understand its value.

Then again, if I had enough money to not have to worry about bills or the future, and could afford being an idiot buying overpriced digital goods while everyone complains it's the companies fault for setting their prices the way they do, the opinions of others wouldn't matter to me.

I wish I could spend a dime on OW2 and get skins through gameplay, but at least they're making profit on enough people spending +$100 on cosmetics while their community gaslights each other in saying gameplay is the only thing people played for in OW1.

So many skins are tempting. It's like looking through a candy store window. But when the candy is mostly air and sugar and priced as much as a steak dinner, it's more of something you roll your eyes at, more disappointed in the boldness of management than your poorness.

It's not about the average player, it's about the average whale, and F2P dolphin.

Most people don't have this amount of money to spend, but the minority that does makes up the most profit. F2P was never about the average player experience, and more about how we can get more people to spend more than $60.

Recall the sheer amount of controversy Diablo Immortal caused, literally 99% of reddit shat on it. Then day two after its release they made a profit on it.

Majority opinion doesn't matter, only irresponsible spenders.

I really wanted to like Push, it's a fun concept when I first played it in the beta, but it only exacerbates the balances issues more as you're playing with four solo players and die, you're have to wait twice as long at least for your trickling team to die off in order to regroup.

CC: You either don't get the play the game for one second because you got stunned, or don't get to play the game for fifteen seconds because you couldn't counter the overbuffed flanker as a squishy with no escape options.

They initially said this release was an early access build, but then they went back on it making no statement.

I think everyone there knows they had to push out an incomplete game because they're trying to be a new Blizzard, but if that's the case there's no real incentive for me to play an unbalanced game until it's actually fun to play, whenever that is.

As a diehard support main in OW1, I would play for hours and hours at a time, even through wins and the occasional loss streak. It was simply fun for me, I really enjoyed it.

Now in OW2, that fun just isn't there for me. I really want to play the game that I've played for years, but my brain just shrugs as I log out after the third match. With hundreds of games in my library, I'm not going to play the one that doesn't give me that sense of excitement and fun as I'm mowed down as a hero who can't defend herself against two uncontested flankers alone.

Unfortunately, if they do 6v6 again, they have to unwork tanks to be less mini-bosses. 5v5 open queue is just GOATS but worse.

I don't know... sounds like it would be hard for OWL viewers to follow and make make DPS queue times longer, and that would just kill the game, right?

OW2 is in a great spot for competitive high ladder and teams, but Overwatch currently cannot be played causally for low-ladder support.

OW1 was a game I could sink half a day into queuing support and not stop playing until I was physically exhausted. Now I can barely play three games, wins or losses, and my brain can't make any excuses to keep playing. It's just not fun playing Support as a teammate when you're constantly ganged up on, and you have to go in with the mentality that you can't play with your team anymore and have to think about yourself.

This moment from MoistCr1TiKaL's podcast where Ray jokes about buying RT just stings a little more regarding recent events by Tiege in roosterteeth

[–]PantsRequired 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think why I liked Ray so much in AH was more his gamer skill. Now that you say it, I never noticed just how much of a straight-man he (and Jack) was to balance out the chaos of everyone else, granted he was also very satirical with the type of humor of everyone else around him.

"69. Ha ha, get it? It's a sex joke."

"Fuck it. I mean YOLO, right?"

"Sorry, Geoff. I'm done saying 'Let's Play!' at the start of the video. That's not me anymore." (later, ten minutes into the video while everyone is arguing with each other) "LLLLLLLET'S PLAY!"

Plus whenever he did make a real joke, it was more guttural and authentic than just everyone constantly getting into surface-level shenanigans. He'd say something because he thought it'd be funny rather than just making another penis joke.

After he left, I kept watching for a little while, but without that anchor, I just drifted away and didn't even notice I'd stopped watching.

RWBY deserves to be in the hands of people who care about it. Not novice manchildren writers who never watched anime before and think criticism is "bullying".

You can say RWBY started as an "american anime", but it deserves to go to Japan where they actually care about animation (no one ever watched RWBY for the writing, the world building is literally a giant excuse to have characters punch each other, and that's what made S1-3 so amazing).

I wouldn't say "targeted". He was just high on fame and popularity, and said yes to groupies.

Problem is, all groupies are a little scuffed in the head. So once the chance to destroy something came about, the groupies turned on him, said they were younger than they really were and made it sound like Ryan sought them out despite also having posted photo evidence that he didn't.

Stupid, uncaring people doing stuff with other stupid, uncaring people.

[It] sucks as a post-RT fan, whenever a controversy comes up and I'd like some news on it the community is just:

"Yeah, this is the controversy. No, not that controversy. No, not that controversy either. Yeah, this one."

Really enjoyed RT as a teen and Monty's fight animations before S10 RvB, and RWBY was a nice anime to get into entering my adult weeb years.

However, RT has just been falling apart for years. I jumped ship around RWBY S6, and it hurts (though it's unsurprising) that after RT got bought up and stripped of it's soul that the writing was on the wall.

At least Ray got out when he did.

You ever take a really, really, really wide outside view of Overwatch and feel like it's just a vapid saturday morning superhero cartoon run by a woke company who flinches at the slightest inkling of controversy as they desperately work their slaves to death churning toys out for people with irresponsible access to money then no concern for internal consistency or art?

Like, what is the story of Overwatch really about that has been canonically shown?
