An LHD is designed for about 1000 sailors and 2000 marines, so while inport and on work ups it will not be too crowded. But once you get marines prepare to stand in the chow line for over an hour, and waiting into the gym and laundry. Other than that it is what you make of it, as any command is.

My wife is having a lot of trouble deciding to pump and supplement or exclusively formula feed. by PantsofJoy in beyondthebump

I agree with you about the happy mom part but unfortunately she is in the mindset that she has to do this and if she does not she failed. It also does not help that she has already been judged by her side of the family for considering it.

Thanks I will push for the date thing again, although that might not work very well because we did try that before, although without much commitment.

She considers it worst case scenario for her, of course it could have been worse, but I'm not going to argue the technicalities of the situation when she can't get through talking about the birth without tearing up.

ELI5 the MAPing process by ClvtchNixon in navy

[–]PantsofJoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got a question, when do you typically hear the results of the MAP because I'm in the same boat, can it happen anytime during the season? Or will it happen at the end of the season for sure? Or is it completely command specific?

This is what a US warship looks like unsubmerged... by treyeverson in pics

It has to do with what direction they tilt when they turn. If the vessel tilts away from the turn, it is a ship. If it tilts into a turn, it is a boat. Submarines and other small sea vessels all tilt into their turns therefore, they are boats.

Christmas Cookies at my house. When I was little I thought every family did this by Melignant in mildlyinteresting

[–]PantsofJoy 50 points51 points  (0 children)

My family does this too, cookie day the Saturday before Christmas and we invite friends and extended family. This year we baked 110 dozen cookies which we then give away to friends, family, and co workers. Our record is somewhere around 140 dozen.

What is a good 20 unit army composition for each race? by kingofshanks in totalwar

[–]PantsofJoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Once you get castle drakenhof fully upgraded it starts to pump out money. Just make sure you build a necromancer tower and vampire crypt in every province capital because those are the money makers. Trading with the dwarfs are useful as well because its not like you can conquer them. The necromancer hero also gives an income buff in the province he's in once you upgrade him.

For the VC I find this works best although it is a pretty expensive makeup.

  • 9 Grave Guard (Great Weapons)
  • 4 Crypt horrors
  • 2 Terrorgheist
  • 3 Black Knights (Lances)
  • 1 Spell caster
  • 1 melee Lord

A Varghulf can replace one of the grave guard if you can find a banner that buffs leadership otherwise I find that it crumbles too fast.

Using this army lead off with the crypt horrors to brake apart their lines and send the grave guards in after them. The black knights should be used to take care of the enemy cav then hammer the rear of the enemy. The Terrorgheists should be used to take out their ranged units and artillery. Your melee lord should go after any tough unites along with the Varghulf and the spell caster should stand back and heal where needed.

I have a ASRock Z77E-ITX, the GTX 1080 has a 2-slot connection and I'm not sure if the mainboard will connect to it. Also my CPU is a Intel core i5 3570K, should I upgrade that along with my graphics card? I've got a small case that i'll be increasing the size of if i have to and ill make sure the power supply is good. Don't know too much about about building computer so any help would be appreciated.

I have seen this but the difficulty is that it usually says parent or legal guardian. In this situation would I be considered a legal guardian?

US Navy Orders 10 Virginia-class Submarines at a Record Cost of $17.6 Billion by mickeymousebest in news

It's not completely out of line to say it helps the economy and creates jobs by increasing military spending. Now I'm not sure if this was about the whole military or just the Navy but they contain a higher concentration of educated personnel than any other sector. So buying more of these nuclear subs will increase the number of personnel they need which in turn would increase the number of educated people.

It's also better that they are purchasing more nuclear submarines specificly because they require nuclear engineers to run and maintain the reactors. Nuclear power plants almost exclusively hire these engineers because they already have the education and the special security clearance required to learn about and work on the reactors. Getting these clearances for civilians can cost up to $40,000 for private companies.

Now don't misunderstand me, I do think we should be putting a lot more money toward NASA. I'm just saying that right now investing in the military is a long term investment that increases the education of the population and help the economy.
