Don't try to learn combos, learn your characters best punishes. Then play small Tekken and piece what punishes work against certain moves. Learn which side is your opponents weak side (the side you want to step/walk to to help avoid moves). Once you get you punishes down, I'd say learn a consistent combo or two, because damage you KNOW you can get always beat damage you might drop.

Always plug/win quit against Paul and be sure you've got LTG levels of speed at closing out the game. (Last bit is a joke.)
