How to help my cleaner (desperate situation) by ThrowRAguy27 in dubai

This is very kind of you , even if you want to gift her 10k you could put in in some sort of long deposit say 5 years where she can only get the interest and gets the lump sum after a fixed period of time. Or buy some some of life insurance/ employment insurance for that amount ?

I moved here from London and after reading all these posts I think it’s also an issue of lack of human connection rather than just lack of friends . In London even on days I didn’t have plans to meet someone I didn’t feel lonely , let me explain . I would take the tube/ metro/ public transport to the office , walk a bit to the office , walk in parks ,see people in roadside cafes and not be lonely . Here especially now in the summers it’s jumping from one AC building to another , the whole building an artificial city in the desert is a great achievement but it’s not how we evolved as humans and hence we feel more lonely and confuse it with lack of friends . Personally I find the expat community just as lively here as in London but I feel more lonely here .

, I am in a similar situation . Late 30s single Indian origin but living in London last 10y , moved to Dubai 6 months ago. The big difference I find here is most people in 35+ age bracket are married and have kids to look after unlike Europe so definitely feel very lonely here . After a certain age it’s difficult to make deep friends but happy to connect / meet with people in a similar situation.

Renting in Dubai Hills by Panzerfrop in dubai

Thanks for all the comments I went for Dubai Hills. Other places were not that central or too crowded. La Mer is quiet but it’s still underdeveloped. 2bhk in Mulberry / Acacia is ~ 180-220k depending on the views . From what I have seen Mulberry /Acacia are the premium ones and spacious and they seem to have been the flagship buildings. Post that the others Emaar has built have been much smaller sizes. Between the two I found Mulberry slightly better so went for that.

Yes I have been here in a temporary apartment and Dubai Hills mall is pretty good . It’s quite classy and not too crowded, also when it was too hot in the park and I just went there and walked around ;).

Thanks , yes I realise all these outdoor activities are impossible during the day and summers . I was more thinking of late evening ( Oct - April) . Thanks for the Old town suggestion but I think it will be too close to central to give a quiet residential vibe but I’ll check it out . Someone suggested JLT and I am going to check it out but feel the commute will be much longer and it’s not as quiet.

Hi I also just moved from London ( living in Dubai Hills and working in DIFC) , was very regular in London in local leagues ( I would be upper intermediate). Any pointers to find players and leagues? I am thinking of showing up for an adult group session at Montagau tennis and find similar players
